Yeah, it was pretty stupid. My recruiter even pulled all the strings he could. I even wrote a letter to my Congressman. All I wanted was to go infantry and hopefully be a machinegunner. Maybe that's not aiming very high but fuck, I was 20 and a lot of my high school friends were serving.
