I think the DI guys are right and you should buy an AR 18 derivative if you must have a piston rod gun.
But looking at the HK 33 thread, even that seems to make DI fans angry.

I'm not arguing that piston ar's are better, infact i believe that DI ar's are better, i'm just suggesting a solution to one of the many of problems piston ar's have.

Mandatory reminder: a "direct impingement" AR is simply a piston internal to the bolt.

That knowledge isn't really necessary for the purposes of this thread.
As long as your R&D costs are offset by lower wear costs compared to DI, go for it. Not my money.
