CCFR isn't the greatest pusher of gun rights, they don't have that hard hitting style, but Rod Giltaca is a great spokesman and they've got a lot of positive media. Let's just say they don't turn the general populous against us every time they make a statement.... anyways, I'm not even sure the NFA is still around.

Just passed my CFSC, getting the restricted extension next weekend. Originally they weren't going to do one but enough people on my course were like Fuck it why not, that our instructor invited us to his house to do it. What a bro.

I was actually surprised to be able to do the course at all. I'm not a leaf yet, still technically an ausfag married to a leaf.

Once I send my paperwork for the PAL any idea how long it's meant to take? InstructorBro said it can sometimes take a whole year but that seems pretty reserved. Said if you call and hassle them its faster. How often should i call? I dont wanna come across too insistant and look like some foreign nutcase looking to shoot up the local syrup stand.
>>
>>33097819
You don't actually need to be a resident to get a PAL. That being said, a restricted license can vary in wait times between the minimum (28 days) and up to a couple years, though that's pretty extreme. Typically wait time seems to be 2-4 months these days, though it can be sped up by semi-routine and polite calls to the firearms program.
>>
>>33097819
>ausfag

Thanks, plan to pick up an SKS as my first. Cabelas has some nice russian ones in stock locally I'm gonna look at. I wanna pick up as many soviet rifles as i legally can. Big fan of russian milsurp.

Hey speaking of which; whats the general policy in stores about looking at firearms? Would they yave issue with someone wanting to inspect stock without a PAL yet?
>>
>>33098675
They'd probably tell you to come back when you get your PAL.
>>
So I'm looking into getting my first gun in maybe a few years. (Assuming I can get a place of my own) I'm going to be buying an SKS off Trade Ex Canada along with a crate of ammo.

I've been researching stuff and watching many a video in preparation and I've been starting to worry about the corrosive ammo I'm going to be using. I've been seeing alot of different ways of cleaning the gun after using it. Like boiling water or warm water and windex.

So I'm just wondering what solution you guys use.
>>
>>33099547
>maybe a few years
Anon don't like that maybe.
>>
>>33099583
I use maybe meaning it might be 3 years or maybe 5 years. My point is that I want one as soon as feasibley possible
>>
Family Photo time? I just picked up an AG42B that isn't in the photo yet but this is the collection I've amassed in the past six months.
>>
>>33099547
>>33099618
>3-5 years
Chances are you'll be buying an SKS second hand and new production ammo to go with it. Regardless, don't worry too much about corrosive, as long as you clean your gun thoroughly afterwards (no more black stuff on paper towel or switches) then you're fine. Always oil after cleaning too.
>>
>>33099649
Solid collection. I really like the Enfield you have there. No1Mk3* if I had to guess. And where ever did you find an AG42B?

Anything else you recommend I can get legally? Preferably with loads that are still relatively available

>>
>>33100757
>>33100833
i did the same when i started, bought up lots of ruskie surplus

you will want to add SVT to your list

tokarev pistols are fun guns but not the greatest choice to get into handguns, if you're low on cash a norinco 9mm might be a better choice
>>
>>33100844
you'll just have to do some paperwork

it would help if you said which M&P

if you're talking about a handgun it'll be difficult for you, lots of paperwork to fill out and anything with <4.25" barrel is verboten
>>
>>33100844
>>33100877
just realized it's obvious you're talking about a handgun since you mentioned CCL

they don't care if you're LEO or have a CCL

>>
>>33100856
Cheers man! Will see if any SVTs are local. I mostly mentioned the tokarev since my local gunsmith has about 4 of them for sale, advertised as 'new' condition. Seemed promising, assuming i can get ammo for it.

Oh how I wish Dragunov's were legal. Such a sexy sexy rifle.
>>
>>33100890
Shit and fuck. It's a .40 M&P with a 4.25" barrel. Round limit at all?
>>
>>33100985
10 round mag limit on handguns (you could even just rivet some if you don't have any 10 round mags)

you'll need to apply for an ATT from the chief firearms officer beforehand from both provinces

this might help you a bit

I like and respect O'Leary on some level for his business acumen, but as prime minister? Hell no.

Mad Max isn't that much better, he gave classified intel to his girl who was cucking him with Hells Angels.
>>
>>33102026

That's not quite right...

