Could be the magazine. Do you have any others? Same thing happened to me when I got my NPAP but it turns out the issue was a Gibbs bolt-hold-open magazine I used that caused the issue, I've fired milsurp bakelite and steel magazines with no issues.

zeroing is the most painful thing ive ever had to do gun-related in my life though, must be re-zeroed if removed, must be removed to clean weapon, and can be completely bricked by the loss of some ball bearings involved in the tedious zeroing process

obviously go with something else or something western if you can afford it or cant find the side-rail version. pretty sure anyone here will suggest the obzor over it but that thing is ugly as sin desu

Welds, mostly. The Russian weds are much larger and not nearly as clean. You can tell Izzy from Tula/Bulgy by their flat buttplates and unrolled struts, but the primary giveaway between Tula and Bulgy is going to be the size of the spot welds and how thick the welds are near the trunnion. Russian stocks will sometimes have small proof marks on the sling plate as well.

The stocks in the post you replied to are Tula top, Bulgy bottom.

Neato, so that's what it is. I just threw a 4.5mm pin Russian flatback on my slr104 because Bulgarians were nowhere to be found by the time I picked mine up. For some reason the akfiles marketplace was fucking flooded with the things around that time as well, so it worked out.
