This literally means nothing. All it's doing is upholding MD's unconstitutional black rifle ban. Once a conservative Supreme Court judge gets confirmed they can take it to them and have it overturned.

Circuit judges have been making retarded rulings like these for years. It just makes shitholes like Commiefornia and Jew York more and more cucked. Don't blow things out of proportion and have a knee-jerk reaction.

We have way more gun rights than what we did just 12 years ago. A lot of people on here don't seem to remember the time that AR-15s were literally illegal. Everyone was completely shocked when the AWB was allowed to expire.

Things are getting better, trust me.

This, at this point AWBs are fucked, its only a matter of time. We could've had all of them nullified last year when the NY SAFE Act went up to SCOTUS but they refused to hear it because it was just after Scalia died and it wasn't gonna get overturned. Once the dems run out of tears and autism and Trump gets all his picks in this MD one or another with eventually make it to SCOTUS and end them all.
>>

G-go on
>>
>>33080708
I know, it sucks but it's just a reality. The judges in those circuits are completely cucked. It really blows that the Supreme Court is being relied on more and more to defend fundamental rights, but until we can really go on an offensive that's what we've got. Right now we need to focus more on better gun rights in states that aren't cucked beyond hope. The larger the gun community comes, the more people that become interested in AR-15s, NFA items, concealed carry, the better. Before long we'll see it spread to places like New York.

Like I said, I remember a time when CCW was unheard of, assault weapons were completely banned, and basically you couldn't buy anything but fudd shit and target rifles. Things have changed so much just in the past 15 years. Suppressors are so popular now that I can walk into a local gun store and get one. I remember back when that was like a crazy exotic thing that nobody even knew how to get ahold of.

Things are looking up, anon. Don't get too down in the dumps.

The first problem I predict running into would be boring out a large rod of high quality steel.

Bore would be too deep, I suppose you could bore from each end though. But still even a 4 foot tube would require a 2 foot long boring bar and the rigidity to handle it.

Well, it doesn't. Just the right to bear arms which is why states like New York and California can't ban guns outright. They just make them hard to get or unappealing to own. "Well regulated" is the key phrase. That's why you gotta keep pushing for less restrictions all the time lest they be severely restricted nationwide. A lot of gun owners are fucking retarded and don't realize this because "muh shall not be infringed".

Pump actions, lever actions and bolt actions are next. Here is the logic path they will follow to ban bolt actions, WW1 had bolt action rifles used. Ergo bolt actions are weapons of war. Just use a bow if you want to hunt. Bows and arrows were used during the Plains Wars and in European wars, bows and arrows are weapons of war. Lever actions were used In the Spanish/American war and WW1, lever actions are weapons of war. That is where it will go.

You people really don't fucking get it.

An arbitrary term used by liberals to slowly erode and ban guns one by one that they don't like?

Here in Connecticut, they keep adding weapons to the salt rifle ban list, and there's only a couple of fudd tier semis that you're still allowed to buy.

Plus flash hiders, pistol grips, detachable mags, VFGs, iron sights, folding or telescoping stocks, bayonet lugs, and I think maybe some vague "barrel shrouds" are all no nos.

The next thing to go after semis will be straight pull, pump action, and lever action, like in Australia, and then bolt action.

They're coming for your guns, it's not just the cuck states any more, and remember, liberals don't want halfway, they want ALL OF THEM

The comparison is supposed to mean that new technologies do not nullify the right for its intended purpose, regardless if it has brought new challenges in modern times.

People are already wanting to redefine the 1st and 4th Amendments because of digital computers and the internet. Is a warrent-less search of your browsing history okay because it's in the "public arena? Can the internet be censored because of rampant piracy or jihadi recruitment? Is "cyberbulling" a crime? The first one isn't even conceivable with printed media, and the rest are far more prevalent with the help of modern technology.

Yet having 10 more rounds than a Girandoni rifle is so beyond the 2nd Amendment. If we can make exceptions to the 1st and 4th because of how different and powerful the internet is, surely we could say the same for the 2nd!

Provided the supreme court doesn't suddenly become retarded, this shouldn't be a problem.

No, the FFs were aware that gun technology can and would advance, pic related, a fast shooting, magazine fed, high capacity rifle that Jefferson got for the Lewis & Clark expedition. They wanted, needed even, the regular people to own these weapons - the distinction between weapons of war and weapon for hunting had not been made yet. Personal computers OTOH are something ppl couldn't wrap their heads around in the 1960s.

Incidentally, and in our favor, "common use" is why 12ga shotguns are not considered destructive devices despite meeting the technical criteria.

Dissemination of media (any form) is what starts rebellion/revolution. You're fucking stupid if you don't understand that.

Monarchs across Europe were terrified of the printing press. The colonial governor of New England flipped his shit after reading the first paper published on one. It was titled Publick Occurrences Both Forreign and Domestick, and literally only printed one edition because of the fear it generated.

Only an utter moron would think that firearms are more dangerous than information and mass media.

