Lads,

New gun fag here.

I just bought a New Beretta 92FS made in Italy.

I was just curious to know if there is a difference between the Italy version and the USA version?

Which one is better?

Also bought a Maverick 88, which was cheap.

Thanks lads.

/pol/ turned /k/
>>
>>33107687
you did good. A maverick 88 can blow a nigger's head off just as well as any other shotgun
>>
>>33107687
Great first gun, it's an excellent handgun; dont be discouraged when anons get autistic because you didnt buy <competitors pistol here>

Mav 88 is good too. Did you buy them both at the same time?

you did fine.

>>33107723
Is it a normal thing where you're from to take pictures with your farm equipment?
>>
>>33107720

Yeah, I went into the shop and bought them both at the same time.

The people behind the counter were great, and very friendly too.

It's just that I noticed that I purchased an Italian model, and not a USA one.

They also had some sexy guns on the racks, like a Winchester 1887
>>
>>33107687

I've wanted one of those for ages but for some reason never ended up getting one and now 94% of /k/ seems to have gotten one over the weekend

Congrats, welcome to the Beretta club. The guns are basically identical except for the markings. Neither is better or worse in any real way. You may have slightly higher resale value since some guys like Italian guns to be made in Italy, but that's only really for people who are really going to value the Beretta name.

Thanks mate.

Ok, now I feel happy about going Italian.

I didn't want there to be a huge difference in the aesthetic of the gun, since I like how it looked in Max Payne (2001 Pc Game).

The thing is, I passed the background check with flying colors, but they told me to come back 3 days later to pick up both guns.

I live in Illinois, is that normal or is it just because they saw an inexperienced young guy buying two guns?
>>
>>33107733
come on man. she looks very pretty and he looks totally bro-tier.
>>
>>33107723

She is cute.

Gotta find me a q.t black girl who is based.
>>
>>33107706

It was much bigger than I imagined it would be, the Maverick 88.

On Youtube it looked smaller.

It really put it in perspective when I saw it up close and personal.

They have a gun range below the shop, but I don't know if they allow me to practice with the shotgun.

I live in an apartment, what ammo would you guys recommend so that I don't kill my next door neighbor?

How do you like the 92S? Worth the money? Can you find mags?

I've heard the grips are slippery.

I like it. It was worth $300 to me.

Grips arent bad. But they are a pretty hard plastic so the smooth parts could get to feeling slippery with sweaty hands.
The front of the grip is also smooth with no grooves or serations in the metal, so that doesnt help.
But i still like it overall. Mine will just be a truck gun or something. Sonce it already shows alot of wear.

>>33107687

>>33108082
Forgot to mention, the rear of the grip doesnt have any grooves or serations either, so it all contributes to a " slippery feel"

Mags arent a problem. I got some universal fit mecgars for about $25 a piece. Not sure the part number but they work in a few of the 92 models including 92fs and the 92s
>>
>>33107795
yeah somehow before I was hasguns I didn't expect guns to feel like chunks of steel in my hands, but - surprise - they do

#BB shot. Don't fall for birdshot meme
>>
>>33108016
Factory Beretta mags should work because of the hole near the base, but Mec-Gars and M9 contract mags will have to be modified.

Not him, but I bought one too when JG had them for $250 like two weeks ago. I'm loving mine. The grip feels a bit slick but I wouldn't call it slippery. Like the other anon said, that feeling is mostly owed to the lack of serrations on the front and rear of the grip. The checkering on the lower half of the grips work alright.

As for mags. I think these should work but I'm not 100% sure. As the other anon said, Beretta branded mags will work in these older guns with the heel mag release. I've been meaning to order some to find out. Only $16.50 shipped:

https://www.armsunlimited.com/Beretta-92-Series-9mm-15-round-Magazines-p/jm92hcb.htm

If you think the gun might be too slippery, I found some walnut grips here for $26 plus shipping.

https://www.gunsamerica.com/905473663/Beretta-92S-Grips-Herretts-Walnut-Checkered-Palmswell-92S-Only-with-European-Magazine-Release-NO-GO-on-92F-No-92FS-Fit-old-model-Berettas-O.htm

>Worth the money?
I certainly think so. I paid $270 out the door which is less than what a used Taurus PT92 goes for in my area.
>>
Just remember to inspect the locking block for cracks when you get it, these older 92S's have an unknown round count, and worst case, the locking block breaks and you have to call your range session until you get it replaced.

Also may want to pop in a D spring for better DA pull
>>
>>33108614
That's best case, not worst case in the event of a locking block break. Fucking phone.
>>
>>33107687

better is personal preference, I like the M9 because USA and it doesn't have "read manual before use" on its side.

Sounds like a mandatory waiting period, I'm not familiar with IL law but I expect it to be par for the course there.

bird shot. it's non lethal pass 5 yards i think but it will scare assailant away. If they are in 5 yard
range then it's very deadly. also you can hand load cut shell with bird loads to kill

>>33107792
Waiting period is standard in IL. CCW takes a long time for them to process as well.

>There is a waiting period to take possession after purchasing a firearm — 72 hours for a handgun, or 24 hours for a rifle or shotgun. For private sales, the seller must verify the buyer's FOID card, and keep a record of the sale for at least 10 years.

>>
>>33113590
A new CZ75B is a better stock handgun than a Beretta 92FS, if both are right out of the box.

A new Beretta is a better handgun than the CZ after a few simple upgrades (D spring, extended mag release, steel trigger and guide rod) however.

But ultimately taste is subjective and both are fantastic firearms. Can't go wrong with either.

90 series guns do not have fixed barrels. The barrel and slide recoil as a locked unit for about .2 inches before the breech unlocks.
