Are Imbel FALs the best FALs you can get in the USA?

And are they legal in NJ? Cause I can find PTRs, .308 ARs, and M1As on armslist NJ but not a FAL

Their probably the best FAL receivers you can buy for a parts kit build. I'd stay away from Coonan receivers because their quality went down and when customers complained they were unresponsive to their complaints.
>>
>>33152898
Is it better to buy a FAL whole or as a parts kit if the only thing I care about is it being reliable?

Why what?

Why the coonan receiver?
>>

I just bought a Coonan receiver. Literally nothing wrong with it. And it heats waiting a year for another group buy or paying twice as much for an Imbel that is slightly better

Take it with a grain of salt. I guess they had one batch that was pretty out of spec and for a bit refused to fix it, but eventually did. That and that crusty fuck 'gunplumber' has some massive issue against them despite the receivers being fine. They are OK, the last batch (IE mine) seemed good, type 2 carry handle cut aside from a small bit of fitting it worked fine, hand timed perfectly to 11 o'clock

fn fal is named in the assault weapons ban, so you can't specifically have an fn fal, but you should be able to own something like a ds arms variant. The hk91 is also banned by name, but you can own and buy a ptr 91. The ban is basically useless. But, ianal, so do your own research because I could be wrong.

Hey I know I'm late to the thread but I have a dsa imbel in NJ that is completely legal

Im also in the fb and mewe group
>>
>>33160046
Basically the receiver can't say FAL on it. Actual designation on dsa is dsa58. Not FAL. Some other receivers are also good to go
>>
>>33159842
>>33159857
So that SAYS L1A1 on it, but what do all the stamps and markings mean? Is there a good resource out there for that sort of thing? Like a YooperJ, but for FALs?
>>
So if the 2 most important things are reliability and that it is technically legal in NJ what FAL should I get?
>>
>>33162291
Get a DSA receiver and whatever kit you can find. Build it with 922r parts. If its not reliable fix whatever is causing the issue.
>>
>>33152875
Flandre is the only one who's done a FAL build tutorial on the internet
>>
>>33159897

>>33162291
You should save your money and leave NJ.

>retards

They are infact arguable the best. They are basically FN. the tooling are FN. they are FN licensed.

other arguable best is steyr
>>
>>33162842
I think DS ARms makes their FALs off of Steyr tooling.
>>
>>33162842
FMAP is basically FN. My 1980 Argy kit with original barrel had an FN inspector's mark on the barrel.

Best is definitely Steyr, then actual FN rifles, then Argentine/Imbel.
>>
>>33162842
It's type 3 and it's made by Brazilians

Two reasons it's out of the running

LMT a best
>>
>>33162856
>I think DS ARms makes their FALs off of Steyr tooling.

That's correct but DSA evidently cant manage it as well as steyr did.

>>33162867
yeah but argy arent as well machined as imbel.
argy's off spec. note the receiver underside weak curve.
>FN inspector's mark on the barrel
mine's is covered in enfield/BSA marking maybe some FN too.

>>33162931
so what? I like aesthetic of smooth slab side of type 3.

type 3 is stronger and will last forever. Imbel is a exception from "Brazilian make shit gun".

Sure LMT is one of best but its only receiver.

Quite a few IMBEL barreled kits in the US came from Chile. Some had genuine FN barrels, although IMBEL is just as good. Some were fully chrome lined and others had chrome chambers only. There is no way to determine if your IMBEL was imported from Chile as there were no unique markings, other than generally appearing to have been "carried a lot but shot very little" (the conflict with Argentina they were arming for never went hot). Many also lacked the serial number on the lower receiver. These were patterns that people noticed and are by no means definitive. I'm not sure why FALs were used by so many notable anti-communists regimes but personally I think it adds to the appeal. There might be another IMBEL GL receiver group buy in the future, but no word yet.
>>
>>33163166
>yeah but argy arent as well machined as imbel.
Yea, no. They're just as good, if not better.

Seriously, DSA is just fine.
>>
>>33154893
Coonan would not be able to make correct receivers if it were not for that crusty fuck the gunplumber. The internet is an amazing thing where arguments and facts and pictures are saved for almost ever and if you know how to look you can find them. Falfiles and ak files, get a membership its worth it.
>>
>>33159944
Yeah show me where I can buy an fn receiver in the united states, I got time. Also lmt marked dsa, something else that is also no longer getting made lol. Thats like saying the best AK receivers are izmash, ok cool what fucking good does that do anyone in the u.s. who cant get one?
>>
i bought a complete DSA because I didn't know that you could get used StGs for not that much more. was already sinking $1100 in it and for $1300-1500 there's better.
>>
>>33162931
Implying brazimonkeys cant make awesome weapons when they have correct tooling a la pt92, come on nigga at least try.
