Maybe someday I'll pick up an A1/SP1. I just don't care enough about ARs to have two 20" ARs that in practice will do about the same thing when plinking (implying I actually plink with them as I rarely shoot my 20" AR already). If the one I already had wasn't so sentimental I'd sell it for an A1 but I won't

Plus the money I'd end up spending on one I'd rather dump toward more slavshit. The XM was different because that's just straight up cool and I needed it, A1s are cool but not nearly as cool as an XM

I own both an AK and an AR. They are both exceptional weapons, however I prefer the Kalashnikov for it is simpler overall and you can put it on safe when it's not cocked, which is a downside to the AR in my opinion. I paid 1100 a couple months back for my AR (1973 Colt SP-1)

I can understand that. After I pick up the XM today and build the A1, I'll have a 12.5, 16 and a 20. I may SBR my 6920 down the road but I'm done with AR's for the considerable future. I need more slavshit too. I want a Maadi next, but I may be about to buy a brand new car so probably no new guns for a while

>>33249849
I would have gotten an SP1 but they make terrible clones. All in all it was 1500 for the A1

I've got a ban era Colt MT6700 that was my dads when I was a kid. It was the rifle I really learned to shoot on when I was 10 or so and he eventually gave it to me. I'll never get rid of it because of that, it's really cool having the exact gun that I was really taught on. I've got a bunch of 16" ARs throughout my family that I can shoot pretty much whenever but this one was the only full size rifle of them all and that's why I liked it so much, and because of that I don't really want a normal old M4gery because they're everywhere in my family. I've got that and one of those Troy XM177E2 clones they had at SHOT and that fills the roll of being a shorter AR while being cool, and I love carry handles and irons so I don't care about optics on it.

The Colt and this Norinco AK (that I also grew up shooting, especially around the age of 13 or 14 when I really really fell in love with AKs after shooting the shit out of this rifle) were both my dads and were my 18th birthday present and wedding present at 21, respectively, and both of which are hugely sentimental for me and I'll keep forever and ever

Finally got my SAR-2 front end conversion finished today. I opted to go with the JMac Customs 22mm thread adapter. I like it, it seems high quality but the inner diameter was bored way off, luckily I know a guy who owns a machine shop and we reamed it out and got it on my barrel. Im using a CNC warrior brake for the time being until I can get an actual rommy 22mm brake.

It's a Czechpoint. It's by far my favorite 7.62x39 rifle and its served me well for nearly a decade after who knows how many thousands of rounds. If it came down to only ever being able to keep one rifle it'd be a very very hard choice between it and my SLR104, I love it that much

Intrac Maadi, 1995 import (I think, it's either 95 or 94 but I don't remember off the top of my head, pretty sure it's 95 tho)

Gas block is canted, the stock is crooked and bent, finish is ugly (although not nearly as bad as it's made out to be) but it works like a champ and is cool so I don't care about any of that

>>33250535
They're expensive now which sucks, they're really really great but I don't think I'd be able to spend the $1200 or whatever it is that Czechpoint charges for them now. I wish I would have picked up one of the Century rifles when they were $400 with a bunch of extras but now even those are like $600 used which is only $50 less than what I paid for my Czechpoint NIB and that's just weird for me. I should have took advantage of cheap vzs and vz parts when they were cheap but I didn't

Ah. Regardless it's still a nice rifle even if it is beat up a bit. AKs for the most part are designed to take beatings and keep working, like that carcass of a Milled '47 that was found in africa that still circulates occasionally on here.

Yeah, I didn't care about any of it as long as it worked. I just liked that it's a factory Egyptian rifle. I was on the fence about buying Arabic marked Maadi parts and having one built or just buying a factory one and decided that a factory rifle would be cooler than some neat squiggles

$50 an alright price, every once in a while they pop up for $30-$40 on the files but they sell really quick. I just sold one on eBay a few months back for $68 so for $50 id say you did well enough. I feel bad for all the suckers who pay $100 for them from KVar

They're one of the coolest looking modern bayonets IMO, and what's neat about the (10) ones is that they're easily available so you can beat the shit out if it and actually have fun with it and just buy another instead of having a nice Izhmash one and wanting to keep it pretty

No, to get flecks you've got to strike the mag bodies with a chisel or punch or something, fill in the markings with epoxy, and then soak the mags in the mixture and they'll blend in just like genuine flecks.

Unfortunately for FALs you can't use it in that position since the hammer will just follow the bolt home everytime

AK will do it to if you have a FA safety and trigger group, idk what you have in yours

>not that i've tried either of them :^
>>
>>33252544
Full auto polish group with the disconnector from a akt trigger. Could not use the full out saftey with the original disconnector.
>>
>>33252580
Couldn't fit them or you were getting hammer follows?
>>
>>33252611
Could not fit the full auto saftey past the diconector. Im told there is a way, i just got tired with fucking with it. The issue may have been my retaining plate. The trigger group has worked fine for 500rnds so far.

Probably have to file it, it's how I fit all my stuff together. It'll make your FA position useless though so probably shouldn't do that

I wish I coulda bought that 74M safety on the Files recently tho
>>
>>33252694
Are you going to do the bullet guide? If so, GO REALLY SLOW when tapping threads in the hole. Use lots of oil, and back out to clear the tap of metal shavings often. You don't want to break the tap off inside the hole.
Oh, and this should go without saying but turn the tap by hand. Don't chuck it into a drill and try to do it slowly. You need to be able to feel when the tap is starting to bind up as it cuts the threads.
>>
>>33252856
This is good advice. Always want to use a tap handle, turn until you feel resistance and then back off to hear the crunch.
>>
>>33252717
I was trying to avoid that, in case we ever get full funs again. I dont want buy another disconnector.

