>When he talking up his hard ass combat deployment to Bagram Afghanistan to all the civvies
>>
>>33232762
God I hate that. Im a combat vet in stealth mode (no moto tats, no moto gear, keep my mouth shut.)

Some chick in my sociology class was in bagram and literally does exactly that. Never shuts up about how she totally heard mortar fire once.

Of course everyone showers her constantly with adoration over what a strong independant woman she is and if she ever needs to talk to somebody about it they are there for her. Watching her preen as civvies worship a supply warehouse worker is irritating to say the least.
>>
>>33233392
>some chick
Wonder how many dicks she took in Bagram
>>
Let them nig. This is the America that we fought for. I served in Kuwait '09 I know exactly how you feel.
>>
>>33236020
>served
>Kuwait
>>
>>33236020
>I served in Kuwait '09
what'd you server?
chicken? pizza?

i thought they farmed out the serving to halliburton.

>be in iraq
>half rations, no power, no water, sleep outside most nights, nights I dont are in an abandoned aircraft hangar
>every so often get shelled
>guys crawl through wire with suicide vests atleast once a week
>no internet, mail never gets delivered, have utterly zero contact with home for the entire time
>did I mention half rations? There was never enough to eat. You know what makes thanksgiving and christmas in iraq even more depressing?
>When you miss the special "for the troops" dinner because you were on a patrol and the fobbits who ate it all give you a stale half of a sandwich in consolation
>FINALLY the freedom bird brings us 150 miles south to kuwait
>4 fast food chains, swimming pools, tennis courts, movie theater, videogames, wifi everywhere,
>more food per plate than I would see in a day in iraq
>hot ass airforce bitches just strutting around in short shorts and no bras
>I had been living like a savage so long I just stood there staring at it all like a barbarian who had been let into rome
>some airforce guy notices the marine uniform
>laughs
>"dont worry, it aint much but you get used to roughing it"
>realize he is mistaking me for somebody who just got there from the states
>speechless, I kinda just shake my head and walk away to go stare at overweight middle aged canadians gorge themselves on KFC and carls jr.

I mean the whole time I was in iraq I kinda just took in the suck with quiet resignation because we thought "well it sucks but thats what going expeditionary is for ya."

Not even a few hours south these guys were not just living in the lap of luxury, but were COMPLAINING about it.

I think its funny cuz guys who havent been expeditionary complain that they were never afforded the opportunity, guys who have complain cuz they missed out on the good living.

I wish I had a deployment at all. Especially one that would make me as grizzled and hardened as you. Army medic here. Thanks for your service you crayon-eating fuck.
>>
>>33236576
>tfw you never got the chance to suffer like this
Curse my life of generic malady but ultimately little to no true discomfort. How I envy the able, simply because they can. Spank your cervix my man.
>>
>>33236602
Wasnt nothin else to eat, if you squinted and mentally projected yourself somewhere else far far away you could almost pretend it was real food.

I hated danish guys so bad for the longest time over that christmas thing. We staggered back from a patrol that had taken 3 days longer than it should have thinking wed get a good meal for the first time in forever and all these effeminate european fobbit fucks had eaten all of it.

Fuckin danes. Im getting pissed off just thinking about it.

Honestly that was the biggest morale killer. I can sleep in a hole in the ground for 9 months, get shot at, no mail etc etc so long as I can get atleast 1 full meal a day.

I think there is nothing so demoralizing as never quite having enough to eat for months on end. Lost 25 pounds, and beginning deployment at 160 I did not start with much extra to lose.

Afghanistan was just frustrating and pointless, but when I think of iraq I just remember being fuckin hungry all the time.

You could no shit track this guys mental decline via his daily white board graffiti.

Chechen war guy here
We had the same deal, there was never any fucking food and it was always cold.

When we got sent back to the actual base, where there was "food" (Russian food isn't exactly fine dining), there was always some year one conscript fuck complaining about it or something.

