Read the last thread stuff on holsters and watched some videos namely GT's and AregularGuy's video. Anyone have suggestions for just a regular glock 19 (with suppressor threading because barrel length) and a surefire light. Just want single strap mid ride kydex holster but what sort of retention should I look for? I'm thinking just a hood of some sort.

What are some good poorfag setups/pieces of gear?
I have an AR as well as a lot of mags and ammo but as far as gear queer shit all I have is
>type 56 chicom
>hydration carrier (ancient woodland camelbak mule)
>boots (merrell moabs)

All I know is I need an ifak and that plates and a pc are out of my budget for right now. What else would you guys reccomend?
>>
>>33265236
Fannypack IFAK seems like a solid option for a legit IFAK on a budget. Don't need a super tactical brand one either, can probably just find a decent "athletics" brand one.

Accessible, doesn't require alice/molle mounting options and spacey enough for more than a blowout kit which is likely all a chicom's big enough to hold.

Hey /GQ/

I've been using the 5.11 Tac Tec Chest rig for a while and I can attest to its quality and usability.

I actually really like it and was wondering if you could add it to approved /gq/ chest rigs.

Also, I'm moving towards getting a Plate carrier because I can actually afford plates now.

What do you personally recommend?

Something breathable is important because I live in South FL

Should I put my IFAK on strong side or weaksideof my PC or CR? If I put it on my strong side i can put 2 more mags on my weak side. My concern is how my elbow hangs under the rifle when i shoot, like itll hit the IFAK and force me to chicken wing which I find uncomfortable.
>>
>>33265755
Where ever you can reach it with both hands and is comfortable/impedes the least movement. Everyone's a little different in how their arms / chest sit so you're gonna have to work out where your shit will impede arm movement and where it won't and adjust accordingly if possible. You could always run it front left/right.
>>
Has anyone else come to the opinion that warbelts and dedicated plate carriers are ashit now? After owning both I feel like a slick plate carrier + chest rig is the best option

>warbelt
>interferes with wais tbelt of framed backpack

>dedicated plate carrier
>can't separate gear from armor

>slick pc + chest rig
>can wear armor + gear just like dedicated
>can wear pc alone for concealableish armor
>can wear chest rig alone for weight savings

So what are y'all opinions on best slick pc + chest rig? D3CRX looks good
>>
>>33265831
Im very fond of my PC but I may be biased towards it. If im in gear for a real reason I want armor with it.

But as far as battle belts are concerned, I hate the damn things. Cant bend, cant run, all that impediment and none of the protection a PC offers. I do have a BB left over from when I thought I needed one but I use it more like web gear.

I can relate to the chest rig a good fitting chest rig is coooommmmffy. But a slick with chest rig has too much shift to me. But thats just my opinion.

To each their own. I hate the amount of extra fabric a rig produces, it's all just something to get caught on a tree while walking or a branch while crawling.

I come from a scout background, so I also never liked the extra amount of noise it made. Sure you can have a battle buddy synch it down tight before a mission, but it still shifts on you. More pet peeve things than legit reasons.

I'm from a couple of threads back noticing that you keep your d-ring locked. Since you said that you actually use it to rappel (and so need it to be load bearing) I figured I'd show you a d-ring I really like.

It's marked "28KN PT 9313 Z359.1 07A1" and looks exactly like pic related. It's ANZI certified for 3k+ pounds, and the lock instead of screwing is spring loaded, which makes it easy to open and no chance of overtightening it to close it.

A few thoughts from an AK perspective on the Taco X2R, may as well respond to some higher profile criticisms first.
1) That wannabe operator on the AK Files saying the Taco X2R doesn't work with AK mags is a fucking moron. His username is "Clown". Try running with only one mag in and actually tighten your shit properly. Now not only two will be secure, but a single will be G2G as well. I got on a jungle gym, flipped around and shit still didn't fall out. Guy is a basement dweller and hasn't spent any time training in the field.
2) Rob Ski is on point with his ciriticisms of the bullets catching, the redneck special of d-tape or even med tape will cure this. I've been trying to train with different methods and try not to snag without med tape and I'm getting more consistent. Will probably return and post a vid in response to Rob if I really perfect this with my setup.
3) The thing is no longer impossible to attach. HSGI made some new clips that aren't math 55 hard to get on your PC. Thank fucking god.

As for other shit, I don't feel like laying down is too awkward with this setup vs single TACOs (especially since my PC is very minimal to begin with), but I do definitely notice a difference. Visually it presents a bit more than single TACOs under a hoodie or jacket, so that's definitely something to keep in mind. Under a poncho it's unnoticeable.

