The .223 (and 5.45) are actually not all that bad unconverted. They're not "SCARY BLACK RIFLE" and with a smaller magazine make pretty innocuous looking plinkers or hunting rifles.

The only truly AWFUL Saiga to leave unconverted is the .308 with it's crazy ass 16th century crossbow trigger.

I found 2 actual Marlin mags at a gun show. I bought the S&W 659 since they share mags, but the flush Marlin ones wont fit that gun. Ive found the longer S&W mags get stuck if you jam them in with the bolt open, so I just leave it close when I put them in.

That might explain why they would work sometimes. The disconnect drives me crazy. My camp 9 was a very recent acquisitionand it's a lot of fun but man is it designed in a retarded way.

AR with a PSA upper and green Armalite furniture. I think PSA is very good value for money for a beginner. Honestly my M1A is my favorite rifle by far and the AR is a red headed stepchild I dgaf about so I kept the build cheap.
M1A is a great rifle. Very comfortable to shoot. Not the best value, I'd normally only recommend getting one if you absolutely fall in love with the Garand action.
CZ 452 is the best .22 rifle I've ever shot, and I've owned many over the years. Unfortunately it's out of production and scarce nowadays. I don't like the 455 as much since it doesn't have the smooth bolt the 452 does.
Mossberg 500 is my #1 recommended shotgun. Cheap, practical, I've had that one for years. The H&R next to it is what you should get if prefer the 870. Impulse buy, cost me $160.
Pistol-wise I have a Ruger LCRx I got cheap from a co-worker. Seems nice but haven't shot it yet. Ruger Security Six is my favorite gun of all, if you find one (for sane money, sometimes under $400) buy it.
CZ75 is a recent trade acquisition. Dig it. Yes it has wear but it was a range rental for 5 years and it still shoots great.
Pistol with a light is a Glock 23. I don't particularly like Glocks or .40s&w but it was super cheap and I have a 9mm conversion barrel.
Next to it is a Hi-Point. $70 shits n giggles purchase. Works great honesty, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you were really poor.

Yes it's an Armalite set. They have it on clearance on their website. Carbine set with mil-spec buffer tube is $65 and a rifle set was like $30 or something.

Quality isn't actually that good but it looks pretty. Also I'm glad I replaced my pig disgusting slant cut commercial tube with a flat mil-spec one.

All over the place, frankly. The primary source was actually a series of videos that IV8888 did on reloading .577/.450. However, as we didn't want to drop a bunch of money on the bullets (and we're not casting), we actually got some 405 grain .45-70 cast lead bullets. The diameter is a little small, but paper patching can make them work. In any case, we're not really going for accuracy (although the rifle is capable of it - I've hit a steel target at ~200 yards offhand). It's just a fun gun to blast.

When you get yours, I'd suggest completely breaking it down, and be prepared to scrub. Our rifle had a fair amount of pitting on the underside of the barrel, where it meets the stock. Also, the reinforcing bar on the bottom of the receiver is a place where the stocks tend to be pretty rotten. We got some wood epoxy to fill it in and stained it to match the stock. So far, it's held up pretty well.
