The way 5.45 boxes fit in ammo cans will never fail to please me
>>
>>33204072
I love being able to fit 1k rounds of GT 7.62 in a .50 can. All my 5.45 is sitting in the box it came in still
>>
>>33204072
Somebody on here once said it was easy to get 1000 rounds of 7.62x39 Golden Tiger in a .50 cal ammo can. Took me 45 minutes MANY different configurations and I still have to push very hard on the lid to get it closed. Somebody lied.
>>
>>33204084
Something that I noticed with those ammo boxes. They're in 2 different boxes sizes. (Eastern European) I store my ammo in ammo boxes and yugo M67 crates.

>>33204084

>>
>>33204116
Any chance you could take a pic of each layer?
I'm not kidding that I tried different combinations of box orientations and directions for at least 45 minutes, maybe more. And when I finally go the lid closed the ammo boxes where sticking up above the body of the box so they got squished down a little by the lid.
I got all 1000 in there, but not very well.
>>
>>33204125
The way you see the labels facing is exactly the way I have it. Two boxes with cartridge facing up, one with the target part facing up. The "cartridge up" parts are 4 boxes deep, the "target" part is three. That'll leave you with an empty space that I stuck 6 more boxes in and you should be g2g
>>
>>33204144
That seems way too easy.
BRB, going to garage to play "resort a box of ammo because my autism won't let me let this go".

The way I looked at it is I could have a old, probably worn out used psl built off of a unknown condition Romanian parts kit for ~$1300, or a brand new vepr with chrome lined everything, heavy barrel, tapco trigger, and 3 mags for under 1k otd after shipping and ffl.

The decision was pretty simple desu.

The mags do suck but I'm hoping someone comes out with something ingenious. At the same time, it's a large caliber battle rifle, higher round count would be nice but it's not really necessary. Csspecs make a steel 10rd mag that is pretty good.
>>
>>33205823

Looks like a classic case of barrel rot. You don't just let anyone shoot your rifle right? You should always make sure potential shooters get tested before shooting your rifle.

Ballistol, and any other CLP, isn't going to be as good at any of those three functions as a single purpose one. I usually use CLP type stuff for field/expedient maintenance, and give it a good cleaning with dedicated cleaners once I get home.

Bought a PSAK-47, fit and finish was meh, had to file a few places to get it together. Today at the range, fired about 30 rounds and then FTF where it wouldn't go all the way into battery.
What do you think is wrong? Not enough lube? I put a light amount of CLP on the bolt, carrier, and rails. For some reason the left side rail has some scratch marks on it whereas the right side doesn't.
Also, my one Polish steel mag from aimsurplus only holds 29, not 30. Wtf?
Thanks for any help in advance.

Not last round, just in general, like I would pull the bolt all the way back and let it go using the weight of the spring and it just wasn't enough umph to get it to fully lock into battery. I then had to manually extract the round.
I'm using the Polish surplus steel mags from aimsurplus. They were never used, just sat in boxes. Thanks a lot man.

Unfired Serbian Zastava NPAP AK for sale near me for $590 on Armslist.

>>
>>33211080
surplus steel mags are fine, could be
>>33211070
I heard good things originally, but people's experiences seem to have soured. Foreign AK best AK

I'd try shooting it a little more, I have a waffen werks 74 that would hang up on the 28th or 29th round in the magazine, it stopped on its own after a few hundred rounds
>>
>>33211308
one thing though, how far into battery does it go before locking up?

it could be that the headspacing is too tight. For example, if I try to chamber a NO GO gauge in my AK-74 it locks up with about 1/2 - 1/3 inch to go, if it did this with a regular cartridge then it would be too tight
>>
>>33211307
Depends on what generation NPAP and when it was made.

Does it have the horrendous high comb or the newer Warsaw-pattern stock? Or does it have a thumbhole stock and railed dustcover.

If it's the first one: Probably but these are the NPAPs that Zastava shipped out when their QC was slipping so there's a chance it's not a good gun, particularly at that price
If it's the second: Yes that's a steal
If it's the third: Fuck no.
>>
>>33211368
I have no fucking idea. The Armslist listing literally just says:

"For sale is a BRAND NEW, unfired Serbian Zastava NPAP w/ 2 mags."

Again, it's gonna be my first rifle puchase, so I don't wanna get fuckin screwed.

Should I email this dude? Or find another rifle to buy?
>>
>>33211356
There's like 3-4mm of cartridge sticking out and I'm able to grab the rim of the primer with a fingernail to pull it out. It's not enough force with the spring and bolt carrier coming back like I said. Maybe more lube. Strange.
One thing to note is when I'm putting the carrier back into place after cleaning, it is very hard to get it to go back on the rails. The right side doesn't want to go down in there. Sucks ass.
>>
Here's the location of where it happened so things make sense https://www.google.com/maps/place/FL-710+%26+SE+128th+Ave,+Okeechobee,+FL+34974/@27.1701196,-80.6962516,1076m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x88dea3be067e40e1:0xb2b98dc31ea487e2!8m2!3d27.1701196!4d-80.6940629

