About 20 minutes ago I shot 10 rounds of 22 in my backyard. Last weekend was my last full blown range trip.

Yesterday morning after work. Forgot my targets though, so I just set up clays, rocks, shotgun shells, and shot random shit. 10/10 would shoot again.

60 rounds through the Blackout. Got the new irons zeroed.

100 rounds through the Glock. Meh. It's truly the Honda Civic of handguns.

3 rounds through the Tokarev. Chinese barrel will still not go into battery. I'll most likely try to clean up the shitty Serb barrel it came with. The crown is chewed to shit, but at least it fires.

The last time was in July-August 2015. I had to renew my firearms ownership license, so I was forced to got to the firing range even if I wasn't feeling like, so I could keep and be able to use my guns for 5 years more. It sucks, it takes a lot of money and time, but I guess it's better than no-guns.
For that reason I've been doing other, less restrictive hobbies like vidya consoles, upgrading my computer, getting new hardware, collecting other stuff, buying expensive drinks, hanging out with friends (none of them own guns), etc. Luckily I want to start shooting again, and even blew my piggy bank on a new firearm.

Couple hours ago, took out my SVTS-40, MK1919 shotgun and a 22, shot some stuff at my buddy's place. He has a shitton of land, we even put holes in old brake disks set up a good 50 yards away with glorious 7.62x54R.

My friend brought his girlfriend once. She wanted to shoot my sks, I was hesitant but friend said she'd be fine so I backed off and let him handle her. She shot the target hanger right where it connects to the track it runs on on the ceiling. Impressive if she'd been aiming for it.

458 Lott. Cz 550. I wanted the euro comb stock (hogback?) but I'm actually digging this one. I'm so glad I put the stock pouch on that has a nice cheek pad because my 45-70 would hit my cheekbone hard...this would have really hurt having my cheek on the wood.

There's huge billboards, media campaigns, and hurricane preparedness guides in every newspaper and grocery store come summer; and yet people still fail to have enough canned soup to last for a 3 day blackout. The last few scares I've been stuck in the hysteria shopping lines for incredibly dumb reasons. Time before last I was trying to buy my wife a birthday cake and didn't realize people were panicking over the storm coming. I was giddy hoping I'd be able to break put some of the backpacking gear to get comfy for the weekend.

I was imagining you were either hot-loading a 458WM or shooting a milder load of Lott, or really average 450 Rigby.

I got a 1914 Enfield, it was "sporterized" before I bought it, then I had it rebarelled to 45-70. Nice strong action lets me send 400gr JSPs at 2050ft/s, I've gotten 500gr Barnes Banded Solids at 1750 and lead hardcasts at 1800 using H4198 all over a chrony. Pretty good for an 18.5" barrel 7 1/2lbs rifle.

I do need a new stock, the current one is starting to split, the steel buttplate doesn't help the wood stay in one piece. Plus the original "sporterized" (butchered more like) was pretty shit so it would give me a chance to make her pretty again.

Nice. That's quite a respectable velocity out of the 45-70. I was fantasizing about 460Weatherby or 500J or 505G before I got this...but I'm totally content with this for my big gun. I've no desire for anything that kicks more or sends a big bullet going faster.

I wouldn't recommend it for anything less than a good bolt action or single shot, with that barrel I had to sit 400gr bullets over 52.5 grains of H4198, and the 500gr bullets started to drop primers at 46 (47?) grains of the same powder. Velocity was at 43 and 44 grains for both bullets, IIRC.

Honestly if I could do it all over again, I would have gotten a CZ550 like yours in 450 Rigby. They can use 45-70 bullets, common and easy to find in cast offerings, the cases last a long time, and they have a good load versatility with brass that's available. Federal still makes 450 Rigby ammo; although factory ammo is going to be expensive, at least it's still available. With handloads, the 450 has all the versatility of the big safari guns with very few drawbacks.

I have never been so tempted as that time a while back where I saw a 550 Safari Lux in 450 Rigby with a couple boxes of factory ammo for 5300 bucks. I'm not in Canada so prices are higher, but even then the rifle was absolutely gorgeous.

I want to try a big gun eventually, the Lott would be fun for sure. For now I have to stay content with shooting 2 1/4 ounce turkey loads out of my buddy's 870 Super Mag. 985 grains of lead at 1200 ft/s is a fun ride, I tell ya.

My first belted round was the 300 Win Mag, both those look great to me.

I'd love a 338 but there are few places I could even come close to stretching the legs on that. Even my 300 doesn't get much of a workout, I built it to reach out a mile and I've never found a place past a thousand yards. It's pretty lame.

No weed, and I've never even smoked to be honest. It was a concealed firearm charge I got coming back from work. I worked at a gunstore of all places. Funny how they can get you for that even when the gun is unloaded and not on your person.

Moral of the story is to keep a shotgun in your truck in Cali, and if you want to have a handgun lock it up or keep it in the trunk.

Haven't actually gone shooting yet, picked up a 10/22 as a cheap first gun and have been meaning to take it and an old .38 out plinking, but in the interim my opinion of the 10/22 has really soured and the nearest decent outdoor range has bullshit rules about handguns
