Diapers as a whole are one of the hidden taboos of combat units. There has been a long standing "don't ask, don't tell" policy in place about keeping your diaper use to yourself. This is especially true with high tier operators like the rangers, navy seals, etc. You might have heard things like "we're in the shit" or "embrace the shit", this is referencing an operator's inclination towards dropping his load at the first sight of engagement. Dumping early and often lets you stay fresh on the inside and lubricates your lower body movements when every instance counts.

This really gets me wondering. I mean, what DO you do if you've got to take a shit? You're not going to enjoy sitting in your own feces for even a few minutes, let alone a few hours. It's not healthy, and it'll cause rashes or even sores that can take you out of action.

And what if you've got a copilot or navigator, like in an F-14? Do you just apologize beforehand and then just tell the other guy to put on his oxygen mask?

And if you're in the infantry, or on foot, is it common to just go out into the trees and drop a deuce in the woods? Do you use the buddy system, or is there always some kind of bathroom facilities being dragged around in the field?

I've had to take a shit while hiking before, and it's the fucking worst. Shitting in nature is unpleasant, even if you have baby wipes and a roll of TP. I'd rather cut a hole in the lid of a bucket and shit through it than squat against a tree.

using a bathroom in a fighter: piddle packs for when you need to take a leak (thick vinyl bag with a funnel filled with absorbant gel), and garbage bags and a roll of TP for dropping a deuce.

and hitting the bathroom right before you step. i can hold it for a 2 hour sortie, but much beyond that and i'll have to use a piddle pack. never had to drop a deuce... knock on wood.
