Hey there newfriend! Can you post a pic of the other side? The one with numbers and letters on it? Nobody here's from the ATF so don't worry about it, we just like the aesthetics of numbers in specific patterns.

You're going to want to find a solution for brass hitting the scope.
Not so much for the scope health, as it likes to bounce back into to action and jam it up.

It's from Czech shop with accessories for Vz.58

With the folding stock am I supposed to rest my cheek on it? It it painful for a couple days after shooting. Let me know where I fucked up, thanks.

Also, does anyone else have a problem with wobbly magazines? They catch so low on the magazine release that the follower to activate the bolt hold open never works right. I epoxied the magazine release so the magazine sits higher in the well, so far no problems despite how shoddy the mod is. Am I alone on this one?

I made it cozy with some paracord but it's still pretty vicious. I don't have any comparison to know if the recoil on my particular VZ is normal and that my technique sucks or I am just a babby.

I mean, maybe my muzzle brake helps a lot but I don't think the rifle recoils much at all. I don't notice it on my face or my shoulder. But then again x39 is the smallest rifle cartridge I shoot so it might have something to do with that.
>>
>>33196056
If you use the Slovakian style brake than you're pretty much experiencing only about half of the recoil, without a muzzle brake the VZ does have a pretty decent umf to it.

>>33196895
Yeah, I speak from experience. I used a toilet cut up paper roll to protect my scope until my actual deflector arrived.
It loves to kick casings straight back down into the action. It'll happen fairly often. And you'll get little dings on the scope finish. Some ammo kicks out harder than others, so it'll make the problem worse. I'm guessing you could get away without one using golden tiger ammo. It ejects super soft.
>>33196904
Yup, always look for the 5rd pinned 30rd mags if you want canadians.
All the shorty mags in this thread so far are my 10rd mags. It knocks off 8/10 lb, and I use 10rders in all my guns pretty much. I'm not a mag dumper, so I'd much rather keep light.
>>
>>33196990
lighter is better, my gun almost weights as much as a full length mosin with the scope on, sure looks cool but really takes a toll on the shoulders after a while
>>
>>33196527
Looks great

Does the red dot sit a bit too high or is it just fine?

As you can tell, my scope sits way too high and there is no where to rest my cheek on with the folding stock, gotta upgrade that in the future

Mine, one of the new vz2008s, want to put a ar style collapsible stock on it to compliment the tacticool rails it came with (and because wire folding stock sucks serious balls)

However I can't even get the stock screw out of the reciever, it won't budge at all. Gonna just send it off to a gunsmith and let them deal with it.

I can't really shoot it till it's replaced because the folding stock is just so uncomfortable.

Will also put a smaller foregrip, red dot and a light on it later.

Can some canacuck meet me at the border and let me shoot a VZ carbine? Maybe accidentally drop it where I may find it, and I'll drop something you like so you can find it?

It's totes legal to keep a gun you found on the ground right?
>>
>>33198265
>the folding stock is just so uncomfortable.
>>33198276

You need a better brake. The slant brake was designed for the AK which jumps up and to the right. The VZ doesn't do this, so you're directing too much gas at the end of the barrel downward which translates to cheek slap on the other end.

I don't know why the monkeys at century arms decided to put a slant brake on it but it wasn't designed for that gun.
>>
>>33194564
You're a Leaf, have you considered having an AR magwell installed on your rifle? Then you could use 10rd pistol magazines.

>>33194778
Why do dumb unfunny assholes make posts like these? If he had an illegal gun then why would he post it on a Cambodian Genocide Tribunal?

>>33195683

>>
>>33202785
I bet you could meet up at the water border between BC and WA and have a mutual boating accident.
>>
>>33195759
Honestly, if you've ever seen a Vz58 with MagPul Zhukov handguards modified to fit on it, it looks aesthetic as fuck.

You just gotta make sure the color of the furniture all matches, like all OD green or all gray/black, you can't be mixing and matching it with wood or that wood chip composite, clashes horribly.

>>33195797
They look fucking fine with real wood on them, don't they?
>>
>>33195852
It beats an underfolder on an AK by miles, but I see lot of people wrap the folder on their VZ with Paracord.
>>
>>33202812
What's more is that the slant brake typically affects your groupings negatively, swap it out for another brake or a birdcage flash hider.
>>
>>33202812
The stock is so short, when I raise the rifle to my natural cheekweld, my nose hits the sling plate.

Plus all the probelms >>33195852 guy has, it's just an uncomfortable cheekweld and I don't think it's entirely the brakes fault
But I will look into putting a actual vz muzzle nut on the end
>>
Man, these rifles really need some work to get there full potential list of things I'm looking to fix.

>remove this impossible to take off rear stock screw to replace folding stock
>remove and replace slant brake, apparently it's threaded different than most threads so putting a new brake or anything is a pain in the ass
>I do not know wtf they have done to the front sight drum, I can't adjust the front sight horizontally at all
>just general clean up this rough af action
>this will probably get better with use, but trying to load mine with strippers clips sucks as the rounds won't slide off the clip
>>
>>33203798
>but trying to load mine with strippers clips sucks as the rounds won't slide off the clip

welcome to stripper clips. i don't know why people on /k/ love them.
>>
>>33203910
The same ones feed fine in my sks.
My mosin clips are absolutely trash and never work at all.

