Do SOF still use this knife in the field?
>>33270518
No this isn't call of duty
Maybe. A lot of SOF dudes are cringy edgelords like Chris Kyle was.
>>33270518
It is still issued to brits so I'd imagine so

wow welcome to /k/, you have completely missed the OPs picture of a fairbairnsykes knife.
>The F-S fighting knife was made famous during World War II when issued to British Commandos, the Airborne Forces, the SAS and many other units, especially for the Normandy landings in June 1944. With its acutely tapered, sharply pointed blade, the F-S fighting knife is frequently described as a stiletto, a weapon optimised for thrusting,[2] although the F-S knife is capable of being used to inflict slash cuts upon an opponent when its cutting edges are sharpened according to specification.
To answer your question now? No. Up until probably the late 60s-70s? Yes. Is it still a completely viable weapon? Absolutely.

this guy again

They issue them still to marines and sf. Does this mean they are still used? fuck knows most are probably traded in for a more practical all rounder of a knife (how often do you stab someone in war?) but marines are still trained with it so it isn't some old fashioned knife from days gone by it is still current so is still used

This guy gets it.
Royal marines are issued with it and train with it but for the most part when deployed you would use multi purpose knife like a kabar or something more modern. UKSF who came from royal marines might still carry it but only out of personal choice, it's not issued to SAS, SBS, and SRR. However I did read in a book about task force 88/black that SFOD-D operators have a flare for fighting knives/daggers so maybe one of them might carry one like that but not uniform and most that do follow this practice probably carry more modern specialist fighting knives.
>>33270518
protip: no sof guys carry knives anymore
>>33270814
Because they aren't deadly anymore?
>>33270831
pretty much, why carry a knife when an extra mag is less weight?
>>33270814
>>33270901
Wow. That is some low quality bait there, son. Try a little bit harder next time, will you?
>>33270901
because your pistol can break and throwing punches instead of stabs will get you captured
>>33270636
This. My bro was given one for what ever gay shit he did in the military. Went and just tossed in it a drawer, ended up using a multitool, a esee3. When I asked him why, he said "Don't need some fancy knife to stab a guy in a throat"
>>33271756
Your bro sounds like a dandy
>>33270518
Maybe someone does. Just peruse a few MIL and SOF community forums and you can see what knives they like.
I don't think there are even a top 10 for knives used since so many guys seem to use so many different knives.
It is used more as a cutting tool than a weapon and the vast majority of SOF guys are using folding knives.

>imblying my buddy didn't deploy with his Yarborough, with the sole purpose in getting blood on it
Apparently so