Patches finally came in. All of this for $15 shipped on the Files. I finally have a garage of my own now so I figured I could pin them on felt or something and hang them up or something like that, just something fun to make the garage more mine instead of all bare

Not a patch fag at all but just thought it'd be fun
>>
>>33252973
Dunno what your trigger group looks like but I had to file from the opposite side that blocks the disconnector, if mine had a FA profile it'd still be able to be select fire with the rest of the right pieces

Finally have my eyes set on getting a good AK, and I need some help deciding.

I recently got my Concealed Weapon License, picking up my chosen handgat in a week. I already have an HBAR 20" A2 style AR, and I just need myself an AK. I want a x39 AK to start out, cause I know I will splurge on a Krink or full size 74 in time.

My options are wide open and my budget is large enough for most AK's other than pre-ban Polytech stuff and Maadi's and what-not.

So...

>Underfolder or Fixed Stock?
>Best mid and high tier rifles right now?

I am thinking I want an underfolder... I like the underfolder stocks that cant downward slightly, but I am not sure if that angle can be adjusted or not.

Help me! I haven't lurked in far too long.

The Chicom was all my dads after buying tons and tons of it in the 80s but the GT is all mine. The first centerfire selfloading rifle I bought was my vz when I was 18 so I mean I've got nine years of buying 7.62x39 under my belt, in actuality I haven't bought any 7.62x39 since like 2013 because I bought so much over the years when I could afford to buy as much as I did. All together between my parents' house and my house I've got around 10k rounds of GT 7.62x39 but again it's all from a while back. Just buy 1000 rounds every few months and stock it up and it'll add up over time as long as you don't shoot it all, that's what I'm trying to do with 5.45 but I shoot it about as fast as I buy it so it isn't working too well

Do you have a pic of your grip? Does it have as much as mine? I'm no expert on anything AR related so I'm not sure where mine sits on the scale of how much mottle is considered a lot or too little, but I was very happy with the amount I got in mine. If its less than I think it is I'll probably pick up a nicer one too

I was actually the opposite with mags, I had a ton of handmedown surplus 20 rounders but only two 30 round USGI mags and one Pmag so I had to buy more 30 round USGI mags

I'm reading the pastebin, and I'm slightly confused by the language. Is it saying that I shouldn't touch any Century-imported AK that uses Zastava parts with a ten foot pole, or that it would be okay to purchase Zastava parts?

I only have about 3k of 7.62 and about 4k of 5.45, but I've been shooting a lot lately so it's been pretty hard to stack up. I've only been buying guns for almost two years so I suppose I have some time to get my ammo collection up to par.

The mottling on the grip they sent me is really dark, I can't even get it to show up on camera but it does look pretty cool. It's little waves of gray instead of the light colored mottling. The one in the pic is what the guy I bought my A1 lower from gave me. It's very mottled, probably a little more so than yours. I can't get a good picture of it now but I'll try to take one in the light tomorrow. There's a guy selling a bunch of grips on the files, I'll probably get one or two from him
>>
>>33256994
Don't buy parts kit Century rifles. Really don't buy any commercial parts kit rifles.

Buy the real deal PAP series rifles or WASR-10s, that's it.
>>
>>33257017
Thanks for clearing it up. Mainly the asterisk line here.
> *Anything that's not Zastava built or Cugir built, refer to the below list of acceptable models, all Century imports will be marked with a (ᶜ) from here on. If a Century rifle is not on the below list, DON'T FUCKIN BUY IT
It seems to imply that Zastava and Cugir-based parts are just not worth it, since they're not listed below in the "do buy" section. May just be me having a hard time understanding it, though. I'm rather new to this.
>>
>>33256983

>>
>>33257046
>all Century imports will be marked with a (ᶜ) from here on.

Not the guy you're talking to, but that line is the important bit. If a rifle has that mark (ᶜ) then it's OK. That means it was imported by Century and OK.

If a gun was MADE by Century, like the C39V2 or RAS47, do not buy it.

It can be a bit confusing at first, with Century both importing and making rifles, but the more you are exposed to this sort of info the more clear it will become to you.
>>
>>33257090
Thanks. The hobby is... dizzyingly confusing to get into, and I'm trying to get all the research I can done before I even begin saving up for anything. First will probably be a used 22lr gun for < $150 from the pawn shops and local gun stores in the area, but I'd like for my first rifle to be part of the Eastern Bloc aesthetic.

I haven't seen any deals on an SLR104 on AKFiles or GunBroker. It's mostly people trying to sell their 'package deals' or selling used rifles at new prices.
>>
>>33257171
tombstone tactical or atlantic firearms both had slr 104 with the polymer folding stock last i checked. But i found a better deal for one on akfiles so i just went with that. Good luck.
>>
>>33257207
If you can afford it, find a decent package deal and then sell off the shit you don't want

Brought the cost of my SLR down to barely a few hundred and brought the total cost of my STG down to 1000 doing that
>>
>>33257236
>find a decent package deal
That's the catch. If I could get one with shit that's actually worth something or at least easy to sell I might bother.

What is the opinion of Atlantic's imported Zastavas?
>>
>>33257633
That's not imported, it's a kit build.
Albeit one with an original barrel, but it's a kit build nonetheless.
Those handguards are atrocious, and M92s were underfolders not sidefolders.
>>
>>33257685
sorry, I meant a kit build you're right

To each their own on the handguards, but is there any particular reason why switching from underfolder to sidefolder is a strong no for you?

Here's a "translated" version, but the name of the book or magazine is at the top of the page it appears.

I'm okay with this. I still wish someone would make a 37mm GP-25 flare gun
>>

It's not proper for that rifle, so it's a "kyber build".
Mix and mash of countries and variants.

Other than that, it seems ok.
A little steep in the pricetag though.
