You're looking at 600+ for a receiver unless you luck the fuck out and depending on the kit you can be anywhere from 400 to over a grand before you even talk to a builder or get a receiver

I would definitely not consider myself any sort of resource on FAL building. I've just been browsing the FALfiles and watching Flandre's videos and I'll probably talk to him about it when I see him this weekend.

I'll add that the Imbel kits that gunplumber currently has up on gunbroker are pretty nice. On a slightly less related note, did you see that izzy FAL kit up on the files marketplace? Gotdamn that thing is nice.

I was looking at the kits on Gunthing's website and one of the builders he linked. $585 plus about $500ish for the build, plus $200 or so for a Coonan receiver isn't terrible, but I'm just sorta poking around to see what's what at the moment. This will be a "next year" build, assuming I don't just go full retard and buy a SCAR.

Either way, it'll probably be way less costly and time consuming than my '83 build, which, as I mentioned a couple threads back, is currently on Year 3 and at about $2200 before factoring in mags and ammo. I absolutely refuse to believe a FAL build will ever be that troublesome.

I haven't had any luck with them in the cardboard boxes, but since they are also paper wrapped and stapled I guess I could take them out of the boxes and try that way.

So I'm getting the conversion kit for my saiga sporter within the next day or two, I see in all the tutorials that everyone puts the bho back in after the fcg has been moved up. If it were me then I would put the receiver in a vise wrapped in a towel, depress the detent with one hand and with the other, stick a wooden rod through the chamber of the brake to use as a breaker bar. Or you can use a metal rod or anything if you aren't worried about dinging the brake.

Heating the muzzle brake would also help.

Bad news concerning 5.45 GT, and GT in general:

>It is going to be very limited, I got one big shipment but it is almost sold out, what is left may last a week, while it was hot on Friday and over the weekend the excitement on this is wearing out fast. Just found out today there will be another partial container of 5.45 coming in with 762x39 in a few weeks, then that is it for 2017 as far as I know, but maybe some more late in the year. I know Golden tiger is going to slow down imports due to the slow market sales on 762x39 (and everything else)

I'm hoping to add another full case next week if it lasts that long. I'm hoping that 8m3 won't go away again because people are sleeping on shit trying to save one or two cents a round.

I had them handy and it's more to protect the rails than anything. It doesn't seem like very high quality plastic, or at least not hard enough that the rails would stand up well to being hit against things frequently.

Mine have held up pretty well with my just generally tossing it around, but I think with the flashlight mounted it puts force at the base rather than on the edges of the rails which I could see flaking with some beating

The plastic was at least decent enough to not let the light mount rip it off the lower handguard when it got slammed though, so they're not horrible quality

Of the bands I mentioned above Aквapиyм (Aquarium) is kinda like Russian classic rock (they have tons of albums that go through tons of kinds of music, to Beatles-ish to Jethro Tull-ish to weird reggae sounding stuff) and Кoлибpи (Kolibri) is a female fronted pop band

For more guitar stuff of the bands I've mentioned I'd suggest Bи-2's self titled release and Aквapиyм's Blue album (mostly acoustic) but neither of those are really guitar wankery stuff. A more guitar-y Russian post rock band I like quite a bit is Powder! Go Away
