It really does. That scene is painful.

I saw the gifs and clips from this movie being posted on /k/ and it looked so horrible that I had to check it out for myself.

It actually ended up disappointing me because it WASN'T as bad as I was expecting. I thought it would be shockingly bad, but it wasn't any where near the worst movie i've ever seen.

I mean it was still shit. And it was really fun making fun of it the whole time I watched it whilst drunk. Terrible film. Just not as terrible as I thought.

The director went to great lengths to portray the guns competently, including demanding all the actors be trained on real guns, and being very picky about having the guns sound accurately loud, rather than convenient.

Lord of War is not really about gunplay/oper8ing, but does shed some light on the black/gray market gun industry. I remember liking it and thinking Cage was pretty good in it, but have only seen it once, and while I would like to see it again, haven't recently.

Gonna throw some old movies here, some of them don't need comments or synopsis:

>Battleground (1949)
Surprisingly good and interesting movie made in the immediate post war period about elements of the 101st airborne trapped in Bastogne. The film is very authentic in many aspects, the scriptwriter of the movie was a veteran of the battle of ardennes and some 101st veterans also trained the actors and appeared as extras.
>Twelve O'Clock High (1949)
Gregory Peck as a USAF Bomber officer during the WWII, who needs to put his unit in shape to daylight bombing missions.
>Decision Before Dawn (1951)
German POW volunteers as spy to the allied military intelligence in the last year of war, and need to wander in the chaotic wartorn german territory, avoiding being uncovered, to fulfill his mission.
>The Steel Helmet (1951)
First of many war movies by Samuel Fuller, himself a war veteran. follows a US ragtag platoon of mixed origins and ethnicities during the Korean War.
>The Dam Busters (1955)
Movie about the Operation Chastise, where the RAF used bouncing bombs to destroy german dams on the Ruhr valley. The film follows from the conception of the bombs, the bureaucratic struggle to approve the project, the testing of the bombs, the pilots training for the mission and the mission itself.
>Attack! (1956)
US platoon in the ardennes in 1944 need to survive their worst enemy: a incompetent and coward superior officer, backed by a corrupt colonel. Also, they use Stuart tanks painted black and armed with what I believe to be 7.5 cm cannons to simulate the german tanks.
>The Battle of the River Plate (1956)
"Lighthearted" war movie, where nobody from neither side is represented in caricate manner, about the naval battle of river plate between the german pocket battleship Graf Spee and three cruisers from the Royal Navy.
>>
>>33170456
>The One That Got Away (1957)
Film based in the true story of luftwaffe pilot Franz von Werra, who was the only german POW in british soil to have escaped back to germany.
>The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)
Alec Guinness didn't won that Best Actor Oscar for nothing.
>Run Silent Run Deep (1958)
Clark Gable is a US navy officer obsessed in getting revenge on a Japanese destroyer that destroyed his former submarine in the Bungo strait. The handling of the inside of the sub is very realistic, and if you liked the series "Silent Service" you will probably like this movie.
>Pork Chop Hill (1959)
Personally my favorite movie about the Korean war. 80% or more of the movie is basically combat, as the americans need to retake a hill occupied by the chinese.
>The Longest Day (1962)
>Zulu (1964)
>The Hill (1965)
Movie about a new batch of detainees in a british military prison camp, in the middle of the desert, in WWII.
>Battle of Britain (1969)
>Waterloo (1970)
>Kelly's Heroes (1970)
A bunch of misfits and loonies from the US army want to make a heist behind enemy lines, during WWII. This war comedy movie is probably more faithful in respect of weapons and military vehicles, with authentic halftracks, shermans and some better than average mock tigers tanks, than the majority of other serious wars movies that I have seen. Thanks Yugoslavia.
>The Man Who Would Be King (1975)
Sean Connery and Michael Caine teach some mountain tribes about war and the power of the Martini Henry.
>Breaker Morant (1980)
The British empire needs spacegoats to please the Boers, and why not ausifags.

Rifle wouldve hhit him fine and the bren shouldve been suppressing all the mercs advancing
>>
>>33183341

Basically every word out of Clive Owen's mouth is actually the director bitching about something.

There's like a 2-minute scene where he bitches about turn-signals.

Paul Giamatti's character is referred to as "A pussy with a gun" by the MC in a monologue at the end where the director bitches about gun people.

>>
>>33162947
I didnt like that movie only for one reason: i felt uncomfortable during the battles... dont get me wrong, the fals and all that shit was glorious, but the way the mercenaries attacked was retarded and made me cringe a lot.

i mean, they snipe that fat belgian guy thats waaaaaay back, but they cant manage to mow down a big bunch of slow paced guys advancing through open field? it should have been a slaughter on the mercs and yet you only see a few of them casually fall down.

