Dropping your gun in the mud or just having mud sprayed all over you and your gun isn't inconceivable. Happened a lot in Rhodesia. Some battlefields are rifle with trucks driving on shitty mud roads and explosions sending mud EVERYWHERE.
You want autism? The Alaskan ice water tests were autism. Having a gun end up in ice water is pretty realistic for them but pouring ice water into the receiver and leaving it to freeze in -40 overnight is autistic as fuck. The FNC still worked of course but it's a crazy extreme.

The mud they use is basically done to fuck things up. The Stgw 57 like the Stgw 90 was tested for extreme climates and passed the test.

All common guns are already the other two anyway. I'm not shooting at 1000 yards where a gnat's ass of accuracy difference per 25 yards matters.
I consider my vz58 to be the most perfect mix I've found of all of those things, plus weight/ergonomics.
