I was doing birthday shopping, wanted a Bundeswehr flak vest but saw pic related. I pulled the trigger on this over the, flak vest. In total to ship it from the Salzuflen, DE to the states it was 108 dollars. It's apparently the new infantry/ksk vest or whatever for Germany. Did I do good?

Is multicam worth the meme? I expect to operate mostly in heavily wooded environments, and it seems a little light for my home turf.
>>
>>33090000
Just remember multicam is okay in most environments. But only just okay. It still gets beaten out by any pattern more specialized for their environment.

Kek, I might get an emr mbav for meme value
>>
>>33090000
Multicam is excellent for the military- where they might be deploying to various environments on short notice and not have time to swap all their camo gear out to match. The whole appeal is that it works decently is a wide variety of environments.

If you don't see yourself operationally operating in a wide variety of environments, you're not getting use out of multicam.

From a non-camo perspective, the civilian appeal of multicam is that it's milsurp and you can build a whole matching kit easily.

If neither of those things are in your wheelhouse, it's not for you. Tbqh you can do excellent and cheap camping for the woods with M81 and DBDU (for fall) and employing smart choices. The actual printed pattern used is really a small part of effective concealment.

Has anyone here ever owned a Ferro Slickster? I'm thinking of buying one to replace the shit tier condor PC that came with my plates for free.

I want to know if it:
>Is the stitching durable?
>Does it adjust easily?
>Is the material is strong?
>Does it have to be worn under a layer of cloth to protect it from wear?

It looks like it works well but seems a bit susceptible to early wear to me and I can't find reviews I trust on it. I'd much rather hear it straight from you guys. Pic unrelated.

500D cordura
>Does it have to be worn under a layer of cloth to protect it from wear?
Nope, not the FS Slick

Honestly at how much SKD is tripping over their own balls in keeping that thing in stock, I'd go Perroz instead. Tons of color/cummerbund/back panel MOLLE options. Otherwise it's very similar, The Slickster cummerbund is fucking wonderful but you can always buy it separately.

Old versions sagged but I suspect they've fixed it. Personally I wouldn't bother with it lacking any sort of Swiftclip compatibility and since it's inherently less durable than 500D due to the material they use.

Blackhawk used to be the industry leader for Gucci Gear. They have been outpaced and their gear isn't as "modern", but it's definitely durable and usable.

The tape on the stock was just some tape I'd had over the front of the ACOG while doing some occluded aiming. I know some operational operators operate with some tape or soft side Velcro on their stocks as a tactile marker to get a repeatable sight picture. It ain't me, though.

The tape cap by the way is folded over so that the inside is not sticky; no residue on the muzzle and I can easily slip it off and back on.

this is the best detergent brand to get for washing milsurp to get that homeless mans unwashed ass funk out of it. pick one of thier scents and run with it. also wash your pillow with it at the laundromat. dry it there too, so you dont break your washer and dryer. having a fresh clean pillow is a wonderful thing.

It's not really flagging if it's holstered and the trigger is covered in my opinion.

It's worth it for being able to access the pistol inside a vehicle, especially as the driver.

No clue. I'd imagine because SAD are CIA spooks they're kinda like more opr8r FAST teams in a sense. They're probably more for intel and infil shit than door kicking. Obviously they can door kick but the CIA doesn't have a huge need for swathes of 6'0 200lb Delta dumpster squad dudes that the army does. So because I know fuck all and am just guessing I'd GUESS that you'd be in intel or maybe some pre draft unit in the army and get scouted for it.

Where a lot of Delta guys are just drafted from everything from the 75th to standard infantry to anything as long as you meet their criteria which is obviously classified.

I've used that knife probably 99% of every time I've went out. It also goes out with me to the woods. It's done everything from cutting splinters out of my hands to butchering the last hog I shot because I left my butcher knife set at the house. It's the single most used item of my kit.

I'm pretty sure sad guys get drafted from delta.
>>
>>33100183
Most delta guys are supposedly 30+ so I don't know. I'm only guessing but it wouldn't make a lot of sense to draft 35 y/o's who yeah, have the skill set but aren't gonna want to be doing crazy shit for another 10+ years after the 5+ years they've spent in tier 1 SOF and the 10 before that in whatever other combat unit.
>>
>>33100154
Unfortunately No on the Hemlets. Ive had a set of Team Wendy pads in mine for about 6 years. Unless you earn yourself a home in CANSOF or some of the Recce platoons or sniper cells you're stuck rocking the CG634 Dome of Obedience.

