I once read about this a fair bit. One thing that nobody seemed to eager to talk about was that the cultists actually let the ATF retreat and gather their wounded when the initial raid fell over over. If they had wanted to they could have slaughtered them. As in "nobody goes home" kind of losses.

I'm no expert in cults, building raids, or anything really, but how the ATF didn't get disbanded or reorganized after this situation is a real question. Politics I suppose.

Can't track it down right now but one of the most scathing articles on Waco I've read was by an advisor (I believe, it might have been the press secretary or someone like that) from the Clinton administration.

Funny story, I worked for a party production company in Waco and the security guard was former McLennan Sheriff's Dpt. from the 90's. He can be seen in one of the videos.

We were hanging out taking a break and he mentioned a "bullet riddled door from the compound" had the bullet holes filled in and the surface refinished so they could mount it on a utility shed (for servicing patrol cars or something). He said it was too impractical to keep in evidence since they didn't think it would be prudent and just treated it like any other trash scrap from the compound.

He was a security guard for the Waco Paladium in 2006, mid 60's, with red hair.