Iraq looked fun. Is that fucked to say? Fun in a twisted way.
>>
>>33236814
We got into a firefight with a group of about 40 chechens in afghanistan. Drug runners I think. We could tell right off the bat they werent average hajis cuz they actually knew how to use their weapons and didnt run away. By far some of the most sadistic and tenacious fighters we ever engaged, kudos to you if you really fought them, they killed 2 of my friends with sniper fire and left me deaf on my left side from an RPG strike.

I wasnt in iraq when things were fun, I was there last year on a base that had been abandoned for 8 years.

Iraqis had stripped everything, power lines, pipes, doors, windows, EVERYTHING.

There were 500 of us (300 danes, 200 marines, and a SEAL team).

The base had been built for 40,000 people so there were literally square kilometers of abandoned structures we couldnt secure and had to patrol constantly. ISIS liked to bumrush suicide bombers into the abandoned zones and play hide and seek.

We got tired of it and just started dropping mortars danger close whenever they tried it.

To describe how totally out of touch with the real world we were we didnt even know trump and hillary were the presidential canidates until we got home.

We did learn that there were russian troops a few hundred kliks west, we used to joke about getting in the humvees and driving over to see if they wouldnt mind selling us some vodka and cigarettes.
>>
Deployed to Afghanistan 09', in a transportation unit (88H aka truck gunner bitch for whatever unit our company is under) the females slowly but surely ended up at Bagram for disciplinary reasons and being a general embarrassment to the human species.
>>
>>33236896
Arent wooks just fucking terrible? We had some motor-T wooks get put in our infantry barracks for some reason. They were drinking and being shrill and irritating at noon on a wednesday and some guy passing by commented that he thought having males and females in the same billeting was bad for maintaining order. Some bitch freaked out and started walking around the barracks all shriekey calling random grunts she encountered out to a fight.

WE got in trouble for "harassing" HER. Nobody had anything to do with her beyond one guys passing comment that she was being detrimental to maintaining order, which she was.

Im glad I got out before the PC integration started.
>>
>go to Navy boot camp in less than a month
>Army/Air Force wouldn't take me 'cause criminal record
>not a fucking moron so didn't into Marines
>will never experience the camaraderie of how shitty ground warfare can be with my friends
>penis

On the one hand, great. On the other hand, sad.
>>
>>33232762
my uncle was apparently pretty lucky, his job was guarding the ammo after being drafted to vietnam (MP).

I wonder if he got to fingerfuck the M16s too.
>>
>>33236874

Most Chechens we monitored crossing out of Russia (and that's something we all feel awful for-ROEs kept us from doing much, FSB basically kneecapping us-bastards) were either running heavy weaponry they had stolen from the Transcaucasia Military District at the fall of the Union, or were running drugs to buy back the weapons.
Poppy was a big deal, it's how most of the Heroin epidemic in central Russia start.
What else helped was sometimes the patrols-20-60 men at times, were often better armed then us, who were small 7+3 man patrols intended to just keep the peace.

The war was a lot different though. Lot of fighting, a lot of dispair. Never could go home after it.

Fuck Muslims.
>>
>>33236924

Same guy you were responding to. One got sent to Germany for "suicide attempt" (taking a shitload of motrin) and she had previously had a kid, on deployment, with a guy in our unit. Also, every female got demoted on thay deployment except one, who should have.
>>
>>33236962
Yeah, sounds about right. Chechens came south with guns and headed north with opium so the russian mafia could refine it into heroin.

They were a big part of financing the taliban, who wouldnt have had a pot to piss in if the cheches werent always there trading ordinance and arms for every gram of opium paste the talibs could scrape together.

Also pimped themselves out as guns for hire, taliban used chechen mercenaries as specialists like snipers, mortar teams, and RPG teams.

You could always tell if it was native or chechen by shooting at them. If they ran it was afghan, if the fire intensified it was chechen.

The chechens got smuggling and gun for hire operations set up all throughout afghanistan and pakistan.

