Our shop will buy back for 45% to 60%, depending on whether the seller wants to negotiate or not, and in most cases the sellers never do. Cabela's low balls even worse when it comes to selling guns to them, even on trade ins too. Not so sure what pawn shops offer...
In the "short run" the sellers are really losing a lot of money.
Maybe they just need the quick cash to pay off stuff... who knows.

I don't really care too much for shooting, I am a collector, not a shooter.

I fire all of my guns. As soon as I buy a new gun, it's the very next gun I take to the range.

I do have worries about firing real old stuff.

My grandfather left me a 1935 winchester 67 that sat in an attic for God knows how long. I mildly restored it and took it to the range. I definitely held it away from my face and used my left hand the first few shots.

I did the same thing with my 110 year old fn M1900. Left hand, turn face away, hope it doesn't explode.

Luckily they are both small caliber guns so there wasn't a ton of danger. And after the first couple shots went off safely it was business as usual.

But yeah, firing guns is half the fun of owning guns. Gotta see what each one is like to fire.

Upgraded myself from a nofuns this year, read up on types of weapons and tried out several. Purchased an LC9s from a bass pro for $100 more than I should have. It has a magazine release issue.

Decided that if I got a gun I would work on my anger, racism and issues of paranoia before taking it out of the safe, as a reward for personal improvement. Bought several additional magazines and am waiting before testing them.

I do because I have no idea what it fires. It's an ancient double barrel shotgun. Pre 1910. Wouldn't be safe to fire with modern ammo anyway. I've tried putting multiple shells in but none fit right. It's somewhere between 20 and 16 gauge (not a standard 18 gauge, tried it), but apparently some weird special snowflake thing I've never seen before.
