From the Gunny?

Fuck no.
>>
What if the real test was to see whether or not you've got the courage to disobey the order?
>>
>>33199655
Supposedly, I have.
>>
depends on the order and the one giving it

could you be any less vague?
>>
I do all the time at work if they are wrong
>>
Only if it served my personal interests, I could defend it before a tribunal, and I didn't like the guy giving it.
Or if it was a woman lmao

If goes against my oath and code to protect the people of my country then yes.
>>
>>33199672

that's cute

>Lawrence La Croix, a squad leader in Charlie Company in My Lai, stated in 2010: “A lot of people talk about My Lai, and they say, ‘Well, you know, yeah, but you can’t follow an illegal order.’ Trust me. There is no such thing. Not in the military. If I go into a combat situation and I tell them, ‘No, I’m not going. I’m not going to do that. I’m not going to follow that order,’ well, they’d put me up against the wall and shoot me."

Absolutely. That's why I didn't volunteer for an organization that requires unquestioning belief in command.

Only correct answer in this thread.
>>
>>33199655
Depends on the severity of the fucktardeness pertaining to said order
Trying to reason with the CO would come first
But I would say under certain circumstances, absolutely. I'm human.

no one in the US military has been executed in the field like since probably Vietnam.

Even this asshat was captured alive, put on trial, and executed by lethal injection after being found guilty by a jury.

If ordered to fire on civilians, instantly frag the person giving the order.
>>
>>33199655
Yes. Especially if it disobeyed a previous direct order from a higher ranking official; such as an oath to defend the constitution
>>
>>33200502

actually they all followed the order

the helicopter pilot who rescued some civilians was in a different unit entirely. he was in turn reprimanded for "interfering"

As long as it didn't involve a form of treason or attacking American civilians, more than likely.

Yes, I have several times.

Sometimes orders are discretionary, the one I did more than twice, was disregard an order to shoot at an approaching vehicle as a gunner.

I got chewed out each time, but I made the right call. If I had made the wrong one, the consequences would have been worse than a smoking.

At least in here one may demand the order to be provided in written form, which allows doing following after being given illegal order:

1. Demand the order in written form -> if provided you have evidence for court martial. Also, this should make the asshat giving the illegal order to think what he/she is doing.

2. If the order is provided in written form take it, read it to make sure that is gives accurate picture of what was actually ordered. Then make clear that you consider the order to be illegal and therefore refuse to obey it. Better be (locked & loaded, safety off) ready at that point, since it is likely that the person giving illegal order is out of their fucking mind.

3. Make it absolutely clear that not only are going to refuse following the order, but make clear if if he keeps demanding for anyone to follow that order that order you will arrest him/her and/or if the illegal action mentioned in it will actually happen, you will provide the document to court martial as evidence.

I do all the time.
Spec Ops units exist outside the chain of command, and as such we are able to ignore orders if they conflict with our mission.
Protip kiddos: Most KIA and MIA are from Spec Ops fragging people for telling them what to do
The lesson is don't tell us what to do

Actually thinks that I would not have at least my 2nd in command with me (and covering my back) when getting orders... That is just routine to make sure that he knows exactly what the orders are in case something happens to me.

The basic idea is to make the person giving illegal order to actually think if giving such order is a good idea. Sure - let's assume his sergeant hardass shoots me on the spot - immediately followed by my 2nd in command capping both the Stg hardass and the shithead who ordered him to do murder me. Not that I would not be in lock & loaded + safety off mode at that moment either.
