Do millennials buy guns?
>>
Millennial is people born between about 1980 and 2000, so pretty much everyone on /k/ is one.

That is, no.
>>
>>33199696
Millennials don't know how to buy guns so they just go with what they think is cool which is often something they saw in a movie or video game.
>>

>>
>>33199696
there was an entire thread on this board about how to act while attempting to purchase a gun.

guy would stand in a gun store feel like everyone was watching him so he would leave without talking to anyone.

millennials would have to put their smartphone down first, and that's not happening.
>>
>>33199696

I do. Then again, I didn't know until I was like 13 that anybody would ever try to ban guns.
>>
>>33199696
Yup
>>
>>33199696
Yeah they do but it probably depends upon the culture they are living in.

I was born in 81 so technically I'm a millennial but don't really want to be one. In the rural area I live in the young folks seem more interested in guns than their parents are. My nieces and nephews own handguns but their parents don't.
>>
>>33199696
I'm a millennial. We're all faggots, but yeah I buy guns.
>>
I'm 25 and I do, but I'm literally the only person under 40 that I know who owns guns.

Why does is a group mostly consisting of teenagers and people just entering the workforce get so much hatred?
>>
>>33199696

Well you're here OP, so no I guess they don't.
>>
22yrs old, 7 guns. Soon to be 8
>>
23, own 2 so far.

One was a hand me down though so I didn't buy it.
>>
>>33199696
Yes, but I only own 3.

4, if you count one that was gifted to me.
>>
>>33200213
Mostly of teenagers? The youngest millennials are are turning 19.
>>
>>33200182
even millenials hate millenials, it's been a derogatory label for ages thanks to the msm, and literally nobody uses the term in a positive light except for social media startups

the whole conception of generations is retarded post 90s, since even a couple years difference in age now can create a massive disparity in shared values thanks to the internet speeding up the general pace of pop culture dissemination
>>
Currently 20, already have 7.
>>
>>33199756

I would love to put that gun in an ultrasonic bath and just watch all of that grime bubble and fizzle away. I want to gingerly lift it out of the warm bath and wipe it dry with a microfiber towel, then softly rub on moly grease and oil on its most sensitive spots until it has perfect release of its sear and an action so silky smooth that I'll never want to stop cycling it until I climax in an orgasm of lead and burned powder and make it dirty all over again.

That's a silly argument, I mean if it's a quality car do you not get oil changes?

Personally I enjoy cleaning/inspecting as much as shooting/training.
Though quality or not even a quick clp spray and a brush goes a long way.

I bought a gun a week within turning 18, about to be 20.
I've gotten several friends into guns too.
So the answer is yes.
>>
>>33200679
>That's a silly argument, I mean if it's a quality car do you not get oil changes?

Do you change you oil everytime you go to the grocery store?

Because that is a more apt analogy.

Hey I'm not stopping you from wasting time, resources energy cleaning your gun after every range session.

But I'd also appreciate it if you would drop the attitude like how I handle my guns and cleaning is incorrect when in reality the "clean every time you shoot" crowd is the camp off the mark.

I'm aware that you enjoy cleaning your guns, doesn't mean it's a proper or even smart manual of training/arms.

Sorry if I'm pisssy this place is simply filled with combative morons these days and it's draining.

We do. My friends are 21-30 and almost all them own guns.
>>
>>33200774
Hey I get you.

The oil change comment was more toward the 37k rounds fired so take it however you want.

The cleaning after use is what I personally choose to do. Takes me a couple minutes to clp, wipe, lube, assemble. But you do what works for you.

The original comment was a throwaway joke anyway, though I'm curious, what handgun is it that you've put 37k through?

I guess I'm equally at fault for not being more clear in my posts.

I usually end up doing a full cleaning every 1-3k rounds which is about a once a month cleaning. This is done simply because the gunk will start to affect the weight of the take up/trigger pull/reset.
37,000 in 1.5-2 years were out of two guns, my FNS-9L and FNS-9 - the 9L is probably 20,000 of those.

Other than that I do the barrel for debris and to prevent unnecessary rifling degradation and the rails because not reason to torture the guns.

