What are the many paths to becoming an operator? I'd like to make this thread to discuss the various entry points, ways of gaining experience, and training methods to Military and Security contracting. Is Law Enforcement a viable alternative to Military Service in the US? Can training at places like Academi, Aegis, and DynCorp open doors to Security and Military contracts? Is the French Foreign Legion a good option for gaining experience and becoming a better operator?

Become a Ranger and then move from there.

Every SOF group has a selection process. It varies from group to group but the """easiest""" path in is be infantry or at least some sort of field deployed MOS, and get the pre-reqs (either time deployed or certain certificates like jumping and repelling that you can take in your unit).

Idk the specifics but just be smart, be fit as fuck and bust your ass.

>Is Law Enforcement a viable alternative to Military Service in the US?
For SOF? Not a chance. Unless you're some CIA HRT or FAST dude already.

>Can training at places like Academi, Aegis, and DynCorp open doors to Security and Military contracts?
Overwhelmingly no. Unless you're already known by the CIA and they magically offer you a spot on a SAD team then no. To formal SOF groups paramilitary are just untrained guns for hire.

If you want SOF do it they way they want you to do it.

>Have a few years of infantry / deployed experience on you.
>Have some sort of jump/dive/eod/whatever training
>Meet Selection pre-reqs
>Apply to selection
>Do selection
>Be SOF

Want to be an operator without joining the military?

Work as an EMT for 3-5 years until you can certify as a paramedic.

AND

Work as a armored car security guard for 3-5 years.

This will give you first responder experience and protective operations experience. All without having a degree.

Woops meant to say "contractor" instead of operator, although that could depend on if you think protective service detail contractors are "operator" i guess.

How do I get into Exec Prot. as a civi with no exp?

I don't mean high level shit, I know that's reserved for guys with tenure, but what do you think would be a good start? Armored Car stuff?
>>
>>33166839
Yes armored car, IF you dont want/have a degree.

If you have a degree, go Sheriff deputy. They do alot of prisoner transport. And then you can try applying for those kind of jobs, or go marshall after 5-7 years.

I actually have never done mil or leo, my entire experience before i got into contracting was security guard and being a bouncer at a higher end casino. My first overseas job was in kuwait back in 04, and then once i got in the system I was able to pick up small detail jobs in random asian countries, until i got into an aerospace company for a few years and i mostly worked in SEA and one summer in ME. I picked up chinese and arabic so I mostly work in SEA when I need money. Im very picky with contract lengths so I usually dont stay under the same company everytime. Luckily I networked at the start, so finding a job isnt too difficult. For the most part I work until I have a set amount to live on. Which is not very smart btw.

Is there a market for Trauma medics?

As in, will I be able to find a job contracting as a medic after the service?
>>
>>33166158
I second this. Joining the 75th Ranger Regiment is probably the easiest way into a special operations unit, and you can go a lot of places from there.
t. Ranger
