True, but most of that is due to relatively recent metallurgy advances in bullet construction.

Look at it again with ammo from 20 years ago, the differences are greater.

Right now, the only big difference is in barrier penetration, because .40 is throwing a heavier bullet (usually).

Depends on the bullets that you're comparing. There are many types of 9mm and .40 ammo that each offer more or less penetration, more or less velocity, more or less expansion, more or less bullet weight, etc.

If you are talking typical FMJ loads, then yes, the .40 is about 25-30% more power than the 9mm and is pretty close to .45 loads. For JHP we also see the .40 expand more reliably, expand to a larger diameter, and have more mass retention.

Uh. no. Video has differing bullet profiles (round VS flat nose) and is using the heaviest and slowest .40 (180 grn instead of say, 165grn), but using the lighter and faster 9mm 115grn instead of the 147grn that would be comparable to the 180grn bullet used for .40S&W, and is completely fucking irrelevant as a result. Additionally, video is only testing for penetration in fucking aluminum sheets.
Other things being equal (that is, Velocity, bullet design, expansion) Penetration can be simply calculated with sectional density - where other factors are the same, higher sectional density results in more penetration. This is fucking physics 101.

So, show me a FAIR comparison - if I'm worng, I'll admit it. But your current "proofs" have issues with velocity (because of bullet weight chose for each caliber) and bullet profile.
