What amount of heat is required to loosen them? And would that amount of heat damage the rail?

Just steer clear of PTAC from PSA. Known garbage parts. 16" is generally the best all around length since it's not in NFA territory, but it's not so long as to be unwieldy. Any length AR can shoot reasonably well at 200 yards. You'll be best off looking at getting a mid length gas.

Psi has a good write up of brands to go with/avoid. Generally aero, PSA, BCM are good for building.
Pre built, S&W, Ruger, Colt, and BCM are good to go with.

Ballistic advantage barrels are a great way to get a good barrel for <$200.

The kit I linked has a normal drop in handguard. If you want to get into free floating, there's about a million handguards, most of which are in the $200 range.

Does the colt have sights? Pretty sure the FN has a matech sight as well as a handguard, stock, and grip. The OEM is lacking all of that.

yeah its. you could google around try to find carrier that have oversize OD or upper that have undersize ID I remember seeing over sized bolt carrier years back.

I will relay my experience.

BCM upper and toolcraft or CMT bcg low moderate slop

Spikes upper and toolcraft bcg moderate slop

first shitty anderson upper and toolcraft minimal slop until about 1/2 way back its tight (the upper is probably curved trash)

second shitty anderson upper and toolcraft moderate slop

HDSI upper and CMT bcg lowest slop i ever experinced zero wobble with two lowers one of them is my anderson.

speak of HDSI if you get one of those upper weapon outfitter sell and replace the barrel for kreiger you will be able to win matches if your skill are there. hands down.

my worn colt upper and toolcraft slop like motherfucker its like pennies in sock but once its under tension by buffer it feel minimal.

Illumination was bright, but battery life is short.

The glass really isn't as clear as a quality 1-4x or 1-6x.
