Okay well I went down to the pawnshop and the usp compact 45 that I really wanted is gone now and out of frustration and being upset I simply walked out of the store.

So here once I got home I just remembered they had alot of walther pistols and I felt stupid for getting upset enough not to stay and look at some of them instead to see if I could get a walther ppk or whatever the initials are chambered in 9mm and not 380 as an alternative to the usp compact 45.

So are walther pistols chambered in 9mm good or bad and what should I know about them?
>>
>>33232369
A walther ppk 9mm is a decent gun to get.

Sorry you missed out bro. I fucking love mine, best pistol I've ever owned.
>>
walther ppk chambered in 9mm para?...... This isn't a thing.

They might say 9mm on the side but they mean 9mm kurz/short
>>
>>33232413
Yeah I really wanted that pistol but missed my chance at getting the usp.

Not trying to sound autistic though about it but it really does out me in a down mood though.

>>33232440
Well I like the james bond style look of the guns but I would like to have it in 9mm though so which walther pistol shoots the 9mm and not the 380?

The ppk style you are referring to is the slim "blowback" pistol configuration. There is no guide rod and the barrel is fixed. Anything above 9mm doesn't work in this configuration due to the much larger amount of blowback from the 9mm. I like .380 its a great defensive cartridge. But ya if you want it to look like a ppk it has to be .380 or bellow.

This is a Sig p230. Its also a "blowback" pistol. But is a bit lighter with a longer barrel too. Notice the lack of guide rod and fixed barrel.

I understand dude. Let me tell you a story, since you kind of remind me of my taste in guns.

After coming home from Afghanistan, I had like 10 guns, had to sell them all until I was only left with a PPK .380 and my Lee Enfield. Was homeless, etc.after graduating with my associates. Got a job, started getting back on my feet, went on to a university, got a gf who made good money, wanted more guns (missed my first USP45c and my old P-01).

After work one day, I was riding with my gf in the car and decided to go look at the local gun store to see what they had. Lo and behold, they had a CZ 75b and a USP compact in .45. My girlfriend said she had never seen me more depressed than when I held them that day.

I saved my cash, gritted my teeth and waited. Got a LNIB USP45c for $600, and then a P-01 for $550. Bought a USPT45 and built an AR after that, all while being a college student.

Just be strong and hang in there, patience is rewarded. Pic related, current collection.
>>
>>33232524
Idk much about walther pistols but is that a 9mm?

I guess I'm really shit out of luck since i would prefer to have a 9mm that isn't the size of a Beretta and at least looks close to the james bond gun style.

I ain't really good eith gun names so forgive me when i use names from shows or such to describe a particular gun.

Damn I really wanted the usp.

I like your tastes as well.

>>33232586
No its a .380
All walther ppk looking pistols are .380 because ppk looking pistols are all blowback and blowback is only feasible up to .380

And don't worry anon. We are here to talk guns, ask away. I was very interested in the ppk before but I grew out of it because to get an authentic one would cost thousands and theres better options out there that are similar.

And the USP thing. Anon if you wanted one gun and couldn't get it, now you're shopping for other guns, it sounds like you need to chill out. Really decide what you want. You'll find it.
>>
>>33232567
Thats a really nice gun collection you have there and I too have an ar15 but i brought the lower receiver but ain't got enough cash to buy all the parts to finish it so it just sits on my table until i save enough to build it up.

I guess I'll have to wait until they get another usp, they do have those vp9s but I'm really weary about those considering the poor quality i heard from them when they first came out.

Also my posts are sloppy because I'm using a phone and don't have a computer yet.

Being poor sucks.

my ccp has had a few issues

I love walthers but dont rush your self OP. If you really want an HK, another one will turn up. OR just buy both.

I was PC-less at the time of that story as well. I had nothing, I was living in my Jeep Grand Cherokee and showering at the gym after working out then going into my job.

Now I go to a nice university, have a girlfriend I live with in a two story townhouse in a nice neighborhood, and have two side jobs at breweries. I also built a PC, and have been able to travel several times a year. Life gets better, just hang in there and keep pushing up.

Pic is guns I had before I had to sell them all due to crippling money issues and having no home.

Your right on that last line of sentence.

I will wait out then and calm down before I go and buy something then get buyer's remorse and wait till they get another usp 45.

I'm gonna go make my list on the guns I actually do want that will make me happy once I get over from being down in the dumps.

