Which fighter jet currently in service is the best one based on:
>Cost of production and maintenance
>Range
>Payload/armament
>Speed/maneuverability/agility
>Pilot interface
>Possible variety of applications
>Reputation in general
I don't really have an opinion on the matter but I want to have one.

F-16 Falcon because it's sexy, fuck you.
F-15.
>100+ air-to-air victories without any losses.
>Comes in either air superiority or multi-role variants.
>Reliable engines that do not need constant replacing.
>Payload
>Range
Only real downsides are cost compared to the less capable F-16 and inferior data management compared to the not-quite-ready F-35.

Biggest version I could find in five minutes.
>>33089724
Biggest gun, may not have the speed of a modern fighter jet, but would have one every fight with every fighter jet from World War II and the fifties
>>33089681
Mobius 1 (F22 Raptor).
>>33089750
I hope that's not maximum effort on your part...
it's heavy and not very agile...If it weren't for its better electronics and missiles, I'd give it to an Me 262 or F-86
>>33089681
F-22 hands down.
>>33089681
If you don't think it's Mobius 1 in the F22 then get the fuck out of my face
>>33089681
Anything Mobius 1 is flying.
>>33089729
Its also very expensive.
>>33089681
F-14. End of conversation.
F-15C for the tried and true no memes answer desu
>>33089681
There's a different leader for practically every category here. It really depends on what you primarily need it to do. My OPINION is that for air superiority specifically, you want the F-22. For a TACAIR fighter meant to cover all your bases? You want the F-35.
>>Cost of production and maintenance
The USAF F-16 fleet and Swedish AF Gripen fleet are about equal here. Cheap, abundant parts and training for the F-16, streamlined design and maintenance requirements for the Gripen. Both have very long service life engines with low depot/replacement frequencies (something Soviet aircraft are still far behind on).
>Range
This is a six of one, half dozen of the other question. The MiG-31, Su-35, F-15, etc. all have excellent two-bag combat radius range. On just internal tanks (meaning better kinematic performance with a combat load at all times), the F-35 and then F-22 blow everything else away. However, if you've got aerial refueling resources at significant levels, the goal of designing all your tacair to perform long-range door-kicking strikes becomes a little silly.
>Payload/armament
The F-15E (23,000lbs) and Su-34 (17,600–26,500 lb) are your leaders here both in total payload and munitions flexibility
>Pilot interface
F-35, any variant, no question.
>Possible variety of applications
Again, F-35, no question. The native and external data fusion, EW capabilities and fat pipe LPI comms plus VLO features give this a range of possible missions which no other multirole on the planet can match.
>Reputation in general
Combat record? F-15A/C. Airshow wow-factor? Su-29 family variants. Air superiority reputation and capability? F-22. You can argue this one ad nauseum.

so, what game is this from?

I just typed "jet fighter comparison" and found this.

A lot more details in the comment section. Intersting.

>Which fighter jet currently in service is the best one based on:
Based on a mix of the points you mention ?
Rafale.
Based on every single point ?
>Cost of production and maintenance
Super Hornet
>Range
F-15E or SU-34.
>Payload/armament
Same
>Speed/maneuverability/agility
SU-35 or F-22
>Pilot interface
If it's operational and efficient one day (like in 2031 or something) F-35. Currently, Rafale.
>Possible variety of applications
Super Hornet/Growler
>Reputation in general
F-16 because numbers and service time.

You might as well, since there hasn't been a proper large scale, equally competent aerial battle since the Korean/Vietnam war.
