What would a good SHTF rifle be? particularity one on the cheaper side of things
>inb4 meme nugget

Define SHTF
>>
>>33215304
>be burger afraid of economic collapse resulting in full on nation wide panic and destabilization
>live kinda near innawoods
Basically just a rifle that could be used for survival/hunting and in very worse case self defense.
>>
>>33215334
Literally anything that can reliably drop a man and local game.
>inb4 what about scavenging for ammo/spare parts
Real life isn't fallout, part of your preparations should be building a supply of spare parts and bulk ammo. Of course this is all pointless because shit will never hit the fan.
>>
>>33215385
Would you recommend something like an AR? considering it seems to be one of the more popular guns out their atm and many build their own so I imagine (though I might be wrong) getting spare parts would be a lot easier.
>>
>>33215405
Yes, any entry level ar will be fine, stockpilling ammo will be relatively cheap and rifles can be had for ~$500.
Look for PSAs and M&P sports.
>>
>>33215422
Thanks fampai!
>>
>>33215385
>and local game
It heavily depends on where you live, but I wouldn't rely on hunting game for food, at least not long term. Maybe as a way to slightly reinforce your food stockpile, but definetly not a replacement.

If shit hits the fun so hard the only way to reliably get food is to hunt, there will bo nothing to hunt very quickly. It's kinda like thinking you can survive such a situation by robbing grocery stores.
>>
>>33215446
Well just as a general idea I live in the area around the Appalachian Mountains
>>
>>33215446
I'm not recommending it, local game should only supplement existing stockpiles, not replace them. Rabbit starvation would be a shitty way to go.

automatics:
.223/AR-15, $500 neetbux
.308/PTR91, $1000 dollarinos

bolt actions:
.30-06/Tikka T3, $700 septims
.308/Savage Axis, $400 drachma

pumps:
12ga/Rem 870 or competitor, ~$350 gold coins

threw in 12ga because it is more versatile than a rifle. slugs for deer/boar, buckshot, or birdshot. i'd go with a bolt action or 12ga, honestly. infinitely more reliable, less maintenance, fewer parts to break.

You may also want to consider whether you want to bug in or out. A light rifle chambered in a light cartridge will be perferable if bugging out, asuming you even want to carry a rifle. Not much of a factor if bugging in.
>>
If you are seriously low on budget, consider a .22 rifle

1. Get a shit side-by-side
2. (optionally) chop it the fuck up if SHTF
3. Get some brass shells to reload pretty much by hand on your knee
4. Hunt anything from squirrels to boar
5. Can also light forests on fire, doubles as a signal flare with 12 gauge creativity
6. ?????
7. A HУУУУУ, ЧИКИ-БPИКИ И B ДAMКИ!

A bold action rifle in 5.56 could get you pretty far, and the prices are decent.

I second this. ARs are the most popular rifle in the USA. Any shtf firearm should use ammo that is used by police and military (5.56, .308, 9mm, 40, .45). These calibers are also extremely common in the civilian world too. 7.62x39 is very popular as well.

An AR has more than enough power to take a deer. Maybe not elk or moose without taking a few shots or following a long blood trail.

Shtf is a marketing tactic used to take blossoming mall ninjas out of the cold steel market. General preparedness is an obligation to our country. There is a difference. Know your neighbors and be involved in your community but have the means to defend if necessary. The last thing we need in a true shtf is a bunch of tards roleplaying innawoods.
>>
>>33215277
desu a Hi point carbine would be great. Maybe a suppressor thrown on it if you can manage that. It's cheap. 9mm ammo is cheap. It's reliable and it works pretty damn well.
>>
>>33215277
probably a 10/22 takedown and/or 12g shotgun

it depends on where you live though, you'd be better of making sure you have food water, etc supplies to last you a few months

yeah having weapons and stuff is important but you can't eat your 100,000 rounds of .22
>>
>>33215459
2 years you will still see 3/4 population loss from lack of food. Carrying capacity of your area is better than most but without industrial agriculture and rail distribution we would have issues supporting 40 million for the country
>>
>>33215385

Wtf, you're not being a trolling faggot for once, are actually giving good info.
>>
>>33215428
You can also find a cheap M&P 15-22 or other AR-15 knockoff chambered in .22 for $100-200 cheaper and the ammo can be found for 1/5 the cost of 223
>>
>>33216279
Yes he did also see >>33215872
>>
>>33216287
If riots and bugging in are a concern preloaded magazines in numbers ending in dozen may be recommended. The occasional pop and crack near rioters can often get them to fuck off with minimal police involvement. That said having a lot ready to be used with less fumble time for reloading mags may be in your best interests if fucking off to a safe zone is not feasible
>>
>>33215487

¿Y porqué tus opiniones son mierda, Anon?
>>
>>33216577
They were not that terrible jose
>>
>>33216601

Creo que si.

¿Quieres pelear sobre eso?

Solamente es un chiste.

But those recommendations weren't all that situationally pertinent, classy as they were.
>>
>>33216655
For a lot of folk they are more than good enough and check the .gov contracts page the wall should be up for bid soon
>>
>>33216722

I'm actually white, I just enjoy the language, so I took five years of it and then spent two using it in the wild.

And, yes, I'm in favor of the wall.
>>
>>33216870
Fun shit. I haven't fucked with Spanish since I was in Costa Rica and Nicaragua for a few months about 15 years ago so at best its spotty.

Nice bait anon. Your Spanish sucks. It's stilted, I can tell you're not a native speaker through text. Go fuck yourself.
>>
>>33217145
Bud kinda beat you to that but your way is a bit less wordy I guess.
>>
>>33215277
AR-15 like always
>>
>>33217145

Already said that about myself.

But here's the real question:

Why the fuck would I *want* to be a native speaker? That's like wanting to bs autistic so you can be slightly better at math. It's a win-lose.

You tell me. You're the one that spent 7 years practicing a shitty language and not putting it to good use.
>>
>>33219145

Lol

>putting it to good use

What should I be? A landscaper or a lawyer?

About the best use I have for it these days is letting the Hispanics in my platoon know that I can, indeed, understand what they are saying.
