recently purchased an ar-15, it's my first one.

anyways 16" barrel, carbine gas system, stock m4 milspec everything else other than an 1x RDS.

I plan on keeping this as a "3gun" rifle (as in sub 200yd range, quick trigger, etc) however I do not exactly plan on competing until I am happy with my ar.

so my question is, what spring/buffer combo should I be running for less recoil and faster recharge time (im not sure if this is the right word)?

i'm thinking of getting one of these SPRINCO springs + a new buffer. is this necessary on my rifle for better recoil?

note: i will be purchasing a muzzle brake as well

if you need soft&flat shooting gun to give you edge in those competition.

firstly you should have adjustable gas block.

secondly vltor a5 system+green springco is the answer ( green springco becuase gi rifle spring that vltor come with is trash).

a lot of champ at those competition have adjustable gas block and lightweight action mass as in having lightweight carrier+carbine buffer and tuning gas to bare minimum to run reliably.

low mass=less force required to get moving =get moving faster and less momentum(less recoil impulse when reaching each end of cycle)

but low mass low recoil also put you dangerous close to level of reliability issue if you went too far. momentum is needed to strip a round from fully loaded mag

If I could interject here. He's right in that 308 isn't for the poorfags. I'm seeing this with a buddy who built a 308 AR and isn't enjoying feeding it, even with reloading. Right now he's loading 150gr Hornady FMJs on 4895 for man sized target at 600 yards ammo. While he can keep the cost down somewhat, range day ammo does take time to make. He wants to buy some 175gr ammo, but that's roughly $1.25 per shot.

It shoots great, but he brings it out sparingly and rarely brings a lot of ammo with him.

I'm also hesitant about going for an AR-10 since i already don't like feeding my FAL and if I have to load ammo I'd rather do it for a bolt gun.

I'm between building a specific 243 AR or getting a MWS and 243 barrel. Barrel swaps are just 2 bolts and can be done in a minute. But I know what a 243 is capable of and it does seem wasted just for faster shots.
