Apparently you can pre order APX's now. As if anyone cares about it.

I posted this in a thread earlier and got no response but..

I'm looking into possibly buying an M9 just what the hell is the difference between these two?

I don't have pics of my Beretta's yet. But I would be interested in shooting the APX. Just one more modern polymer striker to leave the Glock in the dust.

Anybody know anything about gunsmithing on the 92 platform?

Looking to get a match barrel and fit it myself, which area(s) on the barrel need to be fitted in order to center the muzzle end left/right?
>>
>>33156960
Irrelevant. You will get whatever you buy from botach in literally 25 years because they ship fucking slow.

And I mean dead fucking slow. Avoid.
>>
>>33156960
Well one is a 92FS and the other is an M9.

They are basically the same. Slight difference in the sights. The "Police Special" has, at different times, come with different sights. So read the description and see if they talk about the sights.

The police special also at different times was sold in a cardboard box and not a plastic one, since police stations don't use plastic storage boxes.
>>
>>33156960
>M9
>92FS

M9's are built here in the US, where as the 92FS is made elsewhere.

>Both are almost $200 less than I paid for mine
I feel like a fucking failure now btw.

I've bought stuff from them before it's not that bad.

>>33156984
Yeah the ergos are great, it's super comfy. I like it a lot. It points nicely and is very soft shooting, very easy to keep on target. The trigger is nothing to write home about but it isn't terrible. If you can find one for a good price I highly recommend it.
>>
>>33157029
92FS are also made in the US.

Not him but I have a PX4 Compact Carry MOD 0, picked it up last week and shot 150 rounds through it a few days back, genuinely surprised as to how good the PX4 is.

Shit shoots flat as fuck, the sights Ameriglo makes for them are amazing and everything just feels quality.

I may buy a PX4 fullsize if I see a police trade in crop if they do crop up. Missed my chance on one for $300 a few months back.
>>
>>33157096
how comfortable are you using 124 +p ammo for regular shooting?

not judging, just curious as to what you like to run through it.
>>
>>33156721
upgrade the guide rod.
>>
>>33157000
Dont, it's really not worth the effort. Aside from going full AMU M9, the only thing you're going to see that makes a lick of difference for mechanical accuracy on the 92 series is having a conical bushing fitted. A better trigger and sights may help YOU but a match barrel will mean fuck all to the gun.
>>
>>33157158
Not that anon, but when I had mine it's mostly ate a steady diet of 124gr winchester ranger and nato spec contract overruns. Still have all my fingers and both eyes
>>
>>33157316

>>
>>33157691
Meh...~$600 is about the going rate for NIB 92 w/ 3 mags

Unless you but your shit used with wear on the finish and missing/defective magazines, $600 is not so bad.

92 fs has a slight sloped dust cover. Get M9 for straight dust cover and it has no warning on the frame.

Also has anyone tried this?

Whittaker Guns has every PX4 including a $75 mail in rebate if you want in on a PX4. Prices on them are actually pretty low as it is not including the rebate

The Beretta 86 is in .380ACP so ammo would be more common and it can be used for defense.

>>
>>33163565

...Are you the guy who had two punches and a drill bit stuck in his 92s?
>>
>>33157332

Well the current barrel rubs on the slide so I'd say that's not doing wonders for accuracy

>>33157451

How is that cheaper than doing it myself?
I'm a machinist so I'd have no problems doing it myself, but I'm pretty unfamiliar with the platform and I can't find any online reading material on the subject
>>
>>33157029
92FS is also made in the US.
>>
>>33156784

>>
>>33165881
To reply to both of your posts yeah skip tell Bill Springfield shit. If you're a machinist that opens up a lot more possibilities. If you want to keep the basic Beretta look sure, get a KKM or Barsto or a Jarvis barrel. If not, you can look into a weigand nose piece, wedged compensators or building your own Beretta Combat/Steel bushing or a WAL bushing

How much are you planning on tightening the gun up. Like just improving it or going full NM?

>>33167537

I'm thinking of doing a conical WAL-type bushing myself in the future, but probably on a different 92.

For this one I just want to swap the factory barrel out for a KKM barrel and see how that improves groups. Right now this gun is getting 6" groups at 25 yds even though it's near-new (had it basically gifted to me from a friend, barely shot safe queen).

I believe this is because the barrel rubs against the slide at the muzzle end. Barrel is crooked to the right from the factory.

I couldn't find anything dimensionally off with the slide locking cutouts or frame rails so I'm guessing it's the barrel.

But before I drop the cash on the KKM barrel I want to know how to fit it, especially centering the barrel left/right at the muzzle
