Well, 5 years ago the response to owning 5 or more guns was something like "Why do you NEED more than a pistol and a rifle/shotgun?" and this year owning 5 or more guns is met with a resounding "meh".

I think it isn't really a criticism of guns like a hoplophobe would have, it's just like if you lived alone and only drove to work and back questioning why you would own more than 1 or 2 cars.

It is funny that the vast majority of the time I'm asked why I'm carrying a knife is while I'm using it for the purpose I'm carrying it.

I was using a 5-6" fixed blade to cut down large boxes, styrofoam, etc, and people were just gawking it at like it was the weirdest thing ever. I also had a razor utility knife with me and they asked why I needed both.

Tried explaining that the razor does almost everything I need, so use it mostly, but there are certain things where the 1" of usable blade is not enough, hence the bigger knife (which I didn't even carry on me, it was in my car)

I never saw any of those threads, I got a majority of my info from the Spas-12 project website and forgotten weapons. After taking it apart the first time I found out that the receiver buffer had already been replaced with one of the SPAS-12 project buffers by the previous owner and is still in one piece, the receiver isn't damaged at all.. I guess I now have an extra buffer if/when I ever need it since I bought one beforehand. The stock buffer is a different story though. It was crumbled to pieces, so I bought one of the Spas-12 project ones straight away and it arrives in a few days, that way I won't damage the butt of the folding stock when shooting it.

I'm not really the one qualified to comment on that yet since I haven't taken it for a spin yet (waiting on a stock buffer before shooting it.) What I can say though is that the controls aren't as complicated as I thought they might be and that once you get used to using them often, it becomes pretty easy to work the action. It is fairly heavy as far as shotguns go, though with the stock unfolded, it isn't too front-heavy. The stock isn't all that uncomfortable, although that is probably a different story after shooting it long enough. Swapping between semi and pump is a very smooth transition and does have some real practical use to it. To me, it's not a complete meme, but if you want a truly practical combat or home defense shotgun, this isn't the gun for you, just get a Benelli M4.