Its why I've always stressed more cooperation between russia and the US, we would fill in eachother's gaps very niceley. If we'd just extend a little trust both ways the guys you saw moving south coulda been ambushed as soon as they crossed into our area of operations, and you guys could have ambushed em fleeing back north.

Could have set up a fucked up game of ping-pong and strangled the talibans and chechens supply lines.
>>
>>33236951
What'd you do? Just curious because I got rejected from Muh-reens for a sealed record
>>
>>33236962
Also if it makes you feel any better we always sought out and destroyed opium shipments we captured heading north.

I think all total we blew up 500 kilos of opium resin. A drop in the bucket, but we fuckin slaughtered those assholes whenever we found em.

Drug runners dont get rights according to geneva conventions, so we didnt need to take any prisoners.

Taliban arent covered either but thanks to abu grab and all that political bullshit we had to be nice to taliban who surrendred. Chechen and pakistani smugglers were pretty much free game though.

Brother started a fight, beat him silly, bounced head off hardwood floor in the process, felt dizzy, called cops/paramedics to get checked out for concussion, mom lied to protect him. Was charged with a domestic violence misdemeanor but it was dropped. I'm told that any branch could have gotten me a waiver but neither wanted to do the work. Oh well, Navy gets me out of this shitty midwestern town and into a guaranteed paycheck.
>>
>join navy
>put on submarines
>hate that it

I hated how technical my training was, so much math, man.
I feel like I should've joined the Army, maybe even the corps.
Is it normal to wish you had chosen a different branch and actually did something?

I've killed more men then Cotton Hill

UAVs man.

I miss it

If they were stationed at Bagram in '12, they probably had a tomahawk tied to their belt the whole time. God knows I saw enough mint condition baby axes walking up and down Disney when I rotated out in November.
>>
>>33238226
How the fuck those became "a thing" is beyond me. I had a buddy ship me a SOG one while I was deployed. It was a neat toy, but clearly a total meme.
>>
>>33237714
lad m8 pal

Think about how many people get the opportunity to live and work in a submarine. You're one of few, there's more excitement doing that your whole career then maybe going to afghan once in 6 years and getting into a couple of firefights.
>>
>>33236962
Did you fight in the first or second chechen war? I'm an ameriboo never served, but I read about it. grozny sounded hellish
>>
>>33238234

I think a video game came out that year that featured them.

Shut the fuck up about the Midwest you wannabe urbanite faggot. That's real America unlike these coastal globalist trade centers. Suck a dick.
>>
>>33238366
Oh shit yeah. Black Ops 2.

That's like when Modern Warfare 3 came out, I noticed like a dozen guys got side flip magnifiers for their issued Aimpoint. (Not that the side flips are useless, it was just a funny result)

>>
>>33238629
In afghan we didnt have a FOB, we just hopped around between temporary PB's.

We were the last infantry group operating outside the wire as a vanguard to cover the withdrawal. Our goal was to be as disruptive as possible over as wide an area as possible and jumped around randomly targeting enemy supply and logistics to keep them too focused on defending what they had to gather enough resources for a large scale offensive.

I guess obama wanted to maintain the illusion we were leaving upon having completed the job rather than cut and run. Hard to do that when you have a haji version of the tet offensive spoiling all your media lapdogs messege that the war is over.

From 2013 to 2014 all that shit in the news about "local national security forces achieving stunning gains" was pretty much just us. They gave credit to the ANA because obama said "dont you guys know its 2014! The war is over! Yay me!" And he couldnt have something on the news like a company of marines getting into a 4 day firefight in afghan with some chechens spoiling it.

In 9 months we had 37 firefights, uncounted small engagements, and we raided the shit out of dozens of supply caches and training camps, meanwhile the news repeated over and over that the war had ended.

Easier to ask how many she didn't.

The answer is zero.

There was not a dick she ecountered that did not end up lodged in one of her orifices.

They didnt call er the shop vac cuz she was so chaste and upstanding afterall.