>want a Gen 1 P99 for aesthetics
>want a Gen 2 P99 for utility
>can only get 1 right now
>2 P99s seems redundant
Teach me some collecting wisdom, Walther anon. Which should I get?
Also, is there a rail adapter or light for Gen 1s that you can actually get nowadays? That would solve my issue entirely.

I'm too poorfag for a P88, how similar is the Bersa Thunder 9? It looks like a visual rip of the P88 at the very least, and it actually felt pretty nice.
>>
>>33232907
Well since we have a good topic going I do also plan on waiting for the store to get some Remington 870 shotguns from the 90s since anything made by Remington in that timeline was actually decent and not poor quality like it is now.

But yeah I'm hoping to get the usp compact, Remington 870 post 90s shotgun and complete my ar15 build to complete what I want before thinking about any other guns.

Also thank you guys for not being assholes on this thread considering this is 4chan after all.
>>
>>33233002
>I'm too poorfag for a P88
get a 92fs.

>can only get 1 right now
Sounds like you're planning on using it so aesthetics dont really mean much.

>2 P99s seems redundant
and 4 ppqs seems reasonable? kek. get the one you'll use then get the one you'll baby and figure fuck. personally i'd get a ppq 9mm m1 over a p99 but you do you man.

I'm wanting to go into FLEO. Department of the Interior guys I talked to said getting your degree really helps, same thing with military service (chief ranger I spoke to said everyone in his office was prior .mil) plus I'm only less than 3 semesters away, may as well finish out.

>>
>>33233143
I thought the 4 made sense since they were all different calibers or mag releases, but I guess that's a similar difference to having a usable rail or not.
You're right about the use part, but I'm not in dire need of a new defense gun right now. It's more my mentality that I want to avoid snowballing with gun buying while also worrying that Gen 1s or any other out-of-production gun on my list will be that much more expensive or harder to find if I wait on it.
I'll probably end up getting a PPQ M1 in the future anyway, but I want to focus on the P99/P99s first since they seem a lot harder to come by.

>>33233334
Depends on what you want, anon. Having a college degree at all is useful for getting jobs in general. It was worth it for me because I wanted some lazy job that paid well and a degree makes getting those kinds of jobs a lot easier.

>>33233403

Thinking about switching to some language study. Linguistics and shit. The math man. I taught myself computer programming half drunk in the barracks it was a piece of cake. But the math. Its going to kill me.
>>
>>33233487
If you can deal with old people and become a SLP you can make bank in the geriatric side of things.

>>33233446
Ya I hear ya. The whole thing started cause I could do it, but I cant remember the last time I shot the 45 or 22. And lucked out on the p99, I wanted one and hickock45's was under 500 bucks so I said fuck it.

>I want to avoid snowballing with gun buying
It's really not a bad addiction :)
>>
>>33233487
Linguistics gives you a lot of flexibility since you can BS how it's relevant for a lot of jobs.

As long as you know basic math and shit, you're good enough for most programming/software engineering, literally 90% of them use calc 1 or 2 level math at most. Only high level or senior developers end up using that stuff in the end. You'd be fine doing programming if you have decent logic skills.

Here let me elaborate, I appreciate your input as a programmer.

>be me
>love coding and computers in general
>taught myself python
>took into to programming class (they used C++)
>never had homework because I crushed the assignments in like 10-15 minutes during class
>loved every second of it
>math made me want to cry like a little bitch every day
>next semester can't take more CS classes because I'm not far enough in math
>in precalc
>literally makes me question my existence and make me feel like an idiot
>makes me wonder if I'm even cut out for CS because apparently math is so important
>don't actually wanna get into the IT field
>want to be a cop or work for FBI or DEA or something exciting

What do anon? The math is driving me into autism, and all I want to do is LEO or DEA or FBI or anything sweet I really don't even care.
>>
>>33233647
If you want to be a cop or gubmint guy then you should follow your interests. If a job with action interests you more than a desk job then go for it, though you could still get a job with a more laid-back if you're as good at programming as you say.
Like I said, math is a meme unless you're shooting for a top dog position and having a good portfolio of coding work is more valuable than knowing discrete math or some crap, but go for the police job if that's what you really find interesting.

>>33233549
>It's not really a bad addiction
Yeah but I think I've bought my 6th gun in the span of like 3 months recently.
In all fairness, I think almost every gun I've bought was under 350 so I didn't even spend that much, but it seems like a slippery slope.
>>
>>33233764
I don't want to work for google which is like the one company that revolves around math. Them an database structuring guys prolly but. It just sucks man precalc is kicking my ass and I have 5 more semester of math after this just to say I can code.