No worries it's the internet haha.

I should apologize on my side too. I don't often get to shoot so when I do it's a full day event of 1000+ rounds and reason I clean after shooting.

Pretty impressive how they are holding up to those round counts.
I always love seeing how firearms hold out after tens of thousands of rounds, might have to check into getting one in the future.

I had my first small parts failure the other week, pictured here: >>33200479

The striker return spring on the 9L blew apart - I had been shooting it broke for a week before I got fed up with the super weak reset and took it down and realized it was broke.

I sent the 4" back along side it because the reset was noticeably weaker than my almost NIB 40L - this will be my first customer service experience with FNH but so far they seem on point - I explained that I had one broke gun and one gun I thought might break soon and they were very accommodating.

I sent them pictures of the abused guts with the guns, I hope they hang them up.

I've been shooting my 40L because can't stop won't stop.

Heard good things about their customer service so hopefully they'll clear it up.

>>
>>33201764
>Still impressive either way to me, plus it was still firing.

It was but barely, I usually shoot about 100 rounds a day and I'd say 2/100 of those rounds that week I had to manually reset the trigger - I thought it was a fouling issue with sand (I drop my mags in desert sand every day and they feed that sand up the magwell into the guts so I had a preconceived notion of the failure point).

I did a full clean and extra wet lube and it shot even worse, so only then did I address the real issue.

>Arex

The generation meme is (was) founded on the basis of a period of 22 years when each new crop of young'ns got smart enough to fuck up like everyone else in legal matters. However , since the 90s it's more about what generation of gaming platform the runts are raised on. So it's basically just more media hype since the beginning of one generation of people now has nothing in common with the later parts of the group.

Speaking as a millenial who knows lots of other millenials, I think it follows tradition in the US. Im from a red state and know lots of millenials from the same red state and other red states who own guys, lots of us have several, most of us shoot fairly regularly it's not some "omg look at my AK im so badass" or grandad's hunting rifle in storage.

Conversly most of my extended family and other friends are from and live in major blue states and are pretty much brainwashed and hate guns.

But the popular view of the millenial seems to be the trans pansexual multicolored hair, starbucks holding overweight, "trump is literally hitler" cuck so most probably dont own guns.

It is really one of the only hobbies that is still affordable to young men. My uncle, when he was my age in the early 70s, he was a car guy. Bought and sold muscle cars. Do you know how expensive it would be to buy and sell cars willy nilly like that these days? They will arrest you if all of your paperwork isn't in order a couple of times. Guns are one of the few hobbies we have left, they aren't cheap, but we can afford them if we sacrifice some normie things. This is how I rationalize my collection tofamily. I would be much more concerned about a young man with no real hobbies at all.

25 years old. Grew up in a nogunz family but grew up playing video games and loved hearing my grandfather's war stories.

Started buying guns in August and this is what I got so far. Once my taxes come back I'm going to get a .22 and maybe a mosin.

At one point I'll have
-a shotgun
-308 bolt gun of some sort
-battle rifle
-1911 of some kind (probably springfield)

After that I plan on settling down and not buying too many more guns.....who am I kidding I'm probably going to have 30 goddamn guns, but this shit is making me broke.

Born 1996. Grew up in Europe, Middle Germany...

Got introduced to weaponry due to an early interest in military machinery. Interest in guns reinforced via my father taking me to an bb-shooting stand at a carneval, then buying myself an old single shot airrifle/bb-gun from the neighbour and later trying a G3 while having a snoopin week in the military (that was then in Denmark though).

Now student in Denmark, so no money to get a license + gunsafe + gun + ammunition. Further no car, so it would be pretty ineresting getting a gun to a official range. No hunting grounds nearby ether.

This.
I've got a little brother seven years behind me, and it looks to me like the world he's growing up in IRL and particularly on the internet is very different from mine. My formative internet years start around '03 or '04, but since about 2012 the internet has shifted to be much more closely tied to IRL with the dominance of Facebook. Non-gamer normies don't really make internet friends anymore, or join communities. The internet social circles tend to be made of once-met acquaintances. The cynic in me wants to say it's all social leveraging without any significant friendship, but honestly I doubt that's really the case. It's just different.

