I would argue that the lack of any thermal sensors is actually a pretty big flaw.

That's pretty typical for a pure air-to-air fighter. F-106 was retired without doing jack-shit, F-22's gonna be the same.

Hopefully we get a small skirmish in the SCS that doesn't turn into full on war, so that we can see our new toys curb stomp poorly trained chinamen conscripts and copies of outdated Russian fighters.

I would honestly love to see a skirmish with the f22 involved where we see a glimpse of its full potential

A job a 50+ year old plane does just as well as the ISIS dirtbags don't have any air defence. All just so they can say the F22 did something.

If I'm going to clean out my dirty shed, I'm not gonna put on an expensive tuxedo.

Eurofighter had to be flanked by Tornados to paint the targets, it can't operate alone as a bomber.
The only plane that did all its missions alone is the Rafale.

Cost.
Number produced too low.
Lacks modern IRST/EOTS/DAS.
Lacks bi-directional data links.
Short range.

Despite those flaws its still the best air-superiority fighter in the world.

Lotta people making parts senpai.

>>33113485
I can't go into detail, but every part requires a massive amount of rework to get it to pass QA.
We spend about 3 times longer on these parts than we should.

I'm one of the guys who's been shitting all over the F-35 in the other thread, and honestly, there's not that much to complain about with the F-22. It's a solid aircraft that will last us until we finally get UAVs good enough to take over for them (which, admittedly, will be a while).
>>
How about it takes eight months to build?

How will you replace losses in a high threat environment?

Oh that's right, the F16 line is mothballed and can build a plane in a week.
