do all glocks have that bevel on the front? just saved me 700 bucks

No, just the subcompacts (26s,27s...) , and apparently now the 19M and 17M

It's either a shoop or the real deal. There's no way to make the finger ridges that uniform on a gen 4 while also matching the stippling that perfectly. I'd buy the fuck out of this, and I already own a 19.

Maybe we'll get an announcement from Glock at NRA convention?
>>
>>33205867
OP here. That's the real deal, I'm just wondering if Glock will announce this as the Gen 5 Glocks to come, or simply Glock Gen 4 M series.
>>
OK, I don't own one of these what the fuck is the difference ?
>>
>>33205972
Glock filed for the trademark on "Generation 5" a few months ago. With all the new striker fired guns coming to market and the M&P '2.0' Glock will definitely unveil a gen 5.

Hope they make a G19 Gen 5 MOS, would buy.

Just looking at the image
>ambidextrous slide lock
>no grooves for fingers
That's all that I can gather so far
>>
>>33206110
Outside:
-No finger groves
-Ambidextrous slide stop (or release if that's how you use it)
-Flared magazine well
-One pin configuration (as opposed to two) above trigger

Inside:
-Longer recoil spring assembly
-Smoother trigger (supposedly)
-Changes in the safety plunger
-Reinforced forward notch for the recoil spring assembly
-Changes in the barrel's rifling
-Magazines have an extended front lip

With that said, do you think these 19M and 17Ms are part of the Gen 5 Glocks batch? or will the Gen 5s be different leaving the 19M and 17Ms to be just modified Gen 4s for LE agencies?

ok say they do make a gen 5, what does that mean to the previous glocks?
I don't think the popularity or price for the gen3 and gen4 will drop, no?
>>
>>33206359
considering that I've seen used and beat up Gen 2s being sold for 4-500, and now Gen 1s been considered a "collectors" item worth over 500 bucks, Gen 3s still widely used and sometimes preferred over Gen 4s.. I really don't see prices being dropped that much if any at all

>-Magazines have an extended front lip

Will gen 4 mags work in gen 5s? I have a shitton of gen4 mags. Not really planning on buying another glock any time soon anyway, but if I did I'd just stick with Gen 4 if the mags won't work.
>>
>>33206586
Mags will work, I've seen pictures, same exact design, the front lip extension refers to the mag base plate.
>>
>>33206564
I wish they would put a safety on one.

well, if we want to play this game...
26, 27, 29, 30, 30SF, 30S, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, and 39.
>>
>>33206717
forgot 38, and the two not available in the US 25 and 28.
>>
>>33206717
Genuinely surprised the 42/43 doesn't
>>
>>33206240
That actually looks pretty good. I wonder if 3rd party glock parts will become cheaper and more abundant like AR15 parts did.
>>
>>33206740
I think it's because those slides are so small they were trying to keep as much weight on them to not jeopardize the cycling reliability.
>>
>>33206688
I like thumb safeties its just a personal preference.

>>33206695
kys
>>
>>33206797
So.... don't get a Glock?
>>
>>33206846
It is why I haven't yet. I do like them, just surprised they haven't made one with a thumb safety yet.
>>
>>33206927
And they never will, if you read up on how Glocks became popular with LE you'll see that officers liked Glocks because they didn't have to worry about a safety, some officers would forget to take the safety off when they needed to use their gun so Glocks having no external/manual took care of that issue. The way it opperates (point and shoot) is similar to a DA/SA revolver, which is what most LE used before semis took over.
>>
>>33206260
As opposed to it being a gen 4 that was modified ya dingus . Read the op.
>>
>>33206797
a glock with a thumb safety is like Beretta making a striker fired 92FS meaning it's retarded and will never happen. The lack of the manual safety is Glock's biggest appeal.
>>
>>33206987
That makes sense.

>>33207200
I wasn't even going to bring this up til you sperged. Sounds more like a "training issue" than a retarded idea.

>>
>>33205623
right now its only the 26 and 34 size glocks with the bevel but it seems like something they are moving towards standardizing
>>
>>33206227
the M's the government agencies got are probably the first production batch of gen 5's. The ones given to the public will have some modifications, but no new features. Mostly just working out the kinks, like that stupid dry fire failure.
>>
>>33207631

and >>33206734
>>
>>33206186

oh fuck I bought a gen 4 how fucked am i? Do I need a gen 5?
>>
>>33207688
unless you are left handed, have giant or tiny hands, and shoot nothing but lead cast bullets, then you are and will be fine with a gen 4.
>>
>>33207688
Does the gen4 feel good in your hands?

If yes, then you will miss out on literally nothing. The only actual advantage of the gen5 is the lack of finger grooves for people that don't like them on the gen4. For me, the gen4 fits like a glove so I have no reason to buy a gen5.
>>
>>33206240
How did they get metal rails?
>>
I wish they would just go ahead and go modular like everyone else... Their half assed backstraps are an annoying and uncomfortable compromise that didn't need to be made.
>>
>>33205594
It is interesting to note the lack of serrated trigger shoe
>>
>>33207750
>>33207726
Yeah the finger grooves fit nicely on my hands.

But what about the 1337 flared magwell? WHat does longer spring assembly and changes to the safety plunger mean?
>>
>>33207812
Nothing. Glock basically got it right the first time, there hasn't been a significant change to them ever as far as I'm aware. It's all be cosmetic or tiny improvements that you'd never notice. They'll both go bang every time you pull the trigger just fine.

Just go shoot your gen 4 and enjoy it.
>>
>>33207200
>http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2016/08/16/photos-new-glock-17m-leaked/

Glock already made two versions of external safety, one thumbsafety, the other being a trigger crossblock safety. google it.
>>
>>33207908
I'm aware, doesn't stop it from being stupid and only used by autists who can't use the OG version.
>>
>>33207753
I'd hope they came in the package.

>Magazines have an extended front lip
I couldnt see Glock doing that simply for the fact that it would piss ALOT of people who own gen 4s and would want to use those mags

As for the outward appearance, I would still take a Gen 4 over this, supposedly, Gen 5. I actually like the finger grooves, and the flared mag well just looks like complete dogshit to be honest

Fucking what?
>>
>>33211277
You know, I must wonder if they changed that aesthetic or mechanism at all for the MHS trial that just happened, considering the Glocks did have one for that. It'd be funny if they just slapped a near 40 year old extra mechanism on it for that, just like 90% of the Glock's structure.
>>
>>33207750
Supposedly the the finish is more durable on the Ms which would have been nice to have.

You're in more danger of unintentionally shooting yourself or someone else with a Glock than are of being killed because you couldn't flick a safety off. If you can' trust yourself to operate a thumb safety there's no reason to think you'll be 100% safe with something like a Glock. inb4
>citation needed
Nah, this is just common fucking sense. Also
>The way it opperates (point and shoot) is similar to a DA/SA revolver
Sure...aside from that short 5 lb staple gun trigger being completely different than a DA revolver and far less forgiving of careless handling, they're exactly the same!
>>
>>33213923
Just like you're statistically more likely to shoot yourself rather than a home invader if you keep a gun in the home, so why not sell your guns to be safer? You shouldn't rely on statistics to convict yourself you may or may not do something retarded if you aren't a retard.
>>
>>33214045

>>
>>33213923
When pistol is in hand, finger is safety.
When pistol is in holster, holster is safety.

Just don't push the button if you don't want the bullet, it is really easy.