Plate Carriers is same. Everyone wears the Pacific Safety Products FPV. Load carriage usually has more flex. But as far as Armour goes, you wear what Liz gave ya. Unless SOF.

When Im off my vehicle I rock a TT-MAV for dismounted patrolling because the issued tacvest is horseshit. If Im in my commanders hole, its Frag, Hemlet, Copenhagen and Eye Pro. Anything else is snag city.

But Ive also been doing this for a decade plus. If you show up to a line infantry company and are gear queered to the tits fresh out of battleschool, well, hope your skin is thick because youll be the Autausmonaut target of the month.
>>
>>33100256
Oh so you can change the pads, at least there's that.

>youll be the Autausmonaut target of the month.
Didn't plan on using a lot of my own shit either or, was mostly just wondering for convenience sake

>Unless you earn yourself a home in CANSOF
Any insider tips? I'd post a quick background to give you a better idea since I plan on trying for it but that'd be a bit gay.
>>
>>33100183
they wait for people from special operations to be up for enlistment and offer them a job if they leave the military.
>>
>>33096897
So it's still slower than having your hands on the gun, which you can do with mitts.
>>
>>33100308
Well. You Can. But you will catch shit for it. Crusty SNCO's used to tell me I wouldnt be covered if Injured until I got a policy letter from SISIP (CAF Life Ins company) stating otherwise. But the flack was worth it. The issued suspension system used to kill my head. Now I can go 16+ hrs with it on and no issues.

Ive Travelled on the Queens dime a lot.

I use a fair amount of personal kit. But thats based on years of suffering through "this item sucks and is a detriment to my capabilities". I can run bone stock issued across the board and ply my trade just fine. But what I do run enhances my ish. Also snivel kit. Being comfortable when stuck in a snow hole OP for 4 days is important.

No Tips really. Just be fit and smart and want it more than you want to breathe. Its attainable. But youll have to put in your dues in big Army before you meet the pre req's to attend selection.
>>
>>33093899

Have fun firing with Mittens on. Something something no trigger finger something.

I have one. I wear thin gloves and keep my hands in the warmer. It makes standing sentry or sitting out in an OP all night at -35c a weeee bit less yuck. Worth it.

Best Job I ever Had...

Any trade in the Army is eligible to apply for it. Not just infantry. Right now as PM Selfie is No Balls All the combat arms trades are super boring. Lots of sitting around waiting for the glimmering hope of a tour.
Join Up. But pick a trade. Or Go Infantry, and aim for SOF. If you dont make the fut. remister to a trade that gets spec pay before you wreck your ankles knees and back. The Combat trades are not friendly to the body long term (I sound like rice krispies getting out of bed and shit aches at 31 that shouldnt)

>>33100456
Recruiter saw my school stuff that I had on me, grade reports and stuff and the first thing he tried to shill me on was weapon technician this, mechanic that, communications this and all these other things. He seemed a little disappointing when I kept insisting infantry. We'll see.

Thanks for the advice, and I'll try to avoid the rice krispies lifestyle if at all possible, but like you said you have to want it more than you want to breath (almost literally at some points, I'm assuming).

No. Even in pure speculation no one would have the pre req skill set for CIA work from JUST infantry. One of their biggest draw pools would also be active CIA teams and then train them a la Rangers style for a few years to operate and now you've got an intel dude who can door kick and shoot other infil/intel dudes dead.

Are holsters from Black Hills Leather good to go? How's their customer service? I've seen some excellent reviews and also some scathing reviews about how their workmanship is shoddy and the business owner has scammed people in the past. I want a leather drop holster for my battle belt and I like the look of their "BH245BP Duty Holster Jacket Slot." Anybody have experience with them or know of any good leather duty drop holsters that will fit a Beretta 92FS?

Currywurst. Not even in plastic wraps, just sitting loose with their curry-ketchup sauce soaking through the canvas. It's a good-to-go and Travis Costa approved solution (depending on your specific POU).