And lets remember, these are mercenaries, they get paid to do this retarded attack and they willingly march forward to certain death? i know its a true story but shit seems autistic as fuck

>>
>>33174774
Beneath Hill 60 was pretty good
>>
>>33185695
the thing you haven't considered is that literally no one gave a shit about the ooga boogas. The mercs probably cared more about extending their billable hours than they did actually taking a meaningless objective.
>>
>>33185823
well, yeah thats probably the case in real life, but in the movie that's not protrayed at all, the merc commander and his 2nd in command are right there in the middle of the shit fest firing submachineguns (kekd every time i saw that). And the whitey to nigga ratio if i remember correctly was pretty even.

i mean, the movie would have benefited from the "we white devils opressing africa will put in place operation human shield, using all the cheap nig nogs to help us advance and we wont use that tactic effectively because we will gain more money the more the battle prolongs". It would have driven the point of "we the good guys vs them the really bad guys" forward and make the audience emphatize more with the irish dudes.

instead of that we get "lets put our life in risk needlesly for money, advancing forward like autistic turtles" battle scene.

i really wanted to like that movie but the parts that should have been the best were crap

When I was a kid I watched 'Day of the Jackal' on the Late, Late Show on crappy small town TV, in black and white, and fell in love with the bloody film. Close to a perfect movie. Edward Fox was an inspired choice. Ultimate, cool, completely professional and unstoppable. If only some of these movie tough guys today had half that character's confidence, or a director half as capable for that matter.

The rifle in particular stuck with me. All these decades later I've decided my crap machining skills are up to the job of making myself something like that. I never did like the crutch part for the butt plate, but otherwise want to come close to replicating the thing one day. Here's my most recently completed experiment, and I'm already working on another which is in several ways taking solid steps towards that goal. Won't go for the original cartridge though, rather stick with subsonic .22lr for the quiet plinking sort of use I'm putting them to. No big plans to become a secret squirrel, really. Honest.

While the custom work building the rifle may not seem worth the £1200 price, which at that time was rather a lot of money, think of what he's building. An utterly reliable ultralight takedown rifle, a one of a kind perfect gun. It has to work, period. No fuck-ups. And he is building g it for an assassin. He knows the purpose, and is being trusted not to rat out the killer. These things come at a premium price. The Jackal is not just buying a rifle with relatively simple features. He's buying silence and peace of mind, knowing his identity is safe and that when he pulls the trigger the bullet will always land exactly where he has aimed. The fake ID guy didn't understand the delicacy of the situation and tried to take advantage, asking for a big bump in pay as blackmail. Bad idea.

Magnum Force ftw

I only got about half way through because it had such shitty writing

>movie opens with some kinda stateside swat raid
>veteran FBI paramilitary chick goes in, almost gets shot, only doesn't because she freezes up and falls down like a fainting goat, then starts to cry and puke her guts out when it's all over while everyone else on the squad is just fine
>somehow, the next day, she elbows her way onto this elite anti-drug unit that does basically nothing but violence, violence, and more violence
>she proceeds to cry and puke and generally freak out whenever anyone points a gun at anything

its like it's written for people who sit in WOMYN SHULDNT BE IN LE MILITARY threads on reddit.

and it didn't help that it really did seem like the male members of the team were mary sues who could just telepathically pick out gangbangers (and the correct gangbangers) in a crowded highway before they even show weapons or do anything suspicious. maybe the writing's intent is that they were suspicious and had some tell, but shitty direction meant that all that happens is you see the dudes get out of the car and flip the fuck out out on some random car that is full of guys with guns in a country that is fucking saturated with guns anyway (while dressed in gear queer shit but with no identifying patches or epaulets or anything to say that they're some kind of authority and not just some gringo bangers with more money than fashion sense)

thats really all i got out of the movie. mary sues hanging out with a shrinking violet. not a good look, granddad

Then what is good writing spergo?
>>
>>33212556
it would have been massively better if they at least showed the ambushers doing something suspicious other than scowling a little.

also maybe making the FBI chick actually useful or interesting.
>>
>>33212615
If you watched the movie you'd know she was only there for legal reasons.
>>
>>veteran FBI paramilitary chick

This is how I know you didn't watch the movie.

>>33160683
just downloaded this to rewatch and damn that was one STRESSFUL movie

>>33213041
literally the opening scene of the movie is her with a bunch of SWAT dudes doing SWAT things
>>
>>33213132
I felt like that was just an excuse for Keanu to run his 3gun setup. Like why did he even bother with the shotgun? why not carry more ammo for the rifle? 3gun.

I still loved the shit out of it.

Arms dealer is my dream /k/ career.

>>33160781
I think Segal fucked up his back at some point. Because he won't even bend it a little. Makes the fights (and the fucking) look really weird.
>>
>>33213742
And how is that not /k/
>>
>>33212230
>two cops, guns out, approaching the boat
>something pop
>"that guy plays with bombs!! run!!"
>back the fuck off and let bigger people to handle it
I mean, nothing wrong here. But the scary faces while they back off is pretty damn funny.

btw, I disagree. It's a shit movie.
>"Love."
>"It's all about love."
Still, nothing wrong here, saying it out loud. But, shit.

13 Assassins is not particularly realistic but one entire third of the movie is a fuckhuge battle with fairly graphic violence. Also muh honour and muh samurai.
>>
>>33162665
no you dont. it has almost no dialogue anyway. just watch it and rejoice in the glimmering beauty of provoked violence

Plot-wise she was also supposed to represent the 'naive idealist' to contrast the operators who are running around killing the bad guys.

Lord of War is probably the best movie Cages has done and is all around a pretty good film.

Ronin (1998)
>>
>>33218160
No way, not even close, it's something like Bad Lieutenant or Raising Arizona. Lord of War is mid-tier Cage at best.
