Which caliber is best?
>>33175888
.44 Magnum.
>enough powder to get good ballistics
>but with the tube capacity of .357
>and not be too fucking expensive to not shoot
>and it really is only practical in rifles
>>33175941
I was thinking this as well but 30-30 isn't much more expensive than .44 mag
>>33175968
30-30 will definitely have better long range ballistics
The pistol calibers tend to be pretty useless in that category
>>33175888
50-110, 45-70, 7.62x54r.

I have a Marlin 336 in .30-30, a year later I bought a S&W M69 in .44. I wish I had bought the lever gun in .44 for ammo commonality. I have no reason for the lever gun except fun. I suggest buying the caliber you already own or are likely to own in the future.

I have a Henry Big Boy in .357 and I really like it for plinking.
I dont do any hunting though, so I cant comment on that.

>Henry Big Boy in .357
too costly for me desu
.44 magnum, 30-30, and .45-70 are your best choices. What you want to do with it depends on which you should pick. .44 is best for plinking, 30-30 is best for medium sized game, and .45-70 if you want a good guide/safari gun with enough power to take down anything on land.
.25-20 or .38-55.

>implying you can kill hogs all day with .44 magnum
It'll kill a deer just fine as well
Henry Big Boy in .14-88

Get a .35 Rem so there's more demand for ammo.