In 2008, he brought documents with him so he could work on them and forgot them there. His GF at the time had dated a guy who had links to the HA's prior to 1999 and, after the whole ordeal, he voluntarily stepped-down even though Harper didn't think it was necessary and he still managed to climb back up to a ministerial position and won his riding in Beauce with the largest majority of any conservative in the province during the 2015 election with almost 60% of the vote.

It's actually kind of impressive that such a distorted version of the events is what you were left with.

>>
>>33099547

Using corrosive isnt a big deal. You just need to diligently clean your rifle after. I bring a thermos with boiling water to the range, and after I'm done shooting I pour that boiling water down the barrel, gas system and the trigger and magazine. Due to it being boiling hot, the water pretty much evaporates on the metal and does the job of neutralising the pesky salts. Then just as many dry and bore-solvented patches you need to get that barrel clean.

SKS's are great guns and will serve you very well if you take of them.
>>
>>33102702
It's just any other shitty 22 but in a shell. Buy something with a neat caliber/mechanism/etc. if you want fun.
>>
>>33099547
this >>33102891

Just flush with boiling water and dry with patches. After that just clean like you normally would any gun with hoppes or whatever.
>>
>>33102891
>>33102933

>>33102932

I hate how well it works but if you take a politicians stance on firearms it's extremely easy to gauge how they feel about everything else.
The way that Oleary described the AR15 tells me he knows literally nothing about rifles but has made his mind up how he sees them.
What stops him from doing the same with everything else?
>>
>>33104612
Whats strange is that he says he was a military cadet in college and received a marksman badge for shooting, he still does target shooting and he teaches his son.

Tracey Wilson on CCFR/CCDAF Facebook page posted the video with the question and answer from OLeary
>>
OLeary says we don't need silencers. No need for them in hunting, they mess with the harmonics of the barrel and such.

Is ok with 5 round magazine limit. He is fine with the laws the way they are, he just wants to make it more clear to understand.

OLeary confirmed for FUDD

Instead of talking about mag limits we need to start talking about "speed rivets" that are legally mandated in the magazines, which enable the user to fire off all the rounds in the magazine up to 6 times faster than a fully loaded magazine without.

#BanSpeedRivets

>Suppressors slow down the projectiles

That's the EXACT OPPOSITE of what it does! It increases pressure, thereby increasing velocity. That's why people specifically make lower powered rounds to fire through suppressors!
>>
>>33112644
You don't quite have it Anon.
Low velocity cartridges are to attempt to get the projectile to not break the sound barrier.

With a suppressor and standard ammunition, you're reducing the muzzle sound but there will still be the big crack of the projectile's sonic boom.

The addition to the length of the barrel is negligible since most of the pressure is being stolen from behind the projectile and into the baffles of the suppressor.
>>
>>33113003

Look at a suppressed AR-15. It sprays gas into your face because of the increased pressure.

The only cases I can think of where the velocity is lowered is in cases like the MP5 where they port the barrel to bleed off pressure to prevent the delayed blowback from cycling too fast and tearing the rims right off the brass.
>>
>>33113242
>Look at a suppressed AR-15
I think you're focusing on the wrong part.
With suppressor and without, there is a constant pressure exerted from the cartridge.
We agree on that part right?

Now.
Without suppressor- Gas primarily exits the barrel directly following the bullet with some of the gas being directed to cycle the action.

With suppressor- Gas primarily exits the barrel directly following the bullet with some of the gas being directed to cycle the action.

This is the important part.
At the point when it travels beyond the barrel and starts passing through the baffles, we start getting some differences.
The gas wants to take the path of least resistance. As the bullet is traveling through the baffles, the gas is starting to bleed off into the empty cavities in the suppressor and whatever is not is still trying to go somewhere.

It can't go forward anymore than the bullet is letting it so more gas is bleeding off through the gas tube.
Now, the gas is still expanding during this time. That's also important because it has more time to expand from the increased length of the suppressor.
With that said, the increase is completely negligible. It's like saying a barrel that's 4" longer than the other barrel will cause the bullet to go farther assuming ballistics stay the same. Yes but almost so little it doesn't matter.
>>
>>33113308

Whether the difference is negligible or not is irrelevant to my commenting on how O'Leary is full of shit and states the exact opposite of the effective on velocity that a suppressor has for any given round.

Prime Minister of Canada is in a unique position of controlling both the house and the executive branch.

In a majority government situation the PM basically has nearly dictatorial levels of policy power.