Basically there was a dude who we'll call Outbackbro getting ready to turn onto 710, me behind him, HS chicks behind me, the 350Z who killed someone tonight, and then two cars behind them who had an old husband and wife who have a long history in the medical field and a literal nurse in the other car

So 350Z was some college kid in a daddy's money car, he's goin to fast int he backroads, etc, passes the medics at some 110 probably, and goes to get into the righthand lane. But that road has hella bumps in it because they removed speedbumps, we guess he lost control and slammed into the HS chicks, who hit us because of it and I hit Outbackbro

350Z ended up northmost on 710, Outbackbro got pushed into the guardrail, I was in the middle of 710, and HS chicks were about 30 feet south of me

Me and my buddy were fine since we had seatbelts, sit far back, etc, so we both hop right the fuck out as soon as the car stops, I grab my baton and he gets on the phone with 911. First thing I do is run to the HS chicks car and try the door, obviously fucked, you can see the pics.
>>
>>33211414
hmm, sounds like it's just poorly fitted

I'd talk to PSA and either have them work on it or get a refund
>>
So I took 3 hits on the window and punched a hole in it with the baton which let me drop it out of the frame. And about as soon as I do this the husband of the married medics was up behind me and we both pull back the airbag basically and the second girl is literally in the middle of the car, cause no seatbelt. Our guess is she died on impact cause she slammed her head so hard against the dash she almost bit through her lip and her 4 top front teeth were literally embedded in her lip, ripped out from the roots. He gets to work on the driver who has a weak pulse but a broken nose, broken vertebra, and tons of internal bleeding to the point you could see where her skin was inflating from it. After that I ran over to the 350Z, cut his airbag out of the way, and the nurse from the other car started talking him through since he was in shock, somehow still alive but pinned in his car

After that it was just checking on Outbackbro who was fine since he barely got tapped after the energy went through two cars, but I think you can see his pushed into the guardrail in the back of the pics. Once EMS arrived we sat around and bullshited between us, Outbackbro, and the 3 people who 350Z passed since they were all obligated to stop due to their medical training

I'm sure there's gaps in the story somewhere since I'm drinking it off now

I had the same thing happen to me today. Took my PSAK47 out for the first time, charged it and the bolt didn't close all the way. Couldn't pull it back out. Took it apart and nothing was wrong that I could see, I put a loose round in the chamber and it fit fine, bolt cycled fine without any ammo.

Finally said fuck it and just smacked it into battery and it cycled fine for a few rounds and then would occasionally FTF or short stroke like I'd shot a dud round or something. When cleaning it after the range I found metal shavings in the locking lugs.

So fuck PSA, idk why it's so hard for American companies to make something people in communist shit holes have been making for 70 years.

I'd email him and ask for photos.
Late-2014/Early-2015 Zastava QC slipped and guns produced in that time period can be spotty.
That's not to say it's a bad gun (though the stock is awful if you're shooting irons.)
>>33204313 is my NPAP made during that period. And I'm several thousand rounds deep in the rifle. The issues it had were a shorter recoil spring assembly than is spec for M70s (this is a $25 fix), reshaping and refinishing the wood (ymmv but I like woodworking), and the front sight block pins weren't drilled straight, which my gunsmith fixed for free.
It was my first AK and I love the pig, and she runs like a dream once the issues were worked out but I wish I'd known more about how to inspect and AK before I bought it.
A lot of these guns were totally g2g but enough had problems that people are still leery of NPAPs.

For reference, ALWAYS inspect an AK before you buy it, whether it's $300 or $3000.
Literally google "how to inspect an AK."

Other than pictures of the actual gun? A serial# would let you figure out when it was produced. A lot of this stuff is hard to spot unless you're inspecting the gun in person.
The short spring assembly makes the bolt carrier jiggle when it's in batter, with ~1/8" play, where an in-spec assembly will have the carrier sitting firm against the trunnion when closed.
This matters because if the spring isn't in-spec then the bolt and trunnions are gonna be beating the shit out of themselves every time the rifle cycles, meaning premature wear.
Used to be you could buy a surplus M70 recoil spring assembly off Apex Gun Parts for $25 shipped. Throw in a Wolff extra power spring if you're really worried about it.

The pins in mine would've been easy to spot because the pins in the front sight block literally don't go through at a straight angle.

Other than that? Standard AK inspection stuff.

Don't buy someone else's idea of "good" or "cool".
All those tapco "upgrades" are junk, and he probably didn't pay more than $550 for that gun.
God knows how much abuse it's gone through or how many rounds it has down the pipe.

Just watch this list over time, and look for prices to trend downward, and grab a new gun.

Yep, has the paddle release.
It's a 2016 production model.

Mainly the 3/4 position collapsible stock and black wide handguard.
Trying to avoid HKparts.net because reasons.

I like to think I'm about at the end of that road, but then I remember I have an 870 Police I bought like 4-5 years ago that I've yet to actually fire, and I still want a SCAR-17 for no other reason than "it's a SCAR-17."

Honestly, I wish I could kick the habit. Bought a PTR just before the election too because I've wanted a G3 clone since I was in high school, still haven't fired it. Too busy having fun with my Scorpion Evo.

