How feasible is this idea?

Hey kids do you like Wind noise and rotor buzzing right on top of your fucking head?
Boy do i have the thing for you.

how does this work
magnets?

Just electric fans and thrust.

So yeah. Magnets.

Seems like a job for /o/

Take high school physics

Something like a skyrunner paraglider buggy is much more practical

Do you not know how electric motors work?

Feasible but inefficient.
Use bigger fans.

Logically the next question this discussion has to be: Fucking magnets. HOW DO THEY WORK?
>>
>>33236169
>>33236173

Quadcopter would have to be much bigger than what is in pictures and given how much space there is for engines/motors and fuel/batteries its range would suck. Since rotors are damn small, those would have to have silly RPM, air flow in carried open topped vehicle would be pretty silly as well.

Pic related is the practical solution.

cutting edge tech...

>>33236169

do you have a portable nuclear reactor that weighs less than a gas tank?

if not, then your idea is not feasible

they(darpa) were trying to make a flying vehical that could be easy to fly with a driving licence and drive on land. It was started all the way back in 2005 i think.

this is the video of an experimental aircraft they had

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDay5OWDPn4

the idea was they wanted to use flying vehicals to do partols cos people kept getting hit with ied's. Also they wanted more helicopters but they didn't have that many pilots.

>Since rotors are damn small, those would have to have silly RPM

Ducted rotors are pretty thrust efficient. They can spin faster because they don't have the length that full sized rotors have, and they have less blade tip losses.

Compare the size of the X-22, the Moller Skycar, and teh Black Knight Transformer (Max take off weight of of 4,400 lb if you can't find it)

>its range would suck.
>Pic related is the practical solution.
You're not wrong though

How can USA even compete?
>>
>>33238052

>were trying to make a flying vehical that could be easy to fly with a driving licence

This is pretty much impossible unless the craft's maximum ceiling is something ridiculously low like 200 feet. But even then, the entire concept of "lift" is fairly difficult to impart on the average driver, many of whom barely understand the concept of "mass" (as in, the mass of their vehicle slamming on the brakes compared to the mass of the semi truck behind them).
>>
>>33237989
We call this one "the blender".
>>
>>33236284
>doesn't know that the USA has secret stealth rotors
>>
>>33237989
that's one brave test pilot
>>
>>33236169
That's cute.

Dumpy, but cute.
>>
>>33237885
>Flying around with your gas-powered octocopter
>One engine misfires and the copter lurches
>Slip and drop your remote control
>Throttle gets pushed to full when it hits the ground
>Slowly climb uncontrollably until you finally plummet due to either fuel starvation of radio failsafe
>>
>>33236169
Not on that scale. Quadcopters are inherently shit with energy because they have to lift absolutely everything on the craft which takes a lot of power.
>>
>>33241453
Modern hobby grade autopilots have fail safes to prevent exactly that happening. The ardupilot software is currently having adaptive control integrated into its code.
