Whether bolt action or semi, i'm interested in a 308 rifle that'll be good for precision and worth the price tag. Something more modern looking is preferred. Not too interested in ARs however.

Ruger precision rifle
Ruger Precision Rifle. MSRP $1600, usually available for less than that.

i hear a lot about those. probably gonna give one of them a try at the range next time i go.
anything below said amount that also gets the job done is also very welcome as well.

Just get a pair of pliers and a punch hammer. Way cheaper.

good idea.

They're very well suited for long range target shooting. Also available in 6.5mm Creedmoor, if you'd want to pursue that (though you'd want to be handloading for ammo cost).
I like what Mike did with the company after Bill passed, their product lineup is better than ever.

Personally I recommend buying a Howa Varminter Barreled Action and putting it in any of the following chassis based on your individual taste:
>XLR Element Chassis
>MDT LSS
>KRG 180 X-Ray
Then pony up some more dollars for a decent scope, reloading equipment, chronograph and a ballistics application
Pic related rifle built around the KRG X-Ray
Also don't get the mossberg in your pic OP, their atr or patriot action that gets used in bolt guns is rubbish.
I have my rpr in 6.5 cm. Picked it up for 1300. The stock is a little wonky and took some time getting used to.

2nd for howa, they even have a lazy mans' build for sale, savage isn't bad, and tikka is in that price range too.
Hmmm, the B-14 hmr is also around that price range , and with 1300S you could get a SWFA fixxed 12 power to top it off.