2000 - 2012 internet was really a different animal, and nowadays internet makes up a significant portion of not significant majority of total human interaction. The speed social hegemony changes is trending towards the speed it changes on the internet, and we all know how that goes.

Subdividing by vidiya generations would probably actually provide a semi-consistent society per generation. That'd be interesting

There seems to be a curve to cell phone obsession. I generally won't use my phone at dinner or in conversation, but my parents will. I wasn't raised that way or told to act that way, but that's how it ended up sorting out.

Father's generally working in some capacity, mom managing family or also working. I read and write on my phone though, as well as skim 4chan, news, random research, etc, so my phone takes up a lot of my idle time but very little of my social time. Younger and older sects seem to operate inverse to that. It might be I just have weird habits, but my friends are generally similar. I'd estimate I perceive the trend to not use them in social situations as is ~ 1985 - 2000

>Authors William Strauss and Neil Howe are widely credited with naming the Millennials.[1] They coined the term in 1987, around the time children born in 1982 were entering preschool, and the media were first identifying their prospective link to the new millennium as the high school graduating class of 2000.[2] They wrote about the cohort in their books Generations: The History of America's Future, 1584 to 2069 (1991)[3] and Millennials Rising: The Next Great Generation (2000).[2]

If you don't want to be a millennial, the only way to stop being one is to go back in time to 87 and kill Strauss and Howe before they coined the infamous term

Unless you live somewhere really fucking expensive the main thing is to keep expenses low. If you go out to eat or drink more than once every two or three months and if your groceries for one week exceed 50 bucks you're doing it wrong.

If I counted all the money most of my friends have been spending on weed and alcohol they could have had a very respectable collection if they were into that.

I'm 21, have 8 long guns, couple handguns nothing crazy, and i've been collecting black powder guns since i was about 14 years old. have about 10 of those.

I make decent money with little expenses. Even though I live in an expensive area, my rent, internet, and phonebill can all be paid with one pay check. That leaves a second paycheck every month for anything else that I want. I mostly try to save money, and I'm trying to recover from state revenue being a dick to me, but I can afford to buy a gun here and there, upgrade my PC, etc.

That said, I'm 30 now and I feel like I've gotten a much later start on these sort of things than most folks do. I still have never owned a vehicle.

This. I don't know any millenials alive today that remember when the Berlin wall came down. I distinctly remember that shit being all over the news when it took place. From my understanding millenials are people born post 1990 and later.

>>33209285
So they're only a ten year span generation? Lol cry all you want but the antifa college fags born in 1996 who barley remember 9/11 are millennials too.

Right where it should be. "Bullet button" is just a catch-all term for the piece that restricts use of the magazine release so that only a tool (any tool, as long as it isn't your finger) can access it. They hold no legal weight anymore, though. If my AK were in that setup now, it would be illegal.

Yup. I'm 21 and still live with my parents so the money I make at my job goes into savings, gas, and the rest is fun money. Once I get into my University my spending will slow dramatically so I'm having fun while I can.

Without getting hostile, I agree with you.

Granted, my reason for owning guns has always been how it applies to self defense and rarely been a historical or collector standpoint.

I've never seen a value in owning guns you'll never shoot or have the opportunity to master that individual piece's quirks.

Technically if they don't remember the Berlin Wall coming down, Millennials should be born in ~1985 and later, not 1990 and later.

The wall came down in '89 and people don't remember things before the age of 5 or 6ish.

Yeah sorry my posts are fairly aggressive, mostly because trying to inform these fuckers is like herding cats.

>I've never seen a value in owning guns you'll never shoot or have the opportunity to master that individual piece's quirks.

I started my foray into guns buy piles of garbage, ever seen the arsenal threads? my collection looked about like half of the photos posted there.

Then I realized they were just things, things I couldn't even utilize because I am a single individual.