Whereas in say the United States, the POTUS and the house majority leader can interfere with each other.

For a businessman that kind of control over policy could enable him to stack the deck in his favor for after his term is over.

Benefits of boiling water over Windex?
>>
>>33118838
Windex is just a small amount of ammonium hydroxide and blue colouring agents dissolved in water.

Water is water.

Ammonium hydroxide is alkali so it will emulsify oil,

So if you are trying to get rid of salty residue, hot water is your best bet, the salts will be highly soluble in the water (especially if it's near boiling temperature) whereas windex will also leave your barrel full of gritty oil emulsion and not dissolve the salts as well as the water.

Just make sure you dry your parts up ASAP (since water promotes corrosion) and then do your regular cleaning and oiling routine after.

Stuff like that usually wont fly.
They expect you to call the CFP if you are travelling across the country with restricted since you'd have to store them in your hotel room or wherever you're staying at, which they need to know.
Also, some ranges keep track of your visits via sign in book or if you sign a waiver or whatever, so an officer can follow up at said range if they don't buy your story.
And if you're pulled over at night outside of the ranges hours of operation, then you're really SOL

Yep, made a small dent in my pile of Chinese surplus ammo. And made many small holes in a pile of logs.
>>
How does steel cored ammo affect steel targets? Is it safe to shoot? Will I damage the plate?
>>
>>33128312
>almost be completely wiped
Shame they failed, oh well maybe next time.
>>
>>33128451
It'll eat through it quicker, steel core has inherent mild AP qualities, though obviously isn't nearly as effective as actual AP ammo. Depends on the quality of the target and caliber you're shooting though.
>>
>>33128458
Better be careful with all that edge son, you might cut yourself.
>>
>>33128451
Depending on the caliber and thickness / quality of the steel, it could punch through, crater the steel, or not do any damage to the target. If the steel is good / thick enough, it'll probably be fine.
>>
>>33128451
>steel targets
Are we talking scrap steel you have or hardened steel targets you bought from a store?

If you're shooting at mild steel you'll punch through 44w steel with 7.62x39 up to around 1/2" or 5/8". You'll need thicker to make it not go through but you're going to have deep craters.
>>
>>33128710

I'm not sure. Some guy offered to let me shoot at his small steel gong(1/2 inch I think) but I didn't at the time but looking back I don't know if I was going to fuck up his target with my steel core ammo.
>>
>>33128813
If it's purchased from a store it's very likely that the target is hardened steel. Nobody would pay money for a target you ruin in one magazine.

I doubt you'll ruin the target if you shoot at it from 100m.
There's usually a distance recommended by the manufacturer to prevent damage to the target.

Does anyone know a Canadian site that has a non-restricted keltec sub 2000 9mm in stock that uses m&p9 mags?

I've heard they exist but can't find anything at all.

Fucking Unicorns.
>>

They're accepting as far as I know. I got my membership this morning. Goddamn, I don't think there's anything more fun than shooting trap.

There wasn't a wait for any of the ranges but for a cold morning, there was a decent crowd.
>>

that changes in the summer right?

especially with their range packages for non-licensed people I bet the fucking normies pour in
>>
>>33129344
Allegedly, yes - I chatted with an RO today. There are ranges that non members aren't allowed into though, which helps. Either way, being from Toronto, my options for an outdoor range that I can reach within an hour are negligible. Beggars can't be choosers.

I'll take that as an "I'm too much of a cuck and wouldn't fight even if my home was shelled, my wife/children/grandma/dog were all raped and had invaders doing a cavity search on me every day as I stand in line for rations".

>>
>>33132861

Your arty luger looks thirsty.
>>
>>33131642
Cute, but you went too heavy with the insults and way too light on facts. Canada's service in WW1 was a key factor in Canada gaining further independence and international status. We signed a separate treaty of Versailles, a major checkpoint in establishing our independence from Britain.

Also, to your
>No conflict on our land in hundreds of years
point, what do you think the military intervention in Europe helped prevent?

Our efforts in the Korean war prevented the entirety of Korea from plunging into a communist hell hole. Plenty of Korean-Canadians can thank their freedoms to that.

>>33132683
Fuel their careers? WW1 (which I would agree had no moral superiors and was due to the clusterfuck of politics in Europe at the time) fucking killed the Conservatives in Quebec and ultimately contributed to the Liberals taking over with King.

