Opinions on .38 special revolvers?
>>
>>33127781
They fit in your pocket.
>>
I was thinking of getting because of that and I like the look
>>
>>33127793
Ammo's more expensive than 9mm (unless you get a 9mm revolver)

But revolvers are pretty cool.
>>
You need the right kind of grip for it, otherwise your pinky has nowhere to go and you're gripping with two fingers.
>>
How rare are 9mm revolvers?

They're pretty cool, just got one.

It's really fine, most small autos are like that too.

I do have issues hitting targets at more than 10 yards though.

Detective special

A .357/.38 spcl revolver is a great starting gun for someone interested in reloading, though
>>
For self defence I feel a snub nose should be able to get the job done
>>
>>33127855
Not everyone makes one, but there's the Ruger LCR, which is available in 9mm Luger, using moon clips.

I have a 649-5. Loaded with .38 FMJ but it can take .357 too.

I cant seem to work the gutter sights very good, but I'm insanely decent at point shooting with revolvers.

I find that all the time I spend lining up the sights and getting not that great accuracy, I can fire all five from the hip and achieve the same accuracy.

The double action pull is a wee bit heavy for my liking. not at all like my other classic smiths. I suspect its just too gritty.

Snubnose .38s are legitimately underrated. They remain easier to conceal than almost anything that isn't an LCP, and they are both safer to carry and and more reliable than most of the current crop of pocket 9mm and .380 guns.

At the very least, I know that they are better than the Glock 43, Sig P238, and Kahr CW 380, all of which let me down in one way or another. My 642 has not.

i couldnt stand carrying an automatic.. i feel like i would think about it all the time

but i would have no trouble carrying a little revolver

they need to make something that fires 8 shots of 327 though

and its possible to double stack the revolver in layers and have two alternating barells

a 12 shot 327 is possible in the same size as a 7 shot .38 special!!!!!!!

dont steal my idea though im going to make this when i have enough moneys

This. Auto loaders take a LOT of practice and testing to develop proficiency and assurance that you're using the correct combination of ammunition and magazines, and that your piece is reliable.

Folks who don't have the interest or desire to work with an auto loader on a regular basis, but are still in need of home or personal defense, the revolver is the FAR better option.

Of course, some practice is necessary, but revolvers just don't need as much.

Reloading a revolver in stress is much harder than loading an auto in stress.

I love my s&w 36. Sometimes use it as backup, want to get an ankle holster for it.

True, but for civilian home or self defense situations. one .38 in the face would resolve most issues. If one suspects that they could be involved in a protracted firefight, one would not even consider a handgun.
>>
>>33131184
Look up "speed loaders."
Practice, practice, practice.
Also, Jerry Miculek.
It can be done.

Thinking of getting an LCRx for a pocket gun. Are the 3" barrels too heavy/long to be comfortable for that?

I love wheel guns. I carry a charter arms 38 undercover. Great choice. I also have a taurus 85 and sw 642. This is prob my favorite 5ho.
>>
I carry a full size k-frame in .38 spcl. It has a good heft to it, points naturally, it's as comfortable in the hand as your own cock, and with such a mild cartridge coming from such a beefy gun, recoil is more than manageable.
>>
>>33132305
Yeah, you're probably better off with the 2" barrel
>>
In addition to it being a good carry piece, it's also a good gun to stash in a glove compartment, shed, garage, drawer, etc.
>>
>>33132620
I keep a taurus 85 in my wifes familys vacation home. I have 4 of them that are my stash wherever guns. You never know what could happen
>>
I had a 38 and sold it because it didnt have enough "bang"

bought a 357 snubbie and havent looked back.

Revolvers are nice. I carry a 442 and have a model 13 for a full size gun.
>>

CUTE
>>
What's a good .38 spcl carry revolver that isn't a cheap piece of garbage like a taurus and doesn't look a shit?
>>
>>33131184
Massad Ayoob has a trick for that, check this out:

>>
Is it better to buy a .38 revolver, or buy a .357 revolver and just shoot .38 in that?
>>
>>33127781
I think they're better than .357 Magnum revolvers. Most of the time you will never need .357 to take someone down.
>>
>>33134735
Just buy a .38 only. It makes more sense cause then it's not heavier if you're only going to shoot .38 special.
>>
>>33127781
they have special place in my hearth