So my IFAK and all the contents should be here by tuesday, as well as my holster and other pistol taco.

I would *like* to have a dump pouch, but I don't think I have room. Are there any single slot folding dump pouches? Is that a thing?

When I paid more attention to /k/ is was multicam everything and bad ass plate carriers. I asked this earlier but didn't get a good answer (and I didn't remember): is there a good way to secure the cummerbund flap if you have that bitch loaded up with mags? Because all the PC's I toyed with the goddamn flap would come undone or make noise when I did the spaz around like a dildo test.
>>
>>33274415
Im not exactly sure what your specifically talking about. If your implying the cummerbund is holding the mags and is sagging on the sides, not much you can do besides make it tighter or remove the magazines. Make sure the velcro flap in the front has enough velcro.

and those things are still popular, but its all about being high speed lowwwwwwww drag now
>>
>>33274480
I was talking about the flap itself becoming loose. I think I'll just give up the idea of a cummerbund PC. Damn things are just uncomfortable too. Promotes wearing your load too high screwing with your lumbar spine.

Anyone use Under Armour Valsetz RTS boots?
I have to do a lot of climbing and jumping for work, but I spend a lot of time driving.
They can serve as "tactical" boots too.
They're comfortable and easy to put on with the zipper but I'm concerned with durability.

>>
>>33274560
Your... Cummerbund is coming loose?

> Because all the PC's I toyed with the goddamn flap would come undone or make noise when I did the spaz around like a dildo test.

Are you talking the front hook and loop panel that you close over the cummerbund hook and loop sections once you've got it on and adjusted it? That shouldn't come off ever unless you have an extremely well used plate carrier that's been through like two wars and has like 1lb of lint in the hook and loop.
>>
>>33274694
I spazzed rather hard. It just made a bunch of noise and did seem to stay put though. A section of velcro that large just seems like a weak point. I was wondering if any anons had a solution.
>>
>>33274747
> A section of velcro that large just seems like a weak point.
Well, it's a friction fit and it's fast to don. The only other way I could think of doing it would be buckles, but those still slide around because yeah now you've locked it horizontally but not vertically. Hook and loop resists all movement, so it (usually) stays put.

I can't say I've ever heard your problem before, sorry.

that does look nice. I am a paramedic and I am taking a 4 week TEMS course this summer. I was told that I would be provided with a PC if I did not have my own. I was told by one of my coworkers I should get AR500 plate.
>>
>>33275835
your knife is in a really shitty spot
>>
>>33275973
>>33275835
On second thought, your entire set up is poor. Your placements are in poor places for draw. Your pistol mag pouches preventing you from prone properly or from quick reloads. Your knife is ready to snag everything that comes its way and your mags in general are not meant for that system.
>>
>>33275835
>that knife at a perfect "be annoying as fuck" position
>those pistol mags up front right where your rifle's going to fall
>>
>>33275962
If you don't want to spend a lot then shop around the pastebin but if you're buying plates don't buy AR500. They've had a lot of recalls in the past for plates failing to meet NIJ or manufacturing standards. Steel is a whole other story but just... Don't. Ceramic's fallen in price enough to not even consider steel as an option.
>>
>>33275835
The draw on those magazines would be unnatural as fuck as the kangaroo pouch doesn't lend itself well to AK mags. Your knife is in a fucky spot, same with the pistol mags.

The knife has been removed for a while now, it's just the best view of the PC.
It doesn't interfere with prone because I'm left handed. It's all good where it is, tovarisch.
The mags themselves also sit a lot lower now, I've made lots of changes.

>>33276017
>>33276180
Left handed. The mags are fine where they are and I can reload and hit the prone just fine. The knife was in a shit tier spot, I just took it off the PC altogether.
>>
>>33276338
>left handed
>Knife removed
>Mags sit lower

Everything is much better now. Things make sense again.
>>
>>33276376
Yeah, the Mayflower didn't have Velcro deep into the kangaroo pouch so I had to add some Velcro deeper in the pocket so the mag retainers would actually work as intended.
>>
>>33276437
Do you have a mag insert or just stick them in there?
>>
So, is the HSP D3CR worth it as a first chest rig?
I don't own a plate carrier and just want some kind of chest rig to hold AR mags when I'm shooting. The price seems kinda high, not that the money is an issue, I just really can't justify buying one without having a plate carrier to attach it to and only using it a couple times a month, plus I'd be leaving the pistol pouches empty because I don't own a full-sized pistol or OWB holster.