The rights articulated by the constitution aren't the government GIVING you permission to do things, they're the government vowing to stay out of your business. They're all limitations. The right of the people to keep and bear arms, free speech, all of it were meant to be rules the government was bound to, not us.

I find it painful how all these fuckwits in government swear to uphold the constitution and then trample the intention of the document by passing gun regulations, hate speech laws, fucking re-education camps for business owners who don't want to participate in gay marriage, the list goes on.

Hitler, Stalin, , Mao, Pol Pot all banned guns to stop their people from fighting back.

Naw Hillary stacked the deck in virginia so it was obviously going to her.

Tim Kaine's from Virginia so lots of independents and loads of Virginian 'republicans' are total neocons because of muh government.

This.

This ruling isn't about guns, it's about STATES' RIGHTS.
>>
>>33080594
It sets a legal precedent for future gun control laws/court rulings in the area and neighboring areas
>>
>>33080885
A legislation that infringed on their rights.

Dont calm down, stay vigilant.

>hurr durr that would NEVER happen here
>hurr durr my state will NEVER pass this legislation in our house of reps
>hurrdy hurr hurr how did they get away with passing this legislation here.

Im sure some firearms owners in the states affected thought like you did, and now they are sucking at life.

>>
>>33089115
If you're implying /k/ has ever been in favor of states curtailing the second amendment by throwing around "states rights" when convenient, you haven't been here very long. I remember this board fucking rejoicing when the McDonald ruling came down.
>>
>>33089132
That works in our favor. If the 3rd circuit would potentially rule progun, all it takes is for the AG or some NY SAFE style Republican backstabbing to get something retarded passed into law and then challenged all the way up to the circuit.
>>
>>33089115
It's not that I hate State's rights as a concept, just in practice it's been so heavily abused to curtail civil liberties and gun rights that I find it hard to support anymore.

We only like it when a state's laws abide by our worldview, obviously.

State with antigun policies:
>I hope the SCOTUS comes down on their asses and forces them to repeal it

State with progun policies that theoretically negate the federal NFA:
>Fuck the feds, state law > federal law!
>>
>>33089158
That's only because we shouldn't have either infringing on our rights in the fucking first place. States' rights or Federal supremacy or whatever is no fucking excuse to shit on the Constitution.

>The relevant question is not whether they are themselves M16s or other arms used by a military; or whether
they are useful at all or only useful in military service; or whether they have this or that single feature in common with a non-banned firearm. Rather, the issue is whether the banned
assault weapons and large-capacity magazines possess an amalgam
of features that render those weapons and magazines like M16s and most useful in military service.

>the issue isnt whether the rifle would be useful in military service
>the issue is if it is a gun comparable to a gun that can be useful in military service

It is too bad that the law doesn't have a tier system.
Constitution: Tier 1
State Law: Tier 2
Federal Law: Tier 3

A lower tier law can not supercede a higher teir law. That way, people In California can keep their gay marrige and abortions while people in Texas can keep their guns and bibles. Sweeping federal bans/laws would only effect the states that agree with the law, but the states will never be able to strip away constitutional rights. It is the best compromise.

If you don't like your states position, just vote for an opposing Govenor, senators, representatives, or just move to a state that you agree with.

The 14th amendment nullifies that argument entirely. The states cannot deprive you of your rights guaranteed under the US Constitution.

>>
>>33089474
Is that what the Articles of Confederation entailed?
Why were they retarded? It seems like that best compromise for todays highly divided culture.
>>
I guess I'm struggling at the legal justification of this. I skimmed the decision, but they seem to cite Heller as not protecting long rifles, but DC v. Heller referenced United States v. Miller which held that one of the reasons the NFA was constitutional was because it didn't prohibit weapons that could be reasonably used in a militia.

I'm not a lawyer, so if any of you Anons are, I'd greatly appreciate any help trying to understand this decision.

The dissenters nailed it, the majority ruled that because heller left wiggle room to ban firearms not commonly used for lawful purposes and left it open to ban firearms that were excessively dangerous (citing firearms used exclusively for military applications).

The state argued that because the firearms had similar features to military firearms, and that since semi-automatic fire is preferred for an increased lethality... that the ban is justifiable in that the rifles have features that were marketed towards lethality and as such were excessively dangerous.

They completely overlooked that they were citing 1960s pro-m16 propaganda about the "m16 decapitating" people and that it was more lethal than the m14.. etc.

Basically, Traxler summed it up nicely in his dissent from the decision:

Third, Heller in no way suggests that the military
usefulness of a weapon disqualifies it from Second Amendment
protection. That is the majority’s singular concoction.

>Why were they retarded?
>In such critical matters as defense, public finance and trade, the federal government was at the mercy of the state legislatures.
Basically they couldn't raise a federal army because the states wouldn't commit the troops, among other issues.

Because Federal law applies throughout the country and decisions that are controversial get kicked to the Supreme Court to figure out.

Bitching about a being in one circuit or another is about the dumbest fucking thing in the world. There's a reason why they haven't broken up the Ninth.
