10mm is the biggest semi-auto pistol caliber. If you haven't shot it, I wouldn't recommend buying it before you do. It's got a lot of recoil, and is unpleasant to shoot for many people.

I consider it more of a camping caliber than a carry caliber. You could use it against a bear. Using it against a person, it would be very effective if you hit them, but it could also be overkill.

I got an RIA 10mm for HD when I lived in Cali since I couldn't have mag capacity anyway. It's a good caliber but unless you need something capable of killing a bear (I use it as my hiking gun now that I'm back in a free state) you'd be better off with a 9mm