Also considering getting just a cheap Condor Recon since I won't really be using it that often and won't really care about construction quality.

Of note, I'm currently using a chicom SKS chest rig to carry my AR mags, looking to upgrade because mags don't draw smoothly and reholstering a mag requires two hands.
>>
>>33276624
There's mag inserts with Esstac retaining straps. Like I was mentioning, the Mayflower didn't have Velcro all the way down the pouch so until I modified it, they wouldn't sit all the way down because they werent fastened to anything, just sitting in the pouch.

I've heard of it and I have a lot of problems with it imo. It's very large width and thickness wise and you don't even get anything for it. No molle space, it's hard to find belt mount clips that big, and you can't even use it for vehicle / repelling ops despite how much material it has because of plastic buckle and I'm not sure how good the stitching is. All around you're paying $60 for something to hang a holster from and that seems to be about it.

If you want a good basic belt any riggers belt from a reputable company will serve you well. Our friend GT uses the Wilderness instructor belt. If you're into molle belts then anything by Ronin or Tyr.

some memes have too much power.
>>
Quick reminder to everyone that plates by themselves are a meme. Most (battle) casualties in wartime have been caused by fragmentation and blunt trauma, not gun shot wounds.
>>
>>33285816
I wonder how many more casualties there would have been in Iraq ans Afghanistan if troops WEREN'T wearing armor inserts and plates...

Plates aren't a meme. They've saved lives and protect your vitals. Sometimes all it takes is reassurance that you're not dead on spot if shot to get up and over the hill you're stuck on.

In terms of civvie use I'm not so much a fan of armor but in any modern theater of combat body armor does wonders for keeping people living.

Weight, heat retention/dehydration....Moving like a tortoise and being fatigued adds up to death also. Besides they have such a small coverage area that is also dependent on the angle with which you are facing the threat.

Airshit is fun though, it's basically oper8r larping.

It actually makes some sense to spend that much on gear for airshit. It'll get more use than 90% of the stuff guys in here use seeing as chest rigs/PCs/ect. aren't necessary unless you're military or law enforcement.

That's my logic anyway.

Looking for T-shirts to wear in the warmer months.

I live in Eastern NC, spend a lot of time in West-Central NC. Both get hot and humid as fuck in the summer all the way until December.

I don't really want to wear "combat shirts" for a few reasons, but I would like some lightweight T-shirts that will make life easier, instead of harder, when I'm sweating my balls off under my gear.

I tend to wear cotton shirts in my day-to-day life, but cotton innawoods seems like a bad idea. What kinds of fabrics should I be looking at?

My Father used to wear Merrells as his daily boot. I told him how comfortable my pair of Lowa renegades are, and now that is all he wears. Are Merrells bad, no, but if you have the coin for a more comfortable boot why not? Also, he was using a custom insert for the Merrells and uses the same insert for the Lowas.

Side note: Points of failure between Merrells and his first set of Lowas are different too. All of his pairs (5+) of Merrells blew out at the pinky toe region or started separation at that area. The Lowas have been going strong everywhere except for the sole, which is almost thrashed, but he was just testing these out to see how far he can push them before they are no mas.
>>
>>33291012
Just find a company that makes shirts in the material if it really bothers you that much
>>
>>33290919
Just get a sweat wicking type shirt. Go to an outdoor store and get nearly any base layer for the temperature/level of activity you need. Consider just getting the store brand stuff if your poorfag (REI, EMS, etc).

Under armor story: They dropped sponsership of these hunters who were hunting a bear IRC, they used a spear, and posted pictures of it to social media, a backlash from SJW's caused UA to drop sponsorship, however they did not drop sponsorship of all hunting activities, they still to this day continue to sponsor hunters.

You did fine. The eagle h harness is a solid piece of kit that will do you right. It has enough real estate to accomplish everything you want out of a LBV. It will also disperse the weight very well along your hips. Solid buy, well worth the money

I have 1 person locally that has an NVG helmet setup so I figure a strobe is smart to have so we dont shoot each other when we go coyote hunting with them, the strobe is just velco so Ill take it off when not in use.

I'm not saying they are just as good as or better than other boots, but they do just fine. I'm still curious how guys are blowing them out in 12 months. I've got a pair going on 3 years that I wear religiously hiking and hunting. At about the 2 to 3 year mark is when I start to see materials and seams start to blowout, but given their price point I'm not real disappointed by that.

When someone tries to shit on someone's kit over a pair of Merrells though I find it a little funny, as if the boots are going to blowout out of nowhere in the field.
