Anyone with any connection to the IAF will tell you it's total BS. The whole shebang about making it into an "F35-I" by installing domestic costume made electronics is because Israel demanded that it will be delivered in skeleton form.
How long this thing is Israel? Like 3 months? Even if we take in account parallel development of all the needed systems and IAF's tenancy to be very efficient and field stuff ahead of schedule, Israel simply lacks the money and manpower to make it fully operational in this time frame.

MiG 1.44 was only 1 meter shorter and less than 2 meters longer span than J-20 is. It's hardly a stretch that the J-20 might draw heavily from the MiG 1.44 (especially considering all the layoffs at MiG when the program was cancelled - lots of desperate engineers with access to technical details).

Neither were early ATF concepts, but that doesn't mean the F-22 isn't derived from them.

A lot of the time a picture is all the engineers themselves have to go off of. McDonnell-Douglas tried to duplicate the MiG-25 based on nothing but grainy pictures and hearsay, and they wound up with the F-15. With reverse engineering and industrial espionage, you take what you can get. And it sure looks like the Chinese got a lot.
