$600 at local gun/pawn barrel looks good, it is the safety/decocker model. Has night sights installed and was used by a sheriff department. The finish just looks a bit worn. Thoughts?I want a USP.

I don't understand
>>

do you plant to carry it? or is it just for HD?
>>

DO IT

RIGHT NOW

I've seen police trade in USP45's for $500 and sometimes lower on Gunbroker, but it all depends on the year of production and the condition. Older USP's tend to sell for less, and police guns can get pretty beat up. Then again, you're supporting a brick-and-mortar gun store, so maybe you don't mind paying the extra $100.

>>33172429
That's weird. It should decock the gun by pushing the safety lever all the way DOWN, meaning toward the magwell. Did the gun say "USP" on it, or did it say "P8"?

>>33172475
Technically, The LEM trigger is not "typified" by being on a USP. It was introduced with the P2000.
>>
>>33172496
Honestly range toy. Maybe hd but I have a P-09 I quite like
>>
>>33172502
I meant down, safe, fire, decock,
>>
>>33172475
The USP has a good single action pull and, if it's broken in, the double action should be nice and smooth. LEM is useful on a carry gun, but definitely not required, depending on preference. Plus, with the V1 USP, you can always carry it cocked-and-locked, which is just as good for some people.
>>
>>33172522
The guy didn't mind me dry firing it and the single action was excellent. I didn't pay attention to the double action
>>
>>33172212
IT'S NOT A SOLDIER'S GUN
>>
>>33172364
Not particularly. New USPs can be had online for just over $800. You're also probably going to be paying about another $50 in taxes on the one being bought from the store. A used one in rough shape at that.
>>
I just got a brand new uspc in 9mm for 550 at classic firearms
>>

LEM is the meme my dude

How much more different does the USP compact in .45 shoot than the fullsize? Only ever shot a fullsize and no range around me has the compact models for rent.
>>
>>33173632
I've shot every USP except for the 45 Compact. I have a lot of trouble believing that it would be difficult to shoot. HK does a lot of redesign on their guns when they rechamber them. I believe it would be very shootable.
>>
>>33174069
Well I ask because they obviously have different recoil spring systems
>>
>>33172212

I would jump on that in a heartbeat. Worn finish or not USPs are really neat.
>>
>>33172212
buy it
Best guns ever
>>
>>33172541
I dont get this meme. can someone give me a quick rundown on it?
>>
>>33174164
nevermind, a quick google gave me the answer. imagine that
>>
>>33174108
I have a USP40 Compact and it handles the recoil very well. They don't really have different recoil "systems." It's the same system. The full size just has a buffer spring and the compact has a buffer washer. The amount that the buffer spring flexes is pretty minuscule anyway.
>>
I bought it guys

650 out the door. Could I've of got it cheaper? Probably but I do like the store
>>
>>33172212
USP compacts and the USP 45 tactical are sex
The plain usp 45 is still a good gun but i wouldn't go out of my way to buy one especially at discount. You'll just want the tactical anyways

Cool gun, OK price.
How's the da trigger?
How dimmed are the sights?
>>
>>33175063
Sights are quite burned out I don't intend to use it for HD, or if I do I'll just throw a TLR on it. Double action trigger is ok, better than a sigma. Single action is 1911 tier IMO

That price looks about right for what you're getting
>>
>>33174988
good buy op, its a beaut
>>
How can I tell what year it was made? Also feeling it, I'd say the double action is on par with my CZ P-09
>>
>>33175123
The date code is AB.
A=0, B=1, C=2...
So it's 01
Made in 2001

Rifling looks good as well
>>
>>33175197
It would be strange if it were damaged or pitted, since it has a chrome-lined bore. But then again, it's not unheard of for cops to abuse their guns that badly.
>>
>>33175816
I'm no expert about were to find wear on a gun but It was really the only place I could think to check. I mean it was a sheriffs department so it might not of seen much use.
>>
>>33175840
With USPs, you really don't have to worry about much. It *is* possible to abuse them to the point where they can rust wherever their asshole past owner soaked the gun in sea water, so look for rust for sure - that includes inside the bore. They have a really long service life, though. As long as you don't see any cracks in the slide or frame, the finish is wearing off the outside of the barrel normally, the frame tabs aren't too rounded, the guide rod isn't bent, the firing system functions as it should, and the slide catch holds the slide open on an empty magazine, then I don't think you'll have any issues.
