So is it legal to just kill any small game on your property? Can you just shoot birds and squirrels around your farm as long as they're not protected type?

What about raccoons? Can you leave bait out for raccoons and shoot them legally?

It depends on if you have animals, crops, or anything that can be destroyed by these filthy animals. Basically if the animal is destroying property (including pets or farm animals) or your means of living that isn't a endangered creature or not considered a pest animal they are fair game here in MN.

Short answer is no.

Google your shit

Most states will have an actual season for most wildlife, with some type of bag limit. Also most states have a trapper/fur harvest season, which I'm positive raccoons fall into. Go to your state game and fish website and it should be explained pretty cut and dry. They should even explain hunting with dogs/baiting etc.
>>
>>33268371
> So is it legal to just kill any small game on your property?

>>
>>33270162
I've never eaten raccoon, gave them to a buddy for the fur.
I have eaten squirrel, it's alright, as long as you used a rifle, and arent picking steel shot out of the meat.

nobody will give a fuck as long as you don't make effigies with the corpses. Also fuck raccoons, neighbors cat escaped and the fuckers drowned it in a pond, kill on sight.
>>
>>33268371
If the animal is regulated by the hunting laws of your state then you may only kill them if you can prove they are causing some sort of harm/damage. You will likely still need to secure a special permit to do this. If the animal is not regulated then you may hunt and kill them at any time and you are only constrained by local firearms laws/ordinances. For example I can hunt pigeons year round where I am.
>>
>>33268886
MN based state for fish, game, and slaughtering pests. It makes me proud.
>>
>>33270162

squirrels and a lot else are good to eat, not raccoons, fucking garbage eating animal full of worms.
>>
>>33270156
Biggest scope I've ever seen on a squirrel gun. Who is it made by? Gun?
>>
Check your local laws. As someone mentioned earlier, there are sometimes exceptions for pests or animals that kill livestock. If you live out in the country and you aren't advertising it, it shouldn't be a problem.
>>
>>33270288
It is a cheap 6-24 X 50 scope made my CVLife. Its only like 40 some bucks on amazon and has many positive reviews. Even though its marked 6-24 zoom I suspect its actually closer to 3-14 from just observing the difference with some of my other 3-9 scopes. It is a very good quality scope FOR THE MONEY, and I'm not gonna put a high dollar scope on a $200 gun just to shoot squirrels inside 50 yds. The gun is a Savage MK 2, options are shit when you're a lefty.
>>
>>33270174
I live in the country, rats are only in places which are dirty.

I'm not wh you were replying to, but you do realize animals have different habitats in different climates and areas? Just because you don't see rats where you live, doesn't mean they don't live in the wild. Where the fuck do you think they lived before we built cities and shit?
>>
>>33268371
In Michigan at least you have to pay a small fee for a small game license. Like 15 bucks. And there are seasons for certain critters, no season for "pests" though. If you're found taking game out of season it's a huge fine.

>>33268371
What does it matter? Who is going to find out about the critters you shoot on your farm? The state can go fuck itself when it comes to what I shoot on my own property.
>>
>>33270266
There isn't a creature that walks the earth that isn't known to carry some form of parasite. Not sure how garbage eating is supposed to be an insult considering they would be eating the shit people didn't finish eating.

Personally I gave up on squirrel outside of targets of opportunity. Stick to rabbits and game birds for small game since it's actually worth the effort. Honestly I'm a little surprised I've never heard of anyone trying to farm squirrels for whatever reason
>>
>>33270318
So do i, and they live literally anywhere they can, especially when winter rolls in.

Hey, I didn't tell him, or you, or anyone what they could or could not do on their own property. I was just reminding everyone about how much of a hard on our federal government has for waterfowl management, and the big league risk associated with poaching them.

Ruffed Grouse hunting with a .22 became my winter addiction when I lived in the mountains. Missed out on it this winter, maybe I'll have my shit together by the end of this year. Got any pics from hunting game birds, friend?
>>
>>33268371
Check your state and local hunting regulations, anon. They will probably require you to have a hunting license.

On the off chance you live in NY, though, Squirrel season ended Feb 28th, Racoon season ended on Feb 15th, Crow closes at the end of March.

Right now the only things open for hunting are Coyote (until Mar 27) and the eight unprotected species: chipmunk, porcupine, red squirrel, woodchuck, English sparrow, starling, rock pigeon, and monk parakeet.
>>
Niggers like rats, mice and pigeon are all fair game, so are pests like raccoon and hogs. I don't really shoot squirrel and rabbits even tho there's nothing to stop me

We have seasons for the likes of minks and martens, but I also don't really shoot them

What I do shoot for food (as well as enjoyment) are pheasants and wild turkey. their season just aren't long enough.
>>
>>33270162
it's generally a bad idea to eat meat from raccoons and predator species
>>
Anyone ate the hogs that they've shot?

I generally don't unless I score some young ones. I usually just give them to a friend so he could process it and given to church-run soup kitchen
>>
>>33272520
Is it even ethical (or legal) to do that?

Food bank won't even touch that shit
>>
>>33272191
Roundworm eggs can't survive high temperatures so as long as you boil the coon for an hour or until it hits 165F then you're fine. This is a practice you should use for all bush meat.
>>
>>33272552
>Is it even ethical (or legal) to do that?
what? yes of course it legal and ethical.

>>

Roasted, obviously.

Although sometimes I just couldn't be bothered with it so I usually feather it, gut it, cut it to pieces, marinate it before put it on a frying pan
>>
>>33272552
Beats me.

Before this I just bury the hogs or leave it to the vultures. One day a friend asked me to deliver the hogs to him instead so he could process it to feed the homeless (and urban youths)

I'm gonna dispose of them hogs anyway so if they could fill some empty bellies, I'd be glad to shoot more of them

Point noted, but Canadian geese should really be taken off the protected species list. They were put on it decades ago when their numbers were few, but with warmer weather and longer growing seasons farmland between the southern US and Canada has become like one big buffet. Their numbers have exploded, almost to the point of being an invasive species. Fuck those entitled cunts.
>>
>>33272218
I don't know where you live but here the Canadian Flying Rats don't migrate. I have seen them in the snow eating food people feed them; because "the poor birddies must be so cold". They shit on everything and are mean as fuck. Remove Honk at all costs.
>>
>>33272575
That's good to know, I guess, but God help me if I'm ever hard up enough to eat coon. I've probably killed a hundred of the things, and never once had the inclination.
>>
>>33272934
Yeah, I wouldn't eat it on the reg because it sounds gross, especially urban raccoon, but people have eaten coon for as long as there have been people in North America. Almost all edible food is safe if prepared properly.
>>
>>33272218
>"I thought it was a drone!"
Works every time.
>>
>>33272902
Yo must understand, there are the facts, and there is the law. Resident gesse are niggers, I say kill them all, and my state actually makes a distinction between resident and migratory Canada Geese, with seperate seasons. Some don't, and you need to know your local regs (however outdated or misinformed they may be), and accept that there are consequences for breaking them. In Vermont, there is legislation in the process that will seriously curtail hunters and trappers, expect other states full of faggots to look to this with inspiration. Just like gun owners, the actions of each hunter can ruin everyone else's fun.
