Dumb nerds probably buy rip off "self defense" ammo at a 300% Mark up.
>>
>>33153710

If anyone pays more than $0.50 / rnd for "premium" ammo they're human trash
>>
>>33153710
I bet you give real good handjobs with those pretty hands of youre
>>
>>33153762
Here's your (You)
>>
>>33153710
>go to LGS
>124 gr Personal Defense HST $22/20 rounds
>go to targetsportsUSA
>124 gr Law Enforcement HST $19/50 rounds

I don't need the damn plastic box, cardboard is fine.
>>
>>33154451
Is that really the only difference?
>>
>>33154621
Yeah, Personal Defense has a plastic box and some extra tumbling to make it slightly more shiny than the Law Enforcement rounds. Easier to stack on gun store shelves and convince people to buy if it's in a fancy plastic box.
>>
>>33154686
My Academy store has the same thing going on with Sig ammo in a white box.
>>
>>33154451
lol, buying your own SD ammo and trusting your life to someone's mass produced ammo.

Ive witnessed three major failures with premium SD ammo.
Winchester with two anvils in the primer- locked up revolver and failed to ignite charge
Federal hydrashok 45 with no primer compound
hst with an inverted primer

I prefer to load my own so I know it will work.
>>
>>33154947
>loading a round with an obvious inverted primer into SD gun

I have an IQ above room temperature, so I should be fine on that account.

I also don't buy Winchester since the 2010 move from experienced East Alton, IL staff at the old plant to poorly trained scabs that routinely fuck up ammo at the Oxford, MS plant.

It's almost like disgruntled Illinois employees sabotaged the machinery before it moved south to a non-union state but I digress...

Anyway, I can't find Gold Dots as components anywhere and I'm fine with protecting myself using what the local county sheriff uses to protect the public.
>>
>>33155085
I just dont have much confidence in ammo others load. Ive seen three failures in two years which is way too much for something you defend your life with.

The hydrashoks was ammo I bought to keep in my 1911. I shot 13 and loaded the rest in the gun. before I sold the gun I shot them off to find the third round a lead styphnate free dud.
>>
>>33155279
How would you inspect your own primers to make sure they're not duds?
>>
>>33154947

>making your own self defense ammo

Enjoy getting fucked in court if it ever comes time to use it.
>>
>>33155468
He's making up this bullshit. Federal HSTs are the way to go.

you can see the paper overcard on top of the primer compound under the anvil. If that card is there, the charge should be there too. Its pretty easy to see when you are loading the primers.

how can you get fucked for loading your own self defense ammo, serious question here.
>>
>>33157027
because Massad snackbar Ayoob once said it in a video. Dont mind the fat that nobody has seen excessive charges in the courts due to hand loaded ammunition.
>>
>>33156445
i think he means for pistol ammo.
>>
>>33157027
this is a myth, it sits right next to the "oh dont modify your carry gun or youll get raped in court" myth.

no one has ever gotten anything like that to stick.

if you made some fuckin HPAPI or some crazy shit then i could see how there could be concern as out of a pistol ap is illegal.

but just reloading some hp for sd is nothing, what are they going to get you for?

"oh god he purposefully produced high quality ammo by strictly following a manual to insure he would hit someone in a self defense situation and kill them!!!!"

personally i have made 147gr subsonic HP for when i get a can soon for fun plinking steel. maybe take hunting? idk it was fun.

but i wouldent carry ammo i loaded, id rather leave my carry ammo to the guys at hornady who have been doing it for decades.
>>

Why is there a CMR icon on this?

>In men, when blood lead levels exceed 40 μg/dL, sperm count is reduced and changes occur in volume of sperm, their motility, and their morphology. A pregnant woman's elevated blood lead level can lead to miscarriage, prematurity, low birth weight, and problems with development during childhood.

>Lead is able to pass through the placenta and into breast milk, and blood lead levels in mothers and infants are usually similar. A fetus may be poisoned in utero if lead from the mother's bones is subsequently mobilized by the changes in metabolism due to pregnancy...

Thanks I know lead can be dangerous, I'm a laboratory technician so that's literally my job to know this kind of things.

The question was more on the fact that it's weird to have the CMR sticker on something other than chemicals and/or liquids. First time I see one on ammo packaging. There's isn't any CMR sticker on thermometers for exemple.

If we begin to put the stickers all around, we'll soon put a toxic one on water bottles what since you can be poisoned with enough water

I know I did, and I'm mad at myself for falling for social bullshit, but oh well.

I carry a .357, wanted to get some light loaded hollow points or something in .38 spl for carrying because I was worried about overpenetration. Asked the guy at LGS what was their cheapest .38 hollow points, and the two he shows me are fucking Liberty Defense and Hornady Critical Defense. Both were almost $1 a round. Ended up buying the Hornady just because I didn't want to bitch out and waste his time. It was stupid and I should just be carrying Perfecta ball ammo from Walmart, but whatever.
>>
>>33163441
You are aware that laboratory technicians aren't blue collars, right? The chemists who give us the reactions don't know a third of what we know. Half of the time we have to explain what we do to them since they basically never set a foot in a lab'

Laboratory technicians are the real professionals
