20 round mags, the only AR I have is a Retro one I built from an M16A1 parts kit. I bought a bunch of old 20 round adventure line mags for it that all work perfectly, but the one colt 30 round mag I have jams all the time in it.

Also replace the mag spring in the Colt one and maybe drop a magpul follower in it while you have it apart. It'll work right again.

For marksmanship (22in barrel, full stock)I usually use 10rd mags just because it shaves a little weight and it fits the asthetics of a precision rifle a little better IMHO.
For my "normal" AR, which I use for HD, it's 30 round mags all day
I've never used 20s for whatever reason.

.223 ammo should be packed 30 to a box.

20 rounders because it's easier to load by the box.

I have USGI and Magpul 30rd mags too, they are whatever. I only have them for my chest rig.

I like the 20-rounders. They're easier to load, they're lighter, and they make a smaller bump on the bottom of my rifle. They also look better to my eyes.

That said, I've never been in a gunfight. And if I planned on making a habit out of it, I might well decide the entire US military establishment for the past several decades was right and start vacuuming up 30-rounders.

Your mileage, as in all things /k/, may vary.

I love it. They're harder to load, and you can't use the STANAG magloader, but it's honestly worth it. They fit into regular mag pouches, and it's functionally the same as having 2 mags strapped together, without having to reload.

'Course, I own a Del-Ton AR, so my firearm will overheat and melt before I run out of mags.

Most houses where I'm at don't have any brick. Those that do only have 1 or 2 brick walls on the front for aesthetic purpose mostly. Only the older houses are completely brick.

30 rounders for home defense, 20 round for range and photo op use. They just look better, they are better for prone/bench shooting and I never load more than 5 in the mag anyway.

Right now all I have are two brownells 20 rounders. One of them is fucked up and fails to feed properly (I think I bent one of the lips by accident) so it's going in the trash. Other than Brownells who else makes 20 round magazines that I should look into?