If you're referring to WW2, then I recommend you keep your trolling to /pol/, it's pretty cringe outside of there. Saying the Tripartite pact held any or equal moral superiority to the allies is a joke.

Korean war? If you would really prefer North Korea and Mao era China over South Korea, I'll buy you a plane ticket to NK.

Past the Korean war, we opted out of the vietnam, gulf, and iraq war. We've mostly stuck to UN peacekeeping.

Also, Afganistan. If you think the taliban hold a moral superiority to the Afgani government controlled sectors, I'll fly you out and we'll see how you do.
>>
Wait I don't quite get it. I'm new to this.

http://www.conservative.ca/leadership/en/vote/how-to-vote

>whether you pick one, or rank multiple candidates, all ballots will be counted

>even if you do pick Leitch as your second, she doesn't get your vote unless Bernier is eliminated

Is my understanding of this correct? Why do people keep talking about strategic voting if it literally doesn't affect anything unless your first choice is eliminated?
>>
>>33133369
So independence and international status couldn't have been attained any other way, you had to kill 61000 Canadians first. Reminds me of people who advocate for military spending because "muh inventions wouldn't have existed if not for war"

No enemy forces could've touched Canadian soil in either world wars, nobody cared in WW1 and in both cases the axis didn't have any ability to attack us. Pretty sure a grade school history class could teach you that much. And then you jump from "these wars protected us" to "w-well we helped them so it doesn't matter!" ah yes, I'm sure those 516 poor fucks that died there were glad that our politicians decided to play world police. I won't waste any more time pointing out your stupidity.
>>
>>33133895
If you want to be petty, the Axis did touch Canadian soil if you include Newfoundland, when they established Weather Station Kurt.

Hell, if you even read my post I'm pretty sure we would agree on the senselessness of WW1. I was offering how even WW1 contributed to our freedoms, even if they weren't the optimal path to take.

The argument as I can see is that I feel that soldiers are worthy of respect, while you feel they deserve pity over the perceived stupidity you think they had in becoming soldiers. You don't have to agree with the motivations for the war to have respect for soldiers and their sacrifices. Pacifism is an ideal, but few can actually sustain it. Like you said, I'd debate you further but you seem pretty firm in your beliefs and I'm not a fan of tilling at windmills. Peace, brother.
>>
>>33121605
First of all, if a cop asks if you have firearms on board you're NOT going to tell him. You are not legally obligated in any way, shape, or form to answer that. If you answer in the affirmative you've now legally given him reasonable expectation to inspect your firearms and documents. Try not to go there.

To answer your question, if you were smart enough to make sure your Permit To Convey doesn't have an actual route and range printed on it, you can say you are heading to such-n-such range like you said. I do that when travelling to & from Victoria.
>>
>>33123097

>>
>>33094671

>>
>>33127823

DON'T ask RCMP or cops for legal advice on storage. They are not your friends. Like my lawyers says, "Contrary to popular belief, cops don't know the law." It's not in their best interest to protect you and nor can they be held legally responsible for "bad" advice given. Besides, storage laws are clear on non-restricteds.

Ok, ideally lock your non-R's in a case in the storage unit like you would at home. Keeping it in a case will help keep the firearm clean.

You can also trigger lock and/or remove the bolt and use a cable lock. This meets the requirement to keep you legal. As added protection from malicious prosecution, take the bolt and store it separate in another box or something. The idea behind this is to show due dilligence in the event of a seizure and court hearing (criminal charges). It will show to the judge that you not only met storage requirements as laid out in the CFC guidelines (fucking Mounties) but you went an extra step to keep a critical part separate and hidden from the main gun. In short, you went BEYOND the regulations and did everything you could to prevent an unauthorized discharge. Trust me, THIS will not be lost on the judge and assuming he's a good one, will take that into consideration.

They keep eliminating the lowest ranked candidates until someone has a majority. If Trost is 1 and Bernier is 2, but almost nobody votes Trost, he'll be eliminated and your vote will go to Bernier.
>>
>>33137203
So basically if someone put Trost as their number 1 pick and Bernier as their number two pick it would result in a vote for Bernier if almost no one (but the person in this example) had voted for Trost.

Essentially people are fighting for the No.1 spot and are hopeful on being high enough with those that didn't vote for them being No. 1 (say No. 2 or No. 3) to garner additional votes for those votes for other candidates that didn't acquire enough votes to make the cut. Regardless of how someone voted for them.