You think I can fit a watermelon Arizona can in on of the pouches? The others would be for some skittles.
>>
>>33101280
You could definitely fit one of those tall Arizona cans in one of the AK pouches on a Chicom rig. It'll be a bit snug at first, but eventually it will stretch the canvas

Soldier 2000 is such a great pattern. I wish the US adopted it instead of Scorpion. It fills that same multi-terrain Afghanistan-looking niche they were looking for to replace UCP and combines all the best elements of M81, DCU, and 6-color DBDU. I wish it wasn't fucking unobtainium, though. If I could score BDUs in Soldier 2000, I'd wear the shit out of them.
>>
>>33101308
I'm sure you could modify the little grenade/oil can pouches to hold pistol mags. They hold a Baofeng so long as you don't have an extended battery. Hell, you could go to a seamstress (the service is often offered by dry-clean laundry places and local old women) and have them remove one of the grenade pouches and sew on some PALS webbing. Then you could attach whatever pistol pouches you like!

We're literally all banned from RR after Grozny. Before Grozny about 25% were left, but we caused so much asshurt that they kicked out even the quiet members who weren't active in a surge of autism.

I got kicked out shorty before Grozny because they ordered me to do 80 burpees and anyone who liked the post that caused it was to do 25 burpees. I basically told them it wasn't happening as did everyone else, so they called on our platoon leader who told him to fuck off.

post a better picture, it still looks kinda shit, but not too bad.

Id consider removing a lot of the 'fluff'. For example, you have a chest mounted kabar, but have a folder and multitool in your pocket. Might be able to relocate these items better IMO.

>>33102542
which one is you?
>>
>>33102551
I didn't take the pictures, I was at the mercy of people at nuggetfest. More should surface hopefully.

Its not a kabar its actually a foxMD UTK. Its an actual "fighting" knife. The one in my pocket is for cutting. Different purposes and it doesn't effect draw or anything so its not in the way of shit. What really needs to be replaced is the goddamn IFAK. More mags, less fatty pouch that fucks with draw and prevents crawling. I also still have no idea how to use my GPS.

Learn, the 401s are quite nice, logged a lot of miles using them.

I think fighting knives are kinda over rated. Im assuming your folder is like 2-3in? If your fighting knife is 6inches, Id split the difference and carry one fixed 3-4in. You can use it for field craft and fighting. You shouldn't be fighting with it enough to be worried about sharpness(from using it in fieldcraft) and all that shit. Just maintain it. And if you had to use it on someone, if It could split a log, it can defend you.

Id also move the multitool unless you have it dummy corded, your in dangerous area leaving it in a pocket.

just my 2 cents

Yeah, I forget constantly I have a crazy sideways pouch thats mean to fucking hold all that small shit for me but I never touch the thing because I'm more of just LARPing than operating. People knife is just a people knife while folder is a benchmade barage that is not for people. How does the 401 work? shit. I turn it on and I walk around at best. I dont know how to load maps or open them or anything really. Also dropping trip for talking

too hard to explain over chans but its actually pretty easy, one of the easiest gps ive ever used, im sure there are good videos online talking about it, the main thing is to get practice, cause land nav is a skill you need to use or you lose it.

its pretty much a BDU top, so not really. Its ment to go over a liner (kinda like how the gortex coats do) Order a size larger and wear warm underneath is your best option
>>
>>33102617
most of the .mil guys i talked to about it just use it to get MGRS coords. helps a lot if you're moving a long way by dead reckoning cause you can use it to correct for any errors in pace counting or walking in a slightly wiggly line

>>33102047
Can you send me one too trllz0722@gmail

>>
>>33102835
If i have a 401 Im not dead reckoning, the 401 is great becuase you can pull current grid, so its good for pause reps/call for fire/etc, but if i have a working 401 Im using it, unless im practicing my land nav. In which case im only using compass, protractor, map pen, map.

The great thing about the 401 like most GPS, you can plug in a route, and way points, and then for example the 401 will give an arrow, and how many meters you are away from it.

a couple threads ago i brought up one way to quickly remove a mitt. just dry-firing the technique it was definitely faster than letting starting from your rifle hanging.

>>33100646
you're incapable of basic logic is the point

mittens and handwarmers will both keep your hands similarly warm (unless it's so fucked that you need both) but having your hands on the rifle with mittens on is still faster than hands off the rifle in handwarmer, if you know what you're doing.
