Let me set the scene:
You're held up at gunpoint on the sidewalk; is it legal to give up all your stuff, wait for the robber to take a few steps away, then draw your gun, aim, shout 'HEY FAGGOT' and when he turns around to face you, shoot him dead in order to reclaim your stuff?
Now, I'm not talking about you staying silent until your lawyer arrives and the police having no evidence except a known robber with an unregistered weapon and his fingerprints on your stuff (ie no charges laid, woohoo for you).
