7.62x39 is cheap, but I have to order 5.45 online because not even my LGS stocks it(this being a shop that carries any milsurp cartridge I could ever want). .223 can be found in fucking wal-mart

AK, get a WASR or WBP Polish from Atlantic WITH the Radom Barrel.

AR just avoid the bottom shit like Radical, or CBC. Cant go wrong with anything that has been around for more than 10 years, even Del-Ton and DPMS are decent rifles now for under $600.