Then I started to see how I was a cat lady tier spinster hoarding objects I wasn't even an expert in using/understanding

Basically that kind of gun owner is immature, and is the type of person the liberals think we all are, childish materialist gun fettishers

I'm much happier now being a shooter, down to 3 carbines and a dozen pistols, looking to reduce further.
>>
>>33206555

How much is your trust fund worth senpai?

Mine is only worth $3 Million :/
>>
>>33209818

Two reasons.

1: The reason I bought the gun was to have something so small that I wouldn't have an excuse not to carry a gun. That being said, I don't like polymer so the p238 was the natural choice. Getting the 938 instead, even though it's only ever so slightly bigger, would be against the entire point of the gun.

2: I heard that the 938 is a bit snappy. Not painful, just snappy. The 238 will probably be more fun to shoot than a 938 would have been.

Dude I'm 20 and I have a part time job working for my school. The secret is having low or no external cost like housing and food. Most I've spent on a rifle was my Argentine 1909 in near perfect condition, in reality though I have +$1500 in my AR15. I also drive a nice car and pay a few bills here and there.
>>
>>33209780
Bullshit. I was born in 85, and I remember when the wall came down.
>>
>>33209780
When I was referring to millenials not being able to remember the wall coming down, I was using it as an example because they weren't ALIVE at that point to remember it.

Have they ever shot a gun? Have they ever taken a class or anything? I live in California and my parents were kind of on the fence about it so they took some warming up to it, now they don't care.

Try to get them involved. My 18th birthday present from my mom was for her and I to go to a basic handgun class and she gifted me a rifle that same day (at least she paid for it that day, we have a 10 day wait). Once I got a couple guns and my parents saw me being responsible with them they accepted it more and more.

Statistically, millennials are the fastest growing group of gun owners according to the PEW research center.

http://www.people-press.org/2016/08/26/gun-rights-vs-gun-control/#generations
>>
>>33210679
""Millennials"" are the fastest growing group of anything because they're coming to adult ages where they can buy things and do things on their own, compared to literal children who do not buy things and the middle-aged who do not buy many things because they already own a lot of things that they bought when they were in their 20s or early 30s.
>>
>>33210679
Also, Gen X is the most anti gun.

>>33199696

Yeah, the research shows that millennials are more pro gun then any other age group. 54% of millennials surveyed say they are pro gun rights. Compare that to 52% of Gen X who say they are for gun control.

Look at the trends and learn how to read a graph. The trends point to upward movement in the millennial views on guns. From what I have seen, millennials on the right and left have pro gun views. In the Mid West at least.

And it is more then 6 points. the difference is 9% between those generations. And growing. Gen X is the only group that is growing more anti gun.

Lemmi guess, you are butt hurt because your generation, Gen X, is the force behind the anti gun laws?

No problemo friendo. We got plenty space to find somewheres to dig and toss in pic related. Work especially good when you have some semblance of a backyard/large lot. Had half a dozen at one point, now just three. One on my property and two, well, not. There's always an answer even if you are confined to an apartment building. Google could be a friend here, too.

so long as it's made in switzerland youre good. the ones made in america have issues and I wouldn't trust their customer support what with them going out of business.

love my sphinx but it does have some problems. gun is tight (which is good) but it QUICKLY lost the coating on it's barrel and I'm worried about rust. sights are shit and you can't change them. it's not as ergonomic as a cz75. when i hold a cz I feel like I have good, even pressure all around the grip. when I hold my sphinx I feel like I'm squeezing between the back and front of the grip (or the heel and 1st knuckles of my hand). it feels really odd and is surprisingly tiring.

but...it is 100% reliable and well-made, if a little over-priced. and that's all I want from a carry piece, something I can trust 100%.

Same here, was born in 81 and the metro area I live in the young folks also seem more interested in guns than their parents. Just talked to my nephew today about my AR and how he should build one. His parents don't do guns either, but he seems pretty stoked on them.

I had the same thing when I bought mine, but I didn't get 100 rounds deep. It turned out I had a faulty bolt carrier. I brought it back to my LGS and they shipped it off and 2 weeks later I had a flawlessly operating AR556.