If the fucking Democrats would just drop the whole gun ban thing, maybe I could live in peace. Instead I always feel like I'm living on borrowed time and I need to own literally every long rifle with a box mag I'll ever want before 2020.

Paid $820~ for the rifle.
Paid $900~ for the ammo
Paid somewhere around $150 for all the mags, I bought them for $3/each.

I haven't even bought anything else for the rifle. I really regret not getting a railed model or the pistol model.
Other than that the rifle is fucking awesome. Recoil is nowhere near as bad as some people on /k/ make it out to be.

Robert RTG has them. You'll need the wide handguard he's selling too for it to collapse properly.

http://www.robertrtg.com/store/pc/HK-BIPOD-2p1.htm

On a side note, of all the guns I bought pre-election, the Scorpion Evo is by far my favorite. I got it initially because I wanted a 9mm carbine and it had this XM8-esque profile I loved, but it turned out to be one of the most fun and economical guns I've ever bought. Gonna two-stamp it now.

That said, if you think an AR shits where it eats, holy fuck does the Scorpion have it beat. Straight blowback is gonna be wonderful when I eventually get a can on it, but in the meantime it's just carbon fouling, carbon fouling everywhere.
>>

What kind of muzzle velocity does that thing put out?
>>
>>33203588
Go back in time to 1980s Sovyet Union and ask.
>>
>>33214165
Haven't chrono'd it, so I couldn't say. Whenever I get my Form 1 back it's getting roughly 8" worth of barrel chopped off, so I haven't thought to do anything like that yet. I figure once I get my can in and start running playing with supersonic/subsonic loads, I'll do it then.
>>
>>33214195
If you are SBR'ing it, how come you didn't just get the pistol model? Surely the barrel length would be similar to what you're planning on cutting off, right?
>>
>>33214247
At the time, the 922r kits with the factory stock were pretty much non-existent. I figured I'd rather have a carbine that'd look cool and I could use a stock on in the meantime, then get the barrel cut down for less than the cost of a 922r kit when my Form 1 came back

Then like a month after I bought it, CZ flooded the market with 922r kits before discontinuing the kits entirely and selling the stocks standalone for about what I had budgeted for a cut and recrown.

Not a huge issue, just one of those unforeseen events I didn't expect to happen.
>>
>>33214093
Man I always want to switch to either a FAL or PTR, but x39 is so much cheaper to feed. I've had a crush of G3 rifles since Bad Company 2.

My big wasr is probably about the same length and weight as both though.
>>
>>33214281
>I've had a crush of G3 rifles since Bad Company 2.
I legitimately believe that there isn't a single PTR/HK91 owner under 30 who can't point to a specific game that first sealed their fate as an eventual G3 clone buyer.

Mine was Rainbow Six 3, for what it's worth. Gonna be weird when kids start popping up with these at the range in a few years talking about how they first saw it in Battlefield 3.
>>
>>33214322
I'm still annoyed that they didn't include the G3A3 in BF4.

It's practically tradition to have it a BF game.

I do enjoy the big wasr in BF4 though even if it's caliber is listed as 7.62x54R.
>>
>>33214354
And with kids playing BF1 now. We're going to see an even bigger resurgence of milsurp buyers.

I also recently got a PTR-91FR just a few weeks ago. I've been wanting a G3 for many years and had mags and accessories a year before actually buying the rifle.
Idk exactly what made me love the G3 rifles so much. I'm sure vidya games had some part of it, as well as the HK slap. But I can't remember where i first learned of it. Or where I learnt of most guns for that matter.
>>
>>33214354
>>33214412
Also, there was a G3 of some kind in BFH
That game was dumb, but they finally made battle rifle it's only class instead of lumping them in with the rifles and carbines. And that game actually had an AKM, which was of course my favorite rifle in that game.
>>
>>33214430
Too bad hardline sucked as a battlefield.

The AKM was fun and the G3 was actually listed as PTR in game.

weren't the Wasr 10s shit and didn't become good until the 10/63?

It was my understanding that the wasr 10s were all fucked up because century couldnt cut a magwell to save their fucking life back then as well as other problems.

Maybe I got it backwards.
>>
>>33214482
Just get the new fixed stock Arsenal.
>>
>>33214524
The "63" designates that it was made with overrun PM md 63 parts. Originally it meant it would have a bayo lug and threaded barrel. Lots of the time it means the gun predates Cugir getting its shit together, but not always. Cugir doesn't even sell them anymore afaik. All new-production WASRs are "GP WASR-10"
>>
>>33205652
glad i bought a case before the shit happened
>>
>>33214524
Yes and no.
At the time the 10s were trash, because as you inferred, they couldn't cut magwells.
But that applied to the 10/63s as well.

They've dropped the /63 as those were built with old Pm md 63 parts at Cugir.

All new WASRs are just 10 but a lot of shops still advertise them as 10/63s.
>And there are still variants without bayo lugs and tack welded muzzle nuts.

The 10 with the Bayo lug and slant brake is stock #RI1805-N
The 10 without a bayo lug and welded nut is stock #RI1826-N
