It just depends on your priorities. Personally I use 9mm in my home handgun, but vastly prefer a long gun. Realistically I keep an AR pistol in 300blk with a light and laser and load it with some hot 160gr FTX. I don't have long hallways but I've got 3 big rooms, 8 small ones and >9000 corners.