I hear milsurp clips are always generally better than aftermarket.
>>
>>33203946
>I hear milsurp clips are always generally better than aftermarket.

definitely. its either do to being broken in or simply better quality manufacturing. because the shitty china star clips you find on amazon are worthless.
>>
>>33203910
I guess because they're just different. Also 5 to 10 rounds on a small strip is cheaper, lighter and flatter than a detachable magazine of the same capacity. So I guess basically poorfags.
Or Califags who opted to lock their 10rd mag in place and load their VZ58 like an SKS because they wanted a grip and stock without birth defects.

Some guns have neat clips though, like the Garand or various Mannlicher rifles, en-blocs are actually quite fast and easy to load with, drop it in and close the bolt.

Makes me wish .276 Pedersen had become a thing. Or at least that there would be some skilled gunsmith somewhere who would be able to retrofit/alter the feed and action of a Mini-14 for use with special snowflake 10rd en-blocs, because I like autistic and unneccessary guns.

the AR mag adapter is cool but it is slightly flimsy. there is a small bit of plastic that holds it in place, and if you yank on it hard enough it can detach. it certainly wont happen in a controlled environment but if you were to accidentally bang the magazine into something while you are moving there is a chance it may pop off. though all you have to do to reattach it is click it back in as if it were an AK mag, since the adapter itself simply acts like a hollow AK mag that can fit a GI mag inside it.

>>33204243

heres a better picture. if you apply force in a clockwise direction, the adapter starts to pull away. so a practical situation where this would happen is sort of limited but its definitely something to consider if you intend to use this gun in an actual combat situation.

Seems like the brass set screws would soften up over time especially with the heat of shooting. Is it as reliable as mounting a scope with a side rail?

Are SBR's actually legal in Kanuk land??
>>
>>33208098
There's are no short barrel restrictions in Canada for rifles. Pistols do have minimum barrel lengths, however.

My bayonet lug is shaved.
Does anybody have experience in replacing front sight posts?

no one cares about an ugly trap attention whore. you know why these kids never post their face? It's because none of them are even slightly passable as female even though they cross dress constantly.

hahah

So I was somehow super into Russian side mount optics a while back and when i found out that a 3-9x adjustable scope costs as much as a red dot and even less than a Cobra, I just bough the big ass scope.

Cuck barrel
>>
I want to get one, but I don't know the best place. Chech point is really expensive, but I don't think any stores near me carry them consistently.

Waht do?
>>
>>33209072

check armslist. i was looking for the vz compact but there were only like two people in the whole country selling them and neither were in my state so i had to bite the bullet and buy from csa. VZ 58s simply aren't very popular in the US, they're only really popular in canada because they're the closest thing they can get to AKs
>>
>>33209138
Nothing nearby. Guess I'm forking over 1,250$ next time the wood stock ones are in on chech point.

>>
>>33209740
yeah you punch out the two pins and slide on the new one
>>
>>33209753
It's still going to be a fight trying to get it off after, no?
I see it scuffing up the barrel
>>
>>33209823
it won't, use heat from a candle or torch, punch the pins out. Put the crown on a block of wood on the floor and bang the front sight assy off. Use a rubber mallet or a piece of wood for packing and a normal hammer. Use heat liberally, protect the barrel from torque.

Samopal vzor 58
>it is lighter + lighter magazines
>better and more precisely manufactured
>due to the machined frame is more accurate
>slide catch
>stripper clips
>equally durable and reliable as AK47

- cost of production
- not possible to insert burrito between the striker and the return springs

funny you should say that because i was going to get one of the high-rise mounts but they were out of stock on the website. im glad i bought the low mount or else i wouldn't even be able to see out the glass let alone see the reticle.
>>
>>33214802
I agree, but the Vz Mags are also a bit bulkier than the AK mags due to the follower for the bolt catch

I'm not saying the Vz isn't good, it is, I like it, but some people talk it up a bit much. I'll say it's about on par with the AKM, give or take some minor things.

Pluspoints for short-stroke piston, minuspoints for no 5.45mm

If I had to pick one or the other, I'd want 762 because it's more fun & reactive downrange, and even more destructive on flesh with golden tiger 762 which yaws like 545 practically.
And within my 400 yards steel range, the vz performs basically identically to my ak-74. Although I do hear a little extra time delay before the clanks come back to my ears.
>>
>>33216709
I was thinking more that a Vz58 in 5.45mm and with bakelite (or other suitable synthetic) for magazines, would be a really tits rifle, but the Czechs never did that and stuck with 7.62mm.

Nothing terribly wrong with 7.62mm mind you, it's a great CQB (and hunting) cartridge, but it has a decidedly more curved and short trajectory.
5.45mm is great for lighter ammo, less recoil, and long reach (though it's poorly suited for really short carbines).

It happened development of this new platform has been completed and first pre-series weapons began with army tests...

Project "Lada" / ČZ 2000 (5,45x39 / 5.56x45 mm NATO)
Since 1989 had to replace vz.58 However, due to the Velvet Revolution and the reorganization of the armed forces the project was canceled
