I bought a used 1980's era Marlin in .45-70 pretty cheap from my LGS / pawn shop a few years ago. It looked practically brand new, I doubt it had more than a few boxes of bullets through it. I put in about an hour with a couple files and emory cloth to slick some parts of the action up and it functions great now. I also drilled a divot in the magazine follower so that it would hold Hornady Leverevolution / FTX loaded ammo straight in the magazine (I could've bought a new follower with a divot built in but why spend $20 when I have a drill press and bit index?).
