you can see elements of tacit blue and the f117 in it

Not sure exactly what it's supposed to make me think
Other than that it looks a lot like a lifting-body aircraft experiment.

Do people really think this thing was designed with stealth in mind?
It's not even the first flying wing

People see the correlation between the B-2 stealth bomber and the 229 and think "Oh, those german super engineers must've been making stealth wunder weapons!". Didn't help when Northrop made the documentary of them building a scale replica of it and testing it's RCS.
In reality, Jack Northrop was fucking obsessed with flying wings and had already made multiple flying wing bomber designs before. The B-2 was just the first one that actually won the contract it was competing for (albeit not designed by Jack himself this time).

Stealth in 1910 really makes you think those kittyhawk fuck Bois must have been trash.
>>33231794
Calling that "Stealth" is being pretty generous considering how very, very little is known about that plane. It supposedly had a reduced RCS, but we don't know how much or how applicable it was in reality.
>>33231940
northrop, although they had already made flying wing designs, did look at the Horten Ho 229 for possible design inspirations
that's not to imply that northrop took the Ho 229 as gospel for the B-2 design however

There's only so many shapes that make a stealth aircraft.

that Fw-190 roll rate ....
I used to bomb German airfields with a b17 then get low n slow with auto pilot to use all of the guns to destroy all the buildings that the bombs didn't get.

Back when Lucasarts made great games. Tie fighter being not only the best star wars game but my favorite flight sim of all time.
The emperor will be pleased

my grandfather worked as a piston engine mechanic on these bad mammajammas. He hated it. He said they constantly burned oil and were a nightmare to work on. He eventually got himself a tail gunner spot on pathfinder A26s in Korea and became a proto combat controller,

You're fucking stupid. It would've been "stolen" had the Russians actually been working on it and somebody snuck it out to us.
>>33236025
as much of a piece of shit as they were mechanically, you gotta admit, they're fucking cool.
it's a giant fucking tube with a shitload of engines meant to carry nukes. I find it pretty goddamn hilarious.
>>33232345
the interesting thing about the hortens if the bell shaped lift distribution, although its very doubtful that this was achieved in practice
>>33235963
the us was already working on RAM for aircraft during ww2, and the importance of shaping was understood pretty early on
those equations helped a lot when computer power improved enough in the late 60s
>>33236057
dont forget it could also carry 2 43600lb conventional bombs
and it had a hysterically overpowered defensive armament
>>33236080
fugg forgot pic
>>33236080
Should've used these in Afghanistan. 20000 lb bombs proved to be super effective against towelhead dens due to their seismic effect.
